Hey I was just thinking of a setlist if Queen had been able to tour in support of The Miracle. Let me know what you guys think. I think they should have included older songs as well as the new. One Vision or We Will Rock You (fast) starting I Want It All Somebody To Love It's A Hard Life Tear It Up Under Pressure Fat Bottomed Girls Staying Power Love Of My Life Scandal or Breakthru Princes Of The Universe or Keep Passing The Open Windows would be a neat surprise. The Miracle Hammer To Fall Another One Bites The Dust Medley: Forever, The Millionaire Waltz, Killer Queen, Good Old Fahioned Lover Boy or something with piano songs Who Wants To Live Forever I Want To Break Free Crazy Little Thing Called Love Radio Ga Ga We Will Rock You We Are The Champions God Save The Queen I excluded A Kind Of Magic because I don't like it but I'm sure it would've been played anyway. |

Neodave - your set list is much more likely. The first contains lots of "old" songs which I doubt they would play. |
bohemianrhap84 13.05.2005 11:06 |
What an idiot! I can't believe I forgot Bohemian Rhapsody. I agree that much of the older stuff wouldn't have been played but I would have liked to have seen them do some of them. |

I actually wrote a "review" of a Miracle tour from way back, years and years ago. I think Sir GH saved it, so if he feels inclined to, he could post it (with my permission of course). |

