I don't know who Richard Smith is but all I know is that it was taken from a no-longer available official limited-edition collection.
It was a collection in France called "Les Plus Grands Hits Des Années 60-70" and it was the CD number 33. There were 38 volumes and 40 CDs as volume 2 and volume 3 had 2 cds each.
It was available in Canada around 1997-1998.
Very limited as when the collection stopped, they also stopped making the albums. I didn't miss any volume ! :D
14 hits x 40 albums is quite a lot of covers.
However, there were only 4 Queen covers : Bohemian Rhapsody on volume 26, Somebody To Love on volume 29, We Are The Champions on volume 33 and Another One Bites The Dust on volume 38.
Here's We Are The Champions. link
I may upload the others when I have the time and...when I find those damn CDs too ! Lol
I find Smith's voice too high. I think I used the right word. Anyway, there's something I don't like besides the drum machine...
Dan, who's happy to share anything from Quebec or France...
I also have a performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by "Du Rock À L'Opéra" on their album "Live At The Casino Of Montreal". But I think this album is still in circulation...though it's pretty rare. Took me years to get it. What a brilliant rendition by this man and the 2 other women !
