just j**ked *ff with some nice pictures on my PC... mebbe you should check forums.queenonline.com, a guy called Cliff will be text-messaging a forum visitor (Krissl). I expect first news there. |
Mercury-Alive 09.05.2005 16:22 |
Are normal answers possible tonight? I'm only interested in what queen is going to play in Sheffield! What do you think? |
Mercury-Alive 09.05.2005 16:23 |
He proton I know you, do you expect any new things tonight? |
Lester Burnham 09.05.2005 16:26 |
Is it necessary to post these? It's not like nobody's going to post their own reviews, for pete's sake. Take a quaalude and chill out, it will all come together eventually. |
proton 09.05.2005 16:27 |
well, logical would be a longer setlist with stuff like AOBTD and UP not replacing songs like 'Show', but you never know. Dunno about Wishing Well, they might drop a song like that because of copyright reasons , like they did with the Brixton 1993 video where the Lennon song was dropped. |
proton 09.05.2005 16:31 |
bytheway, in Ahoy some old guy (50+) was constantly filming the audience during the whole show! He walked up and down on the right side of the catwalk (if you are faced towards the stage). My wife and I were standing there. It is very possible that that footage will be used for the DVD! |
Mercury-Alive 09.05.2005 16:38 |
Proton, we were on the left side of the catwalk and I didn't see that guy, but what a great news. Have you got a good adience video recording of the ahoy show? |

Mercury-Alive 09.05.2005 16:55 |
thanks! |
Markman38 09.05.2005 16:56 |
Come on man I posted a joke on your over reacting this afternoon but somehow you missed the point. Just wait till someone posted the real setlist. Why are you so jumpy all the times? Every time a show is you posted if there is something new just before the shows started. What do you expect that they play Mad the Swine, Hangman, Silver Salmon, All God's People???? Don't forget that the last tour Queen did back in 86 was nothing more or less then a greatest hits jukebox with almost no suprises and with no rolling setlist. And now they have changed a lot for this complete new band, so please relax and don't start hours before every show with this same old dull question |
Mercury-Alive 09.05.2005 17:04 |
Thanks for all the compliments you gave to me. Now I'm satisfied! Goodnight, and have sweet dreams! |

More mis-information - let's call it an error of translation. No songs were dropped from the 1993 Brixton setlist. Brian's amended version of God was edited out of the released product, but was still performed (and almost certainly recorded). |

Outstanding show tonight. Was well worth going for. Paul was excellent live and did everything his own way..will definately look good on the dvd |

Same in Budapest - Rudi was filming the audience with two digital camcorders at once, then there was a girl from his team with another camcorder and one more guy with a film camera. |

ok then i really think thats the DVD in the making, unless a gig ends up better than it in the future! but i said it before and i'll say it again! "No more fucking ABBA!, oh wait no its "Lucky Bastards!" ^^ |

