I am posting this on personal topics because it's fun but I want to discuss it. In the video for TSMGO, there are tons of highlights and clips from various Queen videos. One clip I have NO idea what video or concert it's from...shows Freddie and Roger performing, and a HUGE splash of a TON of water burts onto Freddie (who I think is playing his cream telecaster electric guitar) and onto Roger while he's drumming and they are performing. If anyone out there has seen the movie "Flashdance" from 1983, (One of my ALL time Favorite films), the most infamous seen of the character Alex dancing, is when she is sitting on a chair on stage, she pulls a lightbulb chord hanging from the ceiling as if to turn it on, and a HUGE Splash of water hits her as she begins dancing! Really cool! Well, everytime I watch TSMGO it reminds me of that, happy memories of the film, and more so of Freddie, and Queen, having fun. Anybody know what concert or video that clip is from and what's the whole uncut sequence like when the HUGE splash of water hits both Freddie and Roger? SO COOL!!!! |

I love the Flashdance Soundtrack. I remember being 5 years old and listening to it because my aunt had the vinyl record, and she'd play it endlessly. Also another Queen/Flashdance link is Giorgio Moroder who wrote (I believe) most songs from the soundtrack, and worked with Freddie on 'Love Kills'. Giorgio Moroder was indeed a master of synthesized 80s pop, perhaps Queen should have hired him to produce a couple of tracks instead of Mack. |

I have two LP's of the Flashdance soundtrack myself (one from Germany and one from Canada, I think). Good music for its time :) And Giorgio Moroder wouldn'tve been a bad choice for working with Queen, I guess. But then again, "Love Kills" DID feature Brian and Roger as well, so that's the closest we'll ever get to a Queen + GM collab. |

I used to fancy Jennifer Beales especially when she did that dance movements (the stuff that appears in the video to the song Flashdance). And then I discovered that most of the dance parts in that bit were done by a man that they used as a body double!!! I found that out when he appeared on Sky One's TV Years program. |

Thanks guys..Flashdance is in my TOP 5 all time favorite films, and film soundtracks which I have worn out. Byt the way the main dancer, was French ballet/acrobatic dancer Marine Jahan who danced the cool part in the splash of water in Stilleto high heels, and at the end, for the audition/recital, with a male breakdancer doing well the breakdancing. But....please answer my question about Freddie & Roger....what concert or video has them BOTH being splashed By a HUGE Burst of water while performing...remember Freddie is playing his Cream Telecaster while Roger is drumming? Please somebody must know this, and tell me what the full clip has.... |

Guys...I love the movie and soundtrack...which I said...but I brought it up to answer this question....SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER IT!!!!... In the video for The Show Must Go On, there are tons of highlights and clips from various Queen videos. One clip in TSMGO, I have NO idea what video or concert it's from...shows Freddie and Roger performing, and a HUGE splash of a TON of water burts onto Freddie (who I think is playing his cream Telecaster electric guitar) and onto Roger while he's drumming and they are performing... (which reminded me of the sequence when Jennifer Beals in Flashdance is sitting in a chair, she pulls the chord to a lightbulb switch as if to turn it on, and instead, a HUGE splash of water bursts onto her, which is why I brought Flashdance..which I love!, up) But, what concert or video has Freddie playing his cream Telecaster, and Roger Drumming and BOTH of them get Splashed with a HUGE burst of water while still performing...and what's the entire uncut clip like and their reaction? |

I dunno. I know what you are talking about.. Looks like Freddie just threw some water in the air out of a cup.. And Roger was just hitting water on his drum from what I can tell..two separate clips. |

The Freddie clip is from the works tour 1984/1985, Brussels maybe? from the type of pants he had on those were the early works tour pants, I dont think they are from the Japan shows or the 2 Rio's. |
doremi 20.04.2005 18:07 |
What's the full sequence like? Did they splash water all over Freddie and Roger? By the way...just a thought, how does a musician play ELECTRIC plugged in insturments with ELECTRIC sound, lighting, wires, and chords all over the stage...while splashing water for theatrics...without FRYING! |

Simply 2 concerts scene's put toghther I know Roger sometimes put water in his drum( other drummers do as well) so when they hit it, water splashes out in some special effect way (cheap way) but none less simply exciting for young horny female fans hoping to get laid by any band member. For the Freddie scene, he just simply tosses water in the air, does a upper body shake as it crashes down, Thrus this, exciting any young gay male audiance members, after seeing it, I would guess it is Brussels or Brigmhan during the euro works tour. |

you dont need to worry about that on the drums and I think the wires on the stuff is grounded, I have seen a few concerts in the rain where the guitar player plays a little in the rain, so it must be grounded. |

You are right. They are brief clips in the video so the full footage is not there, but Freddie looks like he is standing in water crashing down on him (which as you said, he probably had already thrown in the air over himself). Freddie is wearing red leather pants and playing his cream Telecaster guitar in the clip, if that helps telling you what tour/concert it's from. Roger hits his drums and water splashes out. So COOL!!!! I really miss that I NEVER got to see them LIVE in concert. Geez, when I see stuff like this it's so cool! |
