Apparently, according to a post by the forum administrator on the QOL notice board, one of the support acts was confirmed yesterday. They can't say who it is as yet, but are sure it will be leaked soon. Any idea's folks? |
DragonOnMyBack 27.04.2005 09:04 |
My guess would be Wire Daises and/or The Darkness. I have no inside knowledge or anything just my stab in the dark. |
Richard Orchard 27.04.2005 10:35 |
The Darkness are too big to be their support. |
DragonOnMyBack 27.04.2005 11:03 |
I realise that the Darkness are pretty big but do you think they could fill Hyde Park themselves? It might be a good opportunity for them to play to 85,000 people and introduce themselves to a wider audience / new fans. I might well be wrong be I can see why they might be attracted to that. I guess we won't know who the support acts are until they decide to annonce them officially. I personally don't mind I will be there to see Queen+PR any other act is a bonus. |
Teo_torriate04 27.04.2005 11:09 |
Ian Hunter. The Darkness. Def Leppard. In that order. (Well you never know)! |
Erin 27.04.2005 11:23 |
I can't see the Darkness opening for them. I would lean more toward Wire Daisies...but really I don't care cause I won't be there..*sob* ;-( |
Rich Tea 27.04.2005 12:33 |
God forbid its the Darkness I have never heard such a contrived god awful vocalist in my whole life. Lets hope its a decent band or bands Muse for example. |
DragonOnMyBack 27.04.2005 13:57 |
According a a announcement on Brian May's website a while ago there is going to be 2 support acts at Hyde Park. I agreed that the Wire Daises would be good for one spot. The question is who would be best for the other. |

Be funny if it was the Immortals |

From QOL, 04.27.05 2:20 pm Eastern Time: Queen + Paul Rodgers are pleased to announce that they can now confirm Brit Rockers Razorlight as support at Hyde Park, London on Friday 8th July. |
Boy Thomas Raker 27.04.2005 14:36 |
Bummer. Near Death Experience would have been a better choice. |
Negative Creep 27.04.2005 14:40 |
While I'm not a big fan of Razorlight, they really will put Q&PR to shame. Their shows are very energetic and theyre a tight band.... exactly what Q&PR AREN'T. |
hcrvelin 27.04.2005 14:42 |
I have Razorlight album and they are good, but I would never imagine seeing them as support act for this gig. Oh well, why not :) |
k01olnug 27.04.2005 15:54 |
ive seen razorlight in alexandrer palace they do a bloody good show. |
Negative Creep 27.04.2005 16:39 |
Why the fuck would I have seen them in Rotterdam? Did they suddenly come alive that night?! I was at the Brixton show and have listened to a number of bootlegs from the shows after it. Theyre not tight by any stretch of the imagination. |
Knute 27.04.2005 22:57 |
A bunch of johnny-come-lately punks who claim they are better songwriters than John Lennon are going to blow Q+PR off the stage? In a stadium packed full of Queen fans? BWAA HA HA HA HA!! Thanks for the fucking laugh! They'll be lucky to get thru their set without getting pelted by bottles and trash! |
DragonOnMyBack 28.04.2005 04:21 |
I saw razorlight a few months ago supporting the Manic Street Preachers. They were okay but I was not that impressed. |
Benn 28.04.2005 06:22 |
The Darkness have said that they will not perform again until work on their second album is complete. I the meantime, Justin will release a solo album of material that is vastly different from the ditrection the band is going - it's synth-heavy apparently..... |
fat_buddino 28.04.2005 11:30 |
I noticed that someone wrote The Darkness are too big for a support slot. Don't bet on that one. James Brown supported The Chilis on their UK tour last year. Work that one out!! Shouldn't that have been the other way round? ... not that I'm trying to imply Queen + PR should support The Darkness of course. |
Wayne Gretzky 28.04.2005 12:23 |
The Darkness are bigger than Queen+PR right now. It would be more likely that Q+PR supported Darkness. |

According to reviews I've read Razorlight are brilliant playing in places like The Apollo and The Odeon, but when it's a big place, all you hear is feedback and low pitched moaning. Razorlight's frontman is an arrogant twat as well. He goes on about how good his songs are. They are o.k but nothing special in my book. I'm surprised he will humble himself supporting an old band. |

Nothing will make me hate a new band faster than that kinda shit. I don't ever recall Lennon or Jagger talking about how their songs blew Chuck Berry's away. |

The Darkness have already played at Knebworth as support to Robbie Williams 2 years ago so they wouldn't need the experience of playing support to a smaller crowd. |
RohemianBapsody 29.04.2005 07:50 |
Plus The Darkness would not feel it is beneath them to act as support for Queen. |
hcrvelin 29.04.2005 13:56 |
I just read press release for Razorlight and Q+PR in Hyde Park. They are quoting Roger and there is one thing which I don't understand. Here is the quote: >>Says Queen’s Roger Taylor, “Some might be surprised by it, but Brian and I definitely listen to the new bands coming through. In addition to Razorlight there are several other bands we would love to have with us in London. It’s great these boys said yes.” << Now, when Roger says "several bands" is he thinking like "we have several bands yet in option so we'll see which one will confirm availability and will to join us" or is he hinting that more than 2 bands will be out there as support acts? |
fat_buddino 29.04.2005 14:08 |
'The Darkness are bigger than Queen+PR right now. It would be more likely that Q+PR supported Darkness.' You won't be saying that when their next album ends up in the Bargain bin at HMV... should it ever get released at all that is! |
hcrvelin 29.04.2005 14:20 |
I really love The Darkness, but they are not bigger than Q+PR are. Both Q and PR individually were bigger even before this tour started (and so are now). The Darkness have only one album behind them and rather bright future according to what they shown so far and that's all. I personally really don't see the problem having them as support act and I believe they would love it too. Besides, fans and media are very aware of connection between sounds of these two (Q and TD) so it makes even more sense to have them. I was hoping that perhaps Zuttons will appear, but they are on support act list for a next day on REM gig. Muse, my personal favorite, don't fit really the whole concept of support act anymore (even I would love to see collaboration between Bri and Matt one day). No matter what, Hyde Park gig is going to be fantastic! Right now I'm very optimistic even we still don't know much about the other acts. |

Razorlight are officially fucking amazing. Saw them at Ally Pally in March, brilliant evening, can't wait for them supporting. Hopefully I won't use all my energy moshing to Razorlight and save something for Queen. Great choice, here's hoping 2nd support is just as good. |
Richard Orchard 02.05.2005 10:02 |
The Darkness' last UK tour is much bigger than Queen's. I think they were playing Wembley 3 or four times. Same with Birmingham NEC, etc. |

Saw the darkness the day the tour was anounced and they were cool. but I am hoping to see the foo fighters there. They are in europe on the thursday, and in scotland on the saturday, will they call in London for the Friday evening? The first time I saw them at Brixton, Bri & Roger played with them also, maybe they will repay the favour. |
