I was just looking at a concert DVD in Barnes & Nobles called "Queen We Will Rock You The Definitive Performaces of Queen" on MobileVision 2001. I did not buy it which I will get to why in a minute. It's all concert footage produced by Mack & I guess videos...all w/ Freddie and Queen. My question, the COVER photo is of Freddie and the band, Freddie is playing acoustic guitar...and I stared at that photo for some 30 minutes, (The manager must have thought I was nuts), because I'd SWEAR, you can see Freddie wearing a SLIDE on his hand on the neck of the guitar...really! --Did Freddie ever...even once!...ever!...PLAY with a SLIDE?-- --Can someone look at this photo on this DVD and tell me I'm not nuts!-- If it HELPS any the photo must be from The Game Tour....Roger's drums have his FACE on them. --2nd question As I said I didn't buy this DVD. It says it's authorized by QPL. What is it of, what concerts? Here's the track listing.-- WWRY Let Me Entertain You Play The Game Somebody To Love Killer Queen I'm In Love With My Car Get Down Make Love Save Me Now I'm Here Dragon Attack Love Of My Life Under Pressure Keep Yourself Alive Drum Solo Guitar Solo Crazy Little Thing Called Love Jailhouse Rock BoRhap Tie Your Mother Down AOBTD Sheer Heart Attack WWRY (reprise) WATC God Save The Queen |

I own that DVD (as I'm sure many here do). I looked at the picture, and I kind of see what you mean, but it seems clear he doesn't have a slide in that picture. As a matter of fact, I just watched it two nights ago, and I can tell you for certain, he did not use a slide. It wouldn't make much sense anyway, because he couldn't very well play his rhythm guitar part in Crazy Little Thing Called Love (the only song he played guitar on) with a slide. |

Arlene- I own the dvd too... I don't see the slide in the photo...nor is there any reason for Fred to wear a slide... Brian plays slide on the second half of "Tie Your Mother down's" solo.... and thats the only slide part that sticks out. |

Maybe it's a dildo...Im sure he knew how to use one of those more then a slide =-) |

This DVD is not videos. Its the concert queen played at Montreal over 2 night in '81. This was the first concert video release on Queen. |

I have this on video, so it doesn't have the same picture. I've been aware also that the video version doesn't have Jailhouse Rock. While we're on the subject, does anyone know why? Is it because it's meant to be the definitive versions QUEEN, and not just one of their concerts? |

Brian uses a slide on "Tie Your Mother Down" and the out-ro of "Radio GaGa". I don't think i've ever seen Freddie use a slide, either that or he's got one outrageous ring! |
Scott_Mercury 17.04.2005 08:59 |
EVH- I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Brian is probably not playing 1984's "Ga Ga" on this Queen concert from 1981. |

Hey is this concert DVD good then? How's the sound and the performance? |

Arlene.. Here is the deal with this concert... Queen are on top of their game... "Let Me Entertain You" is awesome.... The medley that consisted of "Dragon Attack" is unreal... (this Dragon Attack, for you Freddie lovers, features Mercury slinking around Roger's drums very "FLAMEboyantly" wearing the quinisental white skin tight jeans, and shirtless hairy chest... ...he's almost like flirtatious with Roger during this extened jam....and Roger is just smiling back like some 19 yr old hottie babe was teasing him. ...This concert also may feature the best professionally filmed version of "I'm in love with my car".... Fred on piano and harmonies, keeps looking back at Roger like..."whoa, where the hell did that voice come from". HOWEVER... This was filmed in Canada...maybe a French speaking part?? The crowd all look like a dog watching a card trick... they looked confused... no one is singing along... some people are sitting. Its like 70% had never heard of Queen, or any song before. During "Jailhouse Rock"... the band is tight! Freddie is running all over like a madman, and he goes as far stage right as he can get.... and in the middle of singing says "C'mon, move it you fuckers". This is the same concert where at the end Freddie says "Ok, now lets go get fucked". Don't misunderstand me... the crowd knows they are hearing a badass band... they are just more apt to set back, and watch...this was not a partying crowd. I've heard live bootlegs of this...and you can hardly tell it was live....the crowd is that quiet. I'm guessing there is probably 40,000 people there at least??? Its weird.... this concert also has the huge "white light" that covers the audience alot...maybe they were hypnotized or something? |

link is the site to use in researching past releases A couple of notes on 'WWRY'...The Montreal Forum held around 20,000 for concerts. Secondly, this was Queen's second Montreal performance in 15 months. Other than UP, it's virtually the same song list as in 1980. AOBTD was old and stale, no longer worthy of being used as an encore (holds true for the '82 tour). So, I'm going to somewhat let the fans off the hook. And perhaps Q should have said something during the concert about the filming to get them off of their hands, eh? There's the typical camera editing mistakes one expects from people who know little about the band (zooming in on John after reappearing during BoRhap is an idiotic blunder), but the VHS was worth the purchase in the 80s, and the DVD (w/Jailhouse Rock) makes it even better. You take what you can get. |

It would be nice if the audience interacted and were enthused, but my preoccupation is with Queen and their performance and from what you said they sound AWESOME as always. I want to see this Dragon Attack performance that Freddie went wild on that you discussed...you know me..I'm sure I will LOVE it!!!!, (sounds like Roger got into it and loved it too, Chuckle!) :) |

Does anyone know why Flash's Theme & The Hero were not included on the DVD and why the middle of Brians solo is still missing ? |

As a Canadian, who is a huge Fan of queen, and buys anything (almost) that I can get my hands on, i was offended by the comment (fucking Canadians) its been said, but i would like to say it again it was in Montreal, the french part of the country, where maybe alot of them didnt know the words (and as stated they had been there recently)....but correct me if i'm wrong, are the french know to be overly bousterous people? I spent some time in quebec and Montreal, and all of the French people I know are pretty laiud back, and more into just wathcing a show another point, who buys a concert dvd/cd to see / hear the crowd? I didnt even really notice the lack of crowed enthusiasm, because i was too busy watching my fave band perform.. yeah they could have been more into it, but who the hell cares, it was a show, its a decent dvd. leave them alone....Just enjoy the show, and forget about the crowd, cause if its the audience you are wanting to watch, why not just go to a crowded beach?? |