Here's Lester's Miracle tour experience, in its entirety: Setlist: Chinese Torture Breakthru (intro tape) Breakthru Khashoggi's Ship Tie Your Mother Down Somebody To Love I Want It All A Kind Of Magic Under Pressure Who Wants To Live Forever Spread Your Wings Don't Stop Me Now Scandal I Want To Break Free Now I'm Here Love Of My Life Is This The World We Created Jealousy My Melancholy Blues White Queen Friends Will Be Friends Bohemian Rhapsody Another One Bites The Dust Hammer To Fall Crazy Little Thing Called Love Radio Ga Ga -------------------------- Princes Of The Universe Was It All Worth It We Will Rock You (slow) We Will Rock You (fast) We Are The Champions God Save The Queen ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a seven year hiatus from performing in America, I finally had the opportunity to see Queen in my home city. The place - Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia. The date - June 29, 1989. I managed to get sixth row seats, dead center, and I was finally seeing Queen live. I'd heard about their previous three tours, and was smacking myself for not attending the shows on their Rock 'n America tour in 1982. Thankfully, they came back to America on the strength of the sales of "The Miracle", and it was as if they'd never gone away: they got a bigger reception than Bon Jovi at a Giants Stadium homecoming concert. The support group came and went - and for about twenty minutes, all you could hear was the chanting of 'Queen! Queen! Queen!' Homemade banners were held up at various points of the stadium, ranging from 'FREDDIE IS KING' to 'QUEEN ARE THE CHAMPIONS'. I even saw someone wearing a 1978 US tour T-shirt proudly. Then, the lights dimmed, and a regal sounding orchestra blasted over the PA. Was it Queen? That sounds like Brian May's guitar, but Queen never used an orchestra! This sounded great. Then, a familiar introduction erupted: 'When love breaks up...', and you should have heard the entire audience scream 'NOW!' as Freddie Mercury and the gang exploded onto the stage. 'Breakthru' was an apt opening song, propelled by John Deacon's bass and Roger Taylor's driving drums. The band are in fine form - even Freddie seems delighted to be back on stage. The song ends, and without missing a beat, Freddie yells, 'Who said my party was all over!' The band launch into 'Khashoggi's Ship', which features an extended jam during the middle. Freddie then greeted us: 'Hello Philadelphia, long time no see! We're gonna rock your arses off tonight, with an oldie but a goodie, a teensy little number we like to call, 'Tie Your Mother Down'!' Freddie never seemed to settle down - my girlfriend felt sorry for the cameraman who had to focus on filming Freddie for the back-projection screen. 'Somebody To Love' followed, with Freddie on piano, and Roger harmonized perfectly with Freddie. 'I Want It All', the single which reaffirmed my faith in Queen, came next, and Brian really let loose on the guitar on this one. Spike Edney also helped out on rhythm guitar, while Freddie danced around the stage. Of course, 'A Kind Of Magic' and 'Under Pressure' followed next, and there was a rumor that David Bowie would show up to perform on 'Under Pressure' - Tin Machine was originally supposed to be the support group, but that never came to fruition. The hauntingly beautiful 'Who Wants To Live Forever' followed, with Brian on keyboards and lead vocals for the first verse. 'Spread Your Wings' was next, and what an amazing song. It almost felt like it was 1977 again. Freddie then went off on his 'de da doo' route, to which the audience responded enthusiastically. After we followed every single one of his commands note perfectly, he grinned and said, 'You fuckers haven't changed a bit, have you! This is 'Don't Stop Me Now'.' My girlfriend noted that Freddie looked rather good with a beard and mustache. Oddly enough, Freddie commented |
The Real Wizard 15.05.2005 17:46 |
'I Want To Break Free' and 'Now I'm Here' came next, and Brian remarked after 'I Want To Break Free' that he would've liked to see Freddie appear with his false breasts and wig again. John suggested Freddie do that only if Roger dress up in his schoolgirl outfit, which resulted in cat calls and whistles from the audience. Brian then said, 'We're gonna rock you, Philly,' and blasted out the intro to 'Now I'm Here'. The lights dimmed for a second, and a single spotlight picked out Freddie and Brian on stools at the front of the stage. Brian announced, 'These two songs always seem to go hand in hand, but we're gonna try expanding it a little bit tonight. This is 'Love Of My Life'.' As usual, 'Is This The World We Created?' followed, and it seemed that the audience became temporary lead singers for these two songs. After 'Created' was over, Freddie walked over to the piano and said, 'OK, we've never done this one before,' and he plucked out the introduction to 'Jealousy', a song they'd never done in the live setting before. The audience listened quietly and intently - something that's very rare in concerts these days. Brian walked off the stage, and Roger and John came out while Freddie stayed at the piano. I had an idea of what song they were going to do, but the very fact that they were resurrecting 'My Melancholy Blues' was pretty much the highlight of the entire concert - up to that point, of course. Freddie concluded the song, then Brian came back out, and a stellar version of 'White Queen (As It Began)' followed. The band really shone on this one. Freddie then introduced the band: 'Brian May is over here on my left - your right - and he's the one who plays guitar. John Deacon is on my right - your left - and he just looks smashing tonight, doesn't he? Roger Taylor is behind me, and he's just plain smashed. Spike Edney is somewhere in the shadows, farting around on piano and guitar, while I'm running around this fucking stage working my arse off. We call ourselves Queen.' Roger smacks his snare drum twice, and the band launch into 'Friends Will Be Friends'. I heard they performed this as a medley between 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' in 1986, but I'm glad they performed a full version of this. 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Another One Bites The Dust', 'Hammer To Fall', and 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' all followed, and they were all performed perfectly. Freddie seemed delighted to dance around the stage with an acoustic guitar for most of 'Crazy Little Thing', while Spike Edney helped out on piano. Spike also played rhythm guitar on 'Hammer To Fall', and 'Bites The Dust' was a good chance for John to lay down some funky beats - they've really worked this one up from the previous tour. 'Radio Ga Ga' concluded the set, and left the audience screaming for more. Five minutes later, the lights darken, and all we hear is, 'Here we are. Born to be kings, we're the princes of the universe.' Smoke bombs go off as the band explode onto the stage again, launching into 'Princes Of The Universe'. As usual, the audience sings along to every word, prompting Freddie to remark, 'Hey you're good!' At the song's conclusion, the stage goes dark again, with laser beams, smoke, and lights creating a menacing effect while a keyboard drones and Brian creates feedback with his guitar. All of a sudden, Brian tears down the neck of his guitar, and the stage is bright again - 'Was it All Worth It'' The band leave the stage for about two minutes, before a single spotlight picks out Roger, and pounds out the intro to one of the most instantly recognizable songs ever - 'We Will Rock You'. Oddly enough, after the last chorus of 'We will, we will rock you,' instead of the guitar solo, the band launch into the fast version of the song, with a blazing bass guitar solo. We know the show is coming to a close, and Freddie addresses us again: 'This has been a truly magical night. You lot are great.' He sits down at the piano, and picks o |

