Haven't seen any of the new tour, so tell me: how well does Paul sing BoRap? Did they use the original opera section with Freddie on lead vocal, or did they record a new one with Paul on it?
At the end of the song just before Bo Rhap (at least in Dublin), Paul Rodgers walks up to the back of the drumkit, the screen appears and Paul points to it. Video of Freddie playing the first piano bit of Bo Rhap appears on screen, Brian and Roger play along to it. Then there's the usual taped 'Galileo' bit with archive footage of Freddie on screen. Then Paul and full band are back for the final 'rock' part of the song.
Another addition- the end is duet between Paul and Fred. Frd sings "Nothing really amtters", than Paul "anyone can see", Fred "nothing really matters".... and pause oon the sccreen there's young Freddie taking a bow and than Paul finishes (NICELY!!!) "Nothing relly matters to me"...
"Anyway the wind blows" is Freddie again...
The first time I saw it- yes.
The fifth- I though "corny"...
And I didn't like Paul "introducing" Freddie...
To me it was a bit too much- he's dead, get over it, the end. You're guys doing his songs, enough, that's the tribute...
God, am I the only one after all this Queen=Freddie, stupid fans still in shock after his death, all the tributes and stuff who actually is almost willing to bite after mentioning the name again on particular ocassions?
Loved it at Brixton, loved it come Wembley. Think its a very tasteful gesture and good way to remember Freddie. The ending, personally, is superb. Like the footage of Freddie and John on the screens too.
tomtoms wrote: If he didn't do anything he would be disrepecting him, the poor guy can't win. Maybe next time he should pull a moonie............
He can win. He already did. I love the stuff he did. Find me a bigger fan of Paul than me... Still I didn't like that much the entire idea of doing BoRhap on this tour- as simple.
It is a no win situation. People would have been omaning either way (a bit like the tour really ;))
I personally enjoyed Bo Rap and thought the introduction from Paul was great, in a sense showing respect for the song and artist.
I thought it was a lovely gesture on Paul's part- very respectful. Paul's ending with "nothing really matters to me" is incredible.
Hoorah for Paul Rodgers!!!
It worked fine, though should this partnership run through Europe again, they'd have to leave Bo Rap out or do it themselves. It was ok the first time, the next time not so.
It's one of those fine lines things really. This time, the first time out on the road since Freddie's death had to be some sort of tribute and this was fine from Paul.
