This is on queenonline today 4/27/05.
I got VERY excited at the headline "OFFICIAL WORD"...then when I opened the page up and read it...it's another red herring...more maybe, if,...
Why don't they just wait and post official dates ONLY IF they actually decide to do a U.S. Tour instead of regularly bait and switching with red herrings. Or put a headline such as..Possibility of U.S. Tour", Not "OFFICIAL WORD". I got all excited over nothing! Rats! This is driving me nuts!
Here's what it says.
US DATES - OFFICIAL WORD
"The band and Paul Rodgers are looking at the possibility of doing some dates in the US following the great success of the tour in Europe."
"Rumours have been rife on the possibility of US and rest of the World shows since the announcement of the European tour, but no dates have been officially confirmed."
I agree the announcement was pants !
However reading between the lines I think a U.S tour is now virtually certain - I think Brian and Roger are confident that they can re-establish Queen there as a proper rock band after all the shite 80s publicity.

I can sort of figure it out..but I am from the USA..and I see you are from the UK..and "pants" is a new UK term to me. Does that mean BS?
without swearing pants means "not very well done"
ie BS (I think) ;-)
It's nice that we can bridge the cultural divide !
I hope for you that they tour the U.S

Yeah just like their promise to sort out Scottish dates was pants as well. 23 years and still waiting......

So if you got excited all for nothing, arlene, why did you use the topic title that you did and get our hopes up for nothing, too?
sheesh...
Yes perhaps
it should have said
'hey folks dont read too much into it but because of rumours and internet specutlation here is the offical word about a supposed us tour'
US DATES - OFFICIAL WORD -- i mean from this absolutely no one would even think to think that it was a statement or official statement from the powers that be... nope not a one...
jeesh :-)
i still say...save!

Actually, I believe the Concordes have been out of service for a few years now...

Well spotted, Alli :)
If there should be an American tour you will hear the news first on Queenzone, wegotit, queenconcerts, queenwhatever, mostunlikelyrumours.com and when the tickets have been sold, there will be an official statement on QOL. Let's hope there won't be a lottery:)
Hey Dan :^) I will be working at a new daycare thirty hours a week from now on! I got the job two weeks ago and started it this week. It's going pretty well so far...
Well, look at it this way - when they announced in late 2004 that they were hitting the road with PR, it wasn't until January until all the Euro dates were announced, and tickets were sold in January, too, 2 months before any of the concerts.
IF they do plan to do a U.S. tour, and IF it does happen in the autumn (as is RUMORED in Sept/Oct from what I've read) - I'm sure that dates and ticket sales won't be announced until ~maybe late May, or maybe as far out as June or July.
Just my logic....
I'm pretty sure we will see you soon in the USA. It will be a BIG thrill. We have all waited a long long time...
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
SAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *LOL*
