I have the POD ST PRO (not the big rack mounted one) but the regular one
Can anyone help me with settings or whatnot to get a Brian May tone? there is a Bo Rhap setting on there which sounds like the Deaky amp however im thinking more of an AC30 over driven sound, can anyone help with settings for the guitar (Brian May Red Special pickup options) and POD settings for different Brian sounds (ie different songs etc) im looking for a decent tie your mother down (magic tour era) tone
can anyone help??

A Valvetronix Tonelab is better for getting the Brian May sound in the realm of simulation, I think. But ask over at brianmayworld.com - they're sure to know something that will give you a nice Brian May tone from your Line6.
Hey Kev!
Sorry, I missed this one earlier on.
Great, I use the Line 6 Spider Stereo amp and loving it! ;-)
I know that Pod does a lot of different things to your sound, but maybe this can be of any help.
Though it may depend on the guitar you use and your own taste, these are my settings for a May-ish sound, playing at 'living-room' volume ;-) (on an Ibanez):
The distortion on 'Insane' and turn it up to 10
Add a little bit of chorus
Add a little bit of delay (use the 'ping-pong'-one for a wider effect - if you are getting a stereo output, that is...)
Bass to around 5
Treble to around 7
Mid to around 9
Channel volume half way
Reverb to whatever you like, but I prefer around 4-ish
These are just basics. And again this is what sounds right on my set-up (not a pod but the amp and not a BM guitar but Ibanez). Hope it helps. You don't need any other effects. These settings sound most like BM's late-70's rhythm sound (example: these settings are pretty close to what Brian did on WWRY fast/Entertain you and stuff on Live Killers) and his Back To The Light-sound for solo's.
Also usefull for TYMD - though these settings are a bit 'warmer' and fuller then the Wembley 86 sound.
Cheers, dear! ;-)
p.s.: be carefull with volume: this might sound pretty nasty on headphones!! In general the sound through headphones is not very nice to listen to - beware that the sounds straight out of an amp will be considerably different!
Yesterday finally tried it without headphones (before played only with them). Sounds really good! I started palying with changing amps and adding delays and basically tinkering with the INSANE thing and came up with some wonderful stuff. GREAT! I have to say- I have never used this one before! What was wrong with me...? :) I'm sure I'll be using it regularly now :)
Hey Fenderek,
Glad you like my setting ;-)
Yeah, it took me a while to realy get into the 'insane' thing too... But with the right settings it doesn't sound as 'insane' as the name makes you expect ;-)
Any updates on your plans for Cologne???
Cheers!
