I think that might have been to cover up for the fact that he had to stop touring. That's conjecture, but...
I think he loved touring. I think he could be satisfied with working in the studio, but I think if he hadn't been ill, he would've toured again as he revelled in the audience connection etc. Maybe not a tour every year, but for each album probably, and the albums would be every two years or so.
He stopped the leotards for the Magic Tour, and I think he'd've been in better shape/look better than the likes of Jagger if they'd been able to keep touring.
And look at the amount of money the Stones make (and Dire Straits made in the late 80s/early 90s). Queen would definitely have made that kind of money on their shows. They would've been huge and giving those bands a run for their money.
So I definitely feel that it was really the illness not the desire that put an end to touring.
I think that they would be doing some sort of concerts, just as Brian said they would. But I don't think that thir shows would be as flamboyant as they used to be.

Lol, yeah. Freddie said he wasn´t gonna be dancing in the same extravagant manner he did in the earlier years, because it would be ridiculous. We have to face it, it would look pretty strange, seeing a 50- year old Freddie prancing around the stage...
More interesting:
Do you believe nineteen years later from their last concert, would they still be starting the shows with a rocker, then a medley, some random hits, then gaming with the audience, Bo Rhap and finally an encore ending with WWRY/WATC?
i deffo think they would of still been together as freddie used to say why kill the goose that lays the golden egg!!! or something like that:)
freddie was the biggest show off on the planet and lived for an audience , imagine the music they would making!!!
