"I don't know really" is all he can say and he brings a bodyguard at that like it was 2005 and he's P Diddy with a posse or people are out to get him..I was very...puzzled by the entire experience and interview. Quite...odd.
On the one hand, I would think John would be happy that the press shined the spotlight on him for a change, instead of Freddie, Brian & Roger who usually got more of the attention....but
even let's say John is very shy or introverted and doesn't like to do press...then he just shouldnt have done it. I actually feel bad for the poor journalist. He didn't say or do anything wrong, and he asked decent questions about John and his music and got no real answers, and John sounds like he was intentionally avoiding even talking. I also just don't like the way John brought along that bodyguard..weird.
I'm amused with this "interview". :)
Deacon is a bit odd and quite introverted, but that makes him (in my eyes) - funny.
Do you feel the irony of it - INTROVERTED SUPERSTAR!! :))
...sounds like good script for some "seinfeldesque" sitcom... :)
p.s.!!! :))) link
I went on that website...and John gave GREAT in depth interviews, to many other journalists and seemed quite the congenial guy. Maybe this was just a bad day for him or something was on his mind that day...you know bad timing...

This answer is a little telling:
15) What one thing (concept, object, happening etc) has scared you since childhood and still scares you today?
ILLNESS AND DEATH.
Maybe this is why he seemed to take Fred's death so hard?

It seems like he is trying to answer every question with the shortest answer possible...
----shy, almost - who talks quietly, either rambling on aimlessly about nothing in particular, or shrugging his shoulders and mumbling, "I don't know really," to most of my questions.----
My god that is SO ME!!! I always ramble on about nothing. Everybody complains about it too. And "I don't know really" is my answer to a lot of questions. My teachers don't like that.
While it's entirely possible that this is an accurate account, it's equally likely that Mr Deacon spent two hours answering all sorts of questions, saying "I don't know really" three times and giving coherent, even long answers for the rest of the time, which the intrepid journo cut out, leaving a boring guy who's out of touch with the kids etc etc.
I'd suspect that the truth was somewhere in between.
