Ok...I am perplexed...For 3 decades now I have heard the infamous quote:
"We are the Cecil B. DeMille of rock, always doing things bigger and better!"
attributed sometimes to Roger, in TONS of press.
attributed sometimes to Freddie...including in TONS of press also...and on the United States Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website entry for Queen. link
"We're the Cecil B. DeMille of rock and roll, always wanting to do things bigger and better," said vocalist Freddie Mercury.
For Pete's sake...which one ACTUALLY said it?
(Did they BOTH say it?)
Can someone give me the CORRECT/FACTUAL answer..and who ever answers me does so AT THEIR OWN RISK, because I want to know YOUR SOURCE/VERIFIABLE, dang namitt!!!! Tarnation!!!!
Well, I am no better than you but in all my books it is written that Freddie said it. But I see Roger saying it. It looks a bit like the "Oscar Wilde meets Led Zeppelin" quote.
Anyway, I'd bet on Freddie as in none of my books, it is written that Roger said it. For me, books are better than the internet because rumours don't come and go as fast as in books. Of course, books with false facts exist too...Have you read "The Days Of Our Lives" book about Queen ? I didn't. I bet the answer's in it.
Dan.
