4 hours until I see Queen! I am rather looking forward to it as you can imagine. |
bohemian 11513 13.05.2005 11:36 |
...the show just finished with "God save the Queen"! Pre-produced (taped) version as usual... ;-) |

I heard they played 'Hijack My Heart'. confirm/deny? |

Lester Burnham wrote: I heard they played 'Hijack My Heart'. confirm/deny?No they already played "Hijack My Head", an out-take from Highlander score :) (sorry jeroen for borrowing the joke :) ) Brian instead of love Of My Life played some ukulele, very weird version of Good Company. Roger indeed sang Hijack... and the band after WATC came out for another encore and played "Silver Salomon", saying it will be a bonus on the DVD, as this show was also recorded! They started with Eminem tape, followed by Reaching Out and instead of Tie Youre Mother Down they played fast We Will Rock You. After playing two verses of AOBTD they played the snippet of Dragon Attack, finishing with Now i'm Here reprise. And the last thing- remember the snippet from White Man? They played bloody thing, instead of Fat Botomed Girls... |

I actually received an mp3 of them doing 'Hijack My Heart', and Brian's little 'Good Company' ukelele busk. Really good stuff, I must say. |

They absolutely played Freebird again, and circulated bottles of Jack Daniels and Wild Turkey amongst the audience in the arena after the stewards handed out plastic cups of Red Bull and Stoli while we waited in line. The show totally rocked. Paul rode in on a Harley for "Reaching Out," and Brian played harpsichord for the entire gig. Tie Yer Mother = pure carnage on the harpsichord. The crowd went wild. Roger played "I'm In Love With My Car" on the sitar accompanied by Ravi Shankar, who came out of retirement for the gig. At the end, Ravi doused the sitar with Ronson lighter fluid and set the stage on fire. Literally. It's hot, it's mean! Jamie, Danny, and Spike finally had enough and kicked the you-know-what out of Paul. A great time was had by all. ;-) Now will someone please post the real review? Thanks! |

Just back Absolutley fucking amazing... |
bohemian 11513 13.05.2005 18:55 |
@DeaconJohn ... any special reason why you left the show before "halftime"? :-) |
DeaconJohn 13.05.2005 18:58 |
I'll not list all the songs, but they played: Another One Bites the Dust A Kind of Magic A FULL version of '39 Under Pressure The Show Must Go On I cant remember how long they played for, but it was AGES. My mate rekoned it was 2 and a half hours... |
bohemian 11513 13.05.2005 19:14 |
No "Breakthru"? No "Dragon Attack"? ;-) |
Last Cyborg 13.05.2005 19:26 |
When you say full version of '39 do you mean the two verse rather than one verse version he does sometimes.. or the actual full song? |

Did anyone notice what they were rehearsing during the soundcheck? I don't expect any surprizes though ;) |
DeaconJohn 13.05.2005 19:32 |
Fuck I dunno, it seemed like the full version to me. Though I was caught up in the atmosphere of it all so I could be wrong of course! |
Knute 13.05.2005 19:38 |
Hey I heard that they did the Free tune Fire and Water! Is this true? If so, that's awesome! Love that tune! |
gnb123 13.05.2005 19:47 |
Fire and Water was played And it was great |
another one diets the bust 13.05.2005 19:56 |
Seems as some people confirm the performance of FIRE AND WATER. Nice surprize, hope there will be some download soon :) What was it played between? |
gnb123 13.05.2005 20:05 |
Cant remember where it was played. There definitely 2 Paul Rodgers songs in a row, of which F&W was the second. Maybe after Cant Get Enough ??? |
DrumBrother 13.05.2005 21:27 |
Brixton, Birmingham and Cardiff were great, looking forward to Dublin tonight. Hope they do Fire & Water but hopefully not at the expense of another Rodgers song. Maybe they could drop 'Magic'. See you all in Dublin, driving up from Cork. |

