I'm currently buying all the queen albums on cd, i have a night at the opera, day at the races, the game, kind of magic and innuendo.
Which three should i get next?
You fine fine people, I thought I was the only person who had ever bought that! I love it! As good as most of what Queen did, and a hell of a lot better than the works! (I think I'm going to get shouted at again. Heh heh heh)
I like Queen 1 better than Queen 2... both are must haves though.
Just remember, Queen were singing about scorcerers, fairy kings, king rats, and themes from midevil times on Queen 1 and Queen 2.
Innuendo and Queen 1 sound like two completely different bands. While us fanatics can here Queenism's all over the place...
If you pulled 100 average people off the street, I'm not sure they would know that Queen 1 or 2...and Innuendo were written and recorded by the same band.
Thats what I love about Queen...the versatility.
Sheer Heart Attack and Hot Space have nothing in common.
I love them both.

I agree. They are so different!
I love all Queen albums - including....well kind of including Hot space! - and I believe all of them are special, but I much prefer the more recent albums to the earlier ones. I don't think it means one is not a "good fan" if one prefers Innuendo to Queen 1 and 2 :-)

Sheer Heart Attack is a good one to try, some great songs.
I'd definitely go for queen and queen II in that order, in my opinion, they're the best 2 queen albums, and what better place to start than at the beginning?
I'd go for Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits II or Greatest Hits III. Then, listen to them, decide what are your favorite songs and buy the album that comes up with the highest number of songs that you like...is that a good idea ?
Well...Queen, Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack don't really go in that category. "Seven Seas Of Rhye" and "Killer Queen" are the only ones on those albums if my memory is correct...That doesn't mean they are bad, far from that ! But if you want to here the Queen that most people know, don't go for them.
If you want to here the era when Queen only wrote songs with weird meanings and about the medieval times with Ogres, King Rats and etc...then Queen and Queen II are perfect for you.
My own personal advice besides the Greatest Hits ? Hum...are to say...but I'd go for "Made In Heaven" as you can find Freddie's last recordings with the band.
Up to you if you haven't finished buying Queen stuff...:P
Dan.
Well, you have already gotten so much advice that I won't add more to it. One thing I 've got to saay though:
I envy you a lot for not having heard all the Queen albums yet. I remember what a thrilling experience it was not to know what to expect and being surprised and overwhelmed by new great songs of my favourite band. I hope there will be something I haven't heard one day...(boxsets? guess not...)
Enjoy the experience :)
actually i might get hot space now, i like waht i've heard so far
under pressure
las palabras de amor
back chat
body language

yeah.. same overhere. First time you hear a new song from the band you like most. What a GREAT feeling. Especially when the song is March Of The Black Queen
I you wanna have a cheap life, buy Flash Gorden and you'll never listen to Queen again ;-)
Just kidd'n... I would recommend Jazz, just because it's my favourite. Hot Space is not that bad... It's different.

This is the best Queen material in my opinion:
1. Queen II
2. The Works
3. Hot Space
4. Jazz
If you're not into dance music, wait for a while before getting Hot Space
Two possiblities.
Buy Hot Space. If you like it, don't hesitate to buy the rest because it's all better from there.
Queen II would be the best you don't have and my favorite. It only has Seven Seas that you have likely heard of but the other tracks are amazing, especially The March of the Black Queen and White Queen tracks.
