i would too here from any one who was at wembley 86 as i have the dvd and theres a song named hello marylou goodbye heart and i wondering if there is a full version bye queen
I have said many times on QZ, that Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye Heart is my favorite song that Queen covers in their 50's/60's medley in Live At Wembley Stadium. I think that Freddie & Queen actually do it MUCH better than the original version by Ricky Nelson, (which was quite pretty though).
I would like a full version, if there is one as well.
that is such a good Question. hopefully some one who went to the concert will write a reply. some of the close-ups of the people clapping there hands together during radio ga ga look like they were really having a blast. wish one of them would send a reply as to what it was like to be there at that great concert.
i was there saturday and it was a blast
enjoyed inxs - great live band
also liked the alarm
remember thinking that when status quo came on that queen had picked the wrong support act - quo were unbelievable - really go the whole party started - and the rain - bloody hell- it was incredible for mid-july (even in england)
then queen came on - and it was MAGIC - what with the baloons forming an "escape party" - i think the one even had a forged passport for when it hit got to europe -
the setlist was a good "greatest hits" thing with a great balance of new/old - particularly like the early stuff medley
do remember being disappointed at the omission of Don't Stop me Now and Somebody To Love
(incidentally) was DSMN the quickest "drop from setlist" hit ever? one fucking tour!!!
almost forgot - it took FOUR hours to get out of the car park, out of Ealing broadway and onto the A40 to head to the midlands (there was no M40 in those days)
while we waited in the wembley car park some car smashes lightened the interminal delays
1 - someone waiting on a ramp slipped their clutch and rolled down into the car in front causing a four car domino effect type shunt - all in slow motion
2. someone thinking they'd spotted a gap stuck their car into gear and sped into the "gap" only to find it was a stopped car who turned his lights and engine off "CRUNCH!!!!"
- we pissed ourselves laughing at that
i think the major cause of the delay that night was Boy George was taken into Acton Police Station for questioning re: a friends body being found in his london flat - please check this as i'm not sure - but their were loads of blue lights and claxons going for ages
found this - bloody hell - memory almost still working at 43
July 1986