Maybe they'll drop something but i promise you it won't be A KIND OF MAGIC ;) |

right you lot, just back from belfast this morning after spending the night on the floor at the ferry terminal at larne! so i'm tired, hungry, smelly but boy was it worth all that effort!!!!!! what a fuckin gig! set list is as follows(because one of the roadies gave it to me after the gig, ha!) reaching out tie your mother down break free fat bottom girls wishing well another one bites the dust crazy little thing called love under pressure say its not true 39 love of my life hammer to fall feel like making love fire and water (first time this tour!!) i'm in love with my car gtr solo drum solo last horizon days of our lives radio ga ga cant get enough kind of magic i want it all bo rhap -------------- show must go on all right now we will rock you champions almost 3 hours long folks and it was fantastic!! brian was very unhappy with his guitars and kept changing all the way through the gig- dont know why, sounded perfectly ok to me, he's the man i suppose!! a kind of magic was again very weak and dissapointing,(my own humble opinion of course) paul loved that show last night, he seemed a lot more confident, happy and at ease which produced a great performance! rodger puffed and wheezed all the way through, looks totally fucked and drained, as if this tour cant end quick enough, but he still gave his all and put in an admiral performance. all in all a very good gig, not quite as powerful as manchester but came damn well close!!!! |

They should have filmed this concert for DVD release, absolutley amazing it was. Loved the way they just played everything, instead of dropping certain songs to fit others in as I think they may have done in other gigs? Yea we couldnt help but spot how bad Roger looked by the end. I think this will be the last time you see Roger tour I'm afraid, he did look absolutley fucked by the end. And yes, I think Paul deserves alot of credit for his performace last night. I don't think anyone could have asked for a better performance from him. |

Remember they are about to have a long break before they play the outdoor shows. He'll be fine. He's the man. You see all these drummers today who just drum, the lazy gits. Roger is THE MAN. Wish they would sort out Ga Ga though. Backing tracks should be banned live. But I prefer Roger singing it. So I'm stuck. |
DeaconJohn 14.05.2005 07:57 |
I wasnt inferring that he wont be doing the outdoor show. I hope I am wrong and I do get the chance to see them again after this tour. |

Flying back home on Saturday lunchtime (family of 6 on night out from Isle of Man!!), in departures at City Airport and met Brian and Roger, two lovely fellas who kindly signed autographs, chatted about the gig and posed for photos - what a weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
man on the prowl 15.05.2005 17:49 |
well Mr Quinn, 26 songs plus the guitar solo and drum solo, add it up my friend. plus i was there, plus the exact time was 2 hrs 47 mins. Believe it. |
pirrakitas 15.05.2005 17:54 |
I was there and I think it was about 2 hours 20 minutes long. Dublin was even longer (thanks to Molly Malone :-) ) |
Fenderek 16.05.2005 06:16 |
I'm so gutted- I love Fire and Water. Why didn't they play it in the fuckin' tent, as an apology???? ;) |

I was lucky enough to be at the Queen + PR show in Belfast last night and it was quite superb --- a really fantastic show. A wonderful 2hrs 40mins show --- longest of the tour i think. I would love to know how Q+PR felt about the gig and the venue --- i noticed during the encore [All Right Now and so on] Brian seemed to have some guitar amp issues or maybe a guitar lead issue? Maybe onstage guitar sound that was not coming through? Out front it was superb all night -- it really was. The sound, vocally and instrumentally was so powerful yet crystal clear too in that you could identify each part easily. But man -- WHAT A SOUND!!! made the old spine tingle at times :) A massive effort from the whole band too - Roger looked cream-crackered at the end after knocking seven bells out of the drum kit!!! :). The cat-walk is such a great idea i think -- i mean they were right in the middle of the crowd basically --- right in the melting pot if you like and Q+PR pulled it off magnificently. It felt very intimate and warm last night and i haven't heard an Oddysey crowd as loud as that before. And i've seen a few big bands there, Radiohead, and so on... It can be difficult, as a big Queen and Brian May fan, to remain objective about the gig but comparing it with those of other top bands i have seen over the years - Queen 1984 and 1986, U2 on several occasions, Radiohead, Stones etc --- this is right up there as one of the best gigs i have ever seen from a performance and sound/visual perspective. a really memorable night. What i noticed was that on the way out, overhearing other peoples comments and so on, and everyone to a man [and woman!] was saying "best show i have ever seen", "fantastic sound", "brian may is a guitar god", "queen are the best group i've ever seen" ... and so on. It was gushing stuff but entirely genuine too. Q+PR really made a mark in Northern Ireland last night. Thanks to Brian, Roger and Paul for making the effort to bring the show to Belfast --- the Odyysey is a great new arena and a credit to the city i think --- i hope it was as good from the performers perspective. Looking forward to catching the tour later on in July also. |