Good set KJ but you forgot the big hits Bohemian Rhapsody Radio Ga Ga Crazy Little Thing Called Love Another One Bites The Dust I Want To Break Free I'm sure there wouldn't have been a show that all of these songs weren't played. Other than that your set was pretty good. I think on different nights they should rotate and play a song that was never or rarely played live. Would've been an awesome tour. |

If there was, I would want to have seen: Hang On In There I Want It All Breakthru Was It All Worth It Chinese Water Torture(in a Brian BR solo is fine) I would like to have seen some other notable ideas like: I always wanted to see a piano based live version of Love of My Life. I would like to have seen Queen bring back Prophet Song, Liar and Doing Alright. Most of all I would have like to have seen Queen one day retire the repetitive We Will Rock You/We Are The Champs ending they always did in their late tours. |

Some years ago I made a setlist for an imaginary 'Miracle tour' I tried to make it as realistic as possible, so no setlist with songs I wish they would have played but would never happen, like lots of songs from the first albums, but mostly hits, some live favourites and some old surprises, just like they did with the 'Magic tour'. 1) Breakthru Starting with a variation of the 12"-intro on tape. After the 'NOW' word Queen enters the stage and plays live the instrumental chorus just like in the extended version. After that the song is played like the regular version. 2) Fat bottomed girls After the last 'BREAKTHRUUUU' the last chord remains and Brian goes to the opening chord of FBG, after which the a cappella intro is sung, followed by the rest of the song. 3) White queen Just like they did on the Magic Tour with 'Lap of the gods'. This time the good old favourite is 'White queen'. 4) Hammer to fall Just the regular live version. 5) The miracle Freddie starts off at the piano and almost the complete song is played. Just when you expect the final section after 'TODAY!' Freddie continues att the piano played GOFLB. 6) Good old-fashioned lover boy Only two verses and two chorusses are played. The second chorus ends like the last chorus on the studio version. 7) Stone cold crazy Immediately after GOFLB has stopped, Roger counts '1,2,3,4' with his sticks and Stone cold crazy starts for one verse only. After 'STONE COLD CRAZY YOU KNOW', four hits from Roger on the hi-hat and the final short chord, Brian goes on with the opening riff of KYA. 8) Keep yourself alive One verse and one chorus only, immediately following by the opening chords of OV on the guitar by Brian (just like the first chords played 'live' at the Magic Tour). 9) One vision Two verses and two chorusses are played. After that the final section is played, followed by the long chord that is also played after the Magic Tour version of OV. 10) I want it all In the long final chord of OV Roger counts '1,2,3' and a cappella 'I WANT IT ALL etc' is sung. The song is is played completely like the album version from there one, quite the same as they did on the 2005 tour. 11) Under pressure Just the regular live version. 12) Love of my life After UP it's time to slow down things a little. Freddie and Brian play LOML together with the audience as usual. 13) Is this the world we created? ITTWWC is played like the previous live versions. 14) '39 / Stealin' I thought it would be a great idea to do an acoustic part with the whole band on this part of the show, just like they did in the early years, and like they did with a rocknroll-medley on the Magic Tour. '39 is taken from their early setlists and is played like they used to in the 70s. I thought it would be a neat surprise when they didn't play '39 at just a few gigs, but instead played an acoustic version of Stealin'. Only the first part of Stealin' was played, not the second part. 15) I want to break free After the acoustic set Spike start with the opening notes of IWTBF, giving the others the time to get back on their positions. IWTBF is played in the regular live version. 16) The invisible man When the last chord of IWTBF sounds, Freddie counts '1,2,3,4' and BAM! 'Im the invisible man etc' intro sounds (first two lines sung by Roger) and TIM is played, quite the same as the studio version. After Freddie shouts 'RRRRRRRRRRROGER TAYLORRR' Roger plays a short drums solo. 17) drums solo and guitar solo This drum solo is followed by the famous guitar solo of Brian (including Chinese Torture of course). 18) Now I'm here After the guitar solo is finished Brian plays the openings chords of NIH. NIH is played like the regular live version, including the 'yeah yeah teeedoh' part in the middle. 19) Another one bites the dust Just the regular live version. 20) A kind of magic Just the regular live version. Intro compared to the 2005 version. 21) Craz |