This setlist is just so complete ... this is what they probably were having in mind all the time ... but didn't get to it in time, because they just had to get used to be playing allt he time ... it really is a good setlist! |
james gaden 2072 10.05.2005 04:58 |
It was a tremendous show, Paul Rodgers was better than I could ever expect (and I was one of the people who had stuff by him when he was announced as Queen's bandmate, not somebody who said "Who"?), Roger and Brian were both tremendous, there wasn't a weak link in sight. The crowd were well into it and there were some real goosebump moments - Brian's mirrorball with 'Last Horizon' was staggering, Roger leading every single pair or hands in the place for the clapping in 'Radio Ga Ga' and Paul delivering vocals that should make his critics go and live in a cave and never speak again. Bad Company's 'Feel Like Making Love' was thunderous and I've never heard it played with such ferocity. 'Under Pressure' was great, sung by Roger and Brian (who took ther falsetto in the second verse which surprised and impressed me) but Brian said he doubts that will be on the DVD, it was "a bonus track for you guys". I hope thewy change their mind because it was excellent. It was a great night, the sound and lighting stunning, and should make for a superb DVD. JG |
Jimi 10.05.2005 07:10 |
Spot on James. It was my fourth and final show of the tour and it kicked all night long. The delivery of Pauls tracks was breathtaking and the fact that he was around for Hammer and IWIA just heightened the performance. Roger was immense again especially during his'i won't bore you with a long drum solo' and then tore into it with all the gusto of his mid seventies shows. Legendary. 1st Sheffield 2nd Newcastle 3rd Brixton 4th Birmingham |
Fenderek 10.05.2005 11:08 |
Amazing set list (same was in Cardiff though), great performance (Paul was AWESOME). Roger forgot the lyrics to These Are The Days... Audience was... CRAP!!!! That was the worsyt gig, when it gets to that, sorry Sheffield. Close to the stage, whole families who know only Greatest Hits. When Roger was playing breathtaking version of I'm In Love... they were standing wandering "What the hell is that?" I felt like I was the only one clapping or having fun... Brian sabg WHOLE 39- again, some didn't know what was it (the other half made up for them singing beautifully though...) Sheffield audience SUCKED big time, it was only great during Ga-Gas and We Will Rock You and the likes... What was funny- ppl were just standing during "Love My Car" and suddenly became alive during Guitar Solo (he plays the same fuckin' thing every night!), just because the camera was on them... The gig was greatm although IMO the ULTIMATE gig (when it gets to PERFORMANCE) was Manchester. The best setlist- yes, Sheffield (Cardiff was in different order, but the audience was great)... Dunno- have mixed feelings. Band was great, up for it, focused; it IS going to be a great DVD. But they'll have to edit nicely the footage, to cover all those ppl that were just standing... Dunno- maybe those who saw only that gig thought the audience was good. That was my fifth gig and it was the worst one (AUDIENCE, not gig). Sorry. |
tomtoms 10.05.2005 12:20 |
Where we at the same concert Fenderek? The crowd were rocking, we just about lifted the roof off at the end. I didn't join in with I'm in Love With My Car because shock horror, like a lot of other people, I absolutely hate it. Kudos to Brian shedding a tear during Love Of My Life, that really did give me goosebumps. |
Fenderek 10.05.2005 12:29 |
Probably we werent at the same gig... :) OR- how many gigs have you seen? It was simply the worst udience I saw at this tour. PPl were alive during hits (GaGa, WWRY etc) , dead during less known tracks (if 39 is really that rare...), than alive again when the camera was in their faces... I was standing in the second row to the catwalk, right side of the stage (in front of Brian) and even there it was full of families who couldn't recognise 39... It was the quiter version of LOML I've heard. Honestly, some were more interested in being on DVD than seeing a gig and supporting a band. I repeat- pitty, as when the band oplayed the begining, it was AMAZING- incredible energy, probably the best on tour so far. But with energy it goes like that- you giv esome and you need some back from the audience, so you can give even more... The audience didn't give too much back, the gig died... It was good, sure. It's going to be excellent DVD. But in Manchester, Birmingham or Cardiff the audience really rocked... |
Fenderek 10.05.2005 12:30 |
tomtoms wrote: we just about lifted the roof off at the end..Yeah, exactly- at the end... Because everybody knows WWRY, and Champions. But hey- there were about 25 other songs in the setlist... |
THEVIVID1 10.05.2005 12:35 |
I was there & i knew every word to every song except some of Paul's stuff. Got to admit tho apart from a woman beside me & a girl behind me no one seemed to know the words to the non-greatest hits stuff. Every one really clapped & cheered hard tho. A mate of mine was at the back & he said the noise from the crowd was very loud up there. I was up against the barrier at the front about 4 feet along from Brian & it sounded a bit quiet behind me between songs & there seemed to be a bit of reverb off the back wall at times so you were getting an echo effect at times. Great show though & awesome setilist. Cheers guys, dream come true!!! |
Crockerdile 10.05.2005 12:49 |
That was one helluva good show, I was expecting Paul Rodgers to be good but not as fantastic as he turned out to be, jeez can that man sing! As people have already said on this forum, the naysayers of this tour really do need to hang their heads in shame if they claim to be fans of the music of Queen... that was quite something, definite added bonus that come Chrimbo or whenever I'll have the ultimate souvenir of it in all :o) The crowd were quite varied in their reactions to it all, as someone said before they came alive for the big big hits, did the handclapping for Radio Ga Ga etc but from way up in the distant seats as I was you could observe the floor crowd who didn't "seem" to be jumping around very much... perhaps those down there could say more definitely on that, as for stand seats such as where I was, you had a lot of middle aged folk who couldn't move and make much noise even if they wanted to!, my little group made what noise we could! hurrah! Oh well, anyway, definitely a fantastic evening's entertainment... Ian Hunter at Leeds Irish Centre next week... another show to look forward, bit smaller scale mind :o) |

Hi All, I was there, on the main floor. The gig was awsome and Brians guitar solo was the best performance of it I have heard and seen. I sang and knew the words to all the songs, like someone else said about half sang to 39, but that will happen at every major gig ( not just Queen ), Not everyone knows all the lyrics. Rogers performance was moving and Pauls delivery perfect. And the crowd did rock in all the right places. A fantastic night and I can't wait for the DVD. Alright now was delivered well too, and there are going to be plenty of spots where the crowd are heard. Thanks guys for a memorable night. |
Fenderek 11.05.2005 05:54 |
I'm sure they'll edit DVD nicely, I'm sure. It's gonna look like the wildest crowd there ever was... |
stormtrooperinstilettoes 11.05.2005 06:03 |
why were there so many tall guys in the audience at Sheffield?? I seemed to have a whole posse of them in front of me!! Was only about 10 peple back from the stage but struggled to see at times!! "Funny how the pages turn and hold us in between...." |
tomtoms 11.05.2005 06:23 |
stormtrooperinstilettoes I know what you mean, there was loads of tall fellas, I was about 15ft in front of the catwalk and had to keep jumping up and down to see stuff. We breed them big up north. |
Jimi 11.05.2005 06:41 |
Fenderek you are right about the crowd relative to the other dates.I was on the ground Brians side. It was a subdued audience. I felt like i was duetting with Brian on LOML !! I took my son , his first major concert , he's 11 and he snag his heart out for at least 75% of the concert.Far more than a lot of the fuckers that just stood motionless waiting for fucking WWRY no doubt. As i said earlier, great performance but Newcastle pissed on this for atmosphere. P.S yes too many tall people.Ban 'em ! |
stormtrooperinstilettoes 11.05.2005 07:05 |
I was on Brians side of the catwalk too - lots of lovelt lovely people there. Lots of families - mums and dads with kids who had gotten into the music. Wish I could have takne my kids but they are only 2 and 4. The tall people all seemed to be studenty age - too many pot noodles if you ask me. I live in yorkshire myself though orginally from down south. I must say I was amazed at how helpful the staff were at the arena - even down to a car park bloke who let us park in the staff car park so that we wouldn't have to walk too far back to the car (being two women and all that). I remember staff at the Hammersmith odeon and wembley arena being really officious at queen gigs. Kez |
stormtrooperinstilettoes 11.05.2005 07:26 |
on the subject of singing - I have got to agree with Jimi there. Too many people standing around not singing - not knowing what '39 or I'm in Love with my car was. I sang every word of every song and am still hoarse today. Incidently did anyone catch the riff from White Man and Its Late??? Bri was just teasing us - little monkey. I would have wet my pants if they had done Its Late! Kez |
Jimi 11.05.2005 08:16 |
Yeah the tall people seemed to appear from nowhere. Suddenly my lad , who is 5 ft 2,so fairly tall for his age was stood directly behind a 9ft monster with long black hair. Mind you that was Brian May... I did spot the Its late thing. I've banged on about that for months. Its gotta be the most appropriate great track for Pauls voice.Scandalous ommission. To quote my good friend at Newcastle. ''If they play Its Late or White Man i'll fill me pants. FRONT AND BACK!'' It was funny at the time......! |
stormtrooperinstilettoes 11.05.2005 13:58 |
Jimi were you standing on Bri's side? There was a lurch like figure with shoulder length black hair just in front of us with a lad with blonde hair nextv to him (he was tall too). I was a short arse bint with red hair and a sheer heart attack t shirt - I wonder if you were the bloke and younger lad standing next to me - cos the lad was singing nearly as loud and manically as me!!! Kez PS funny about the Its Late and White man stuff! I have had to listen to Its Late umpteen times today! My kids are sick of it!! |
Jimi 12.05.2005 08:42 |
Nice one! I was wearing a very stripy long sleeved shirt and white t shirt. My Lad was wearing all that blue Nike 90 stuff . He was going for it to be fair! He put me to shame during I Want to Break Free! Where did them weird guys come from??? There was 2 absolute dickheads who were pretending to look for there mates and even pretended to ring him up as if that was gonna get them past me! Fuck off!!!They ain't got any mates.... If you post on this board you're a pair of dicks! |
Jimi 12.05.2005 09:07 |
I also wondered at Newcastle if the beginning of FBG was also the riff from Love Token? Any offers? I'm probably wrong. No Its Late at Wembley either then..... Good ! I wasn't there! |
Fenderek 12.05.2005 09:09 |
I think you're actually right with Love Token!!! It was definitel;y played few times! I was wandering about that riff! You're right- it IS there! |
Jimi 12.05.2005 10:44 |
Thank God i'm not alone on that one! Thought i might be going (slightly) mad. It must be 5 years since i heard that track and something clicked in my head when he started FBG. Glad he stopped cos i never liked it! Its late would have been the killer track of the night. And here is the rub. If the audiences were as lame as we seem to think it would have done no harm commercially to play a few tracks we discussed for ages on here.I still think the set list was overly safe. I mean nothing from the first 3 albums (???????)C'mon thats a crime. |
stormtrooperinstilettoes 12.05.2005 10:54 |
Jimi - I do remember you! And your lad rivaled me on the singing!! Most impressed!! Though my friend tells me that I was drowning out the band - hey ho!! Still hoarse after 3 days!! That must a record. Lots of dickheads at the front trying to push through but no bugger gets pass this gal I tell ya! Kez |
Jimi 12.05.2005 11:01 |
Good work! I was knackered when i got outta there.Fortunately i wasn't driving as i'm only 25 miles away so we opted for the train. There's nothing worse than sitting in the car for an hour going nowhere. Newcastle was great as i booked into the Jurys Hotel which is over the road from the Arena. Very handy! |
