Setlist has not changed :-(... |
pirx 14.04.2005 17:12 |
I really do not understand why should they change it - it is a very good one as it is. |
FriedChicken 14.04.2005 17:16 |
ofcourse they don't change the setlist. You really think they have had ANY time since march 28 to rehearse new songs? |
Scirocco1977 14.04.2005 17:16 |
Well, they actually said they will do it... |
Scirocco1977 14.04.2005 18:24 |
then stop playing new songs during soundcheck... |

Brian played a snippet of White Man before Fat Bottomed Girls. The show was fantastic, really great! |

Joma wrote: Brian played a snippet of White Man before Fat Bottomed Girls. The show was fantastic, really great!Nice! Maybe that's a hint of what's to come. I've said from the start that White Man is a song that would suit Paul's voice perfectly. I hope they play it! Songs that cater to Paul's strengths like White Man would go that much further toward's the hardcore fan's acceptance of him. White Man would blow people away. |

Brian has played a snippet of White Man before FBG since Brixton. The official download (from Paris, if I remember correclty) has it as well. I would love to hear the whole White Man live, but I don't think it is going to happen. |
Scirocco1977 15.04.2005 05:17 |
It'S just a little fooling around with the guitar... exactly like the LIAR chords before Tear it up during the Magic tour (I suppose anyway) |
Mr. Scully 15.04.2005 07:08 |
Yes, Brian always plays part of White Man before Fat Bottomed Girls. Just like on his AW tour. In Munich they rehearsed only very briefly and they still played Another One Bites The Dust on the soundcheck! So don't tell me they don't remember old songs or that they don't have time to rehearse them. |
zaiga 15.04.2005 07:54 |
They probably have good reasons not to mess around with the setlist too much. I can imagine that they are just wanted to get comfortable with the current setlist before adding other songs. Paul's throat infection probably has something to do with it as well. I don't think there's anything wrong with the current setlist, and I'm looking forward to hearing the songs in Antwerp, but, you know, a little surprise here and there would be nice. Like the people at Pesaro got a little piece of Long Away, it does make you feel special if you were there. |

I went early to the venue to get the first row and I was able to listen to the sound check as thanks to the way the Olympiahalle is designed it is very easy to hear from the outside. Anyway, they played a complete version of Another One Bites the Dust minus vocals (about 3 minutes very well reharsed and with a great and original guitar solo at the end) plus a minute of Dragon Attack, then usual guitar solo and Say its not true. So I am hopeful that we will get AOBTD at least in the open air leg, or maybe by the time they reach Britain. By the way, I love the setlist as it is now, it will be perfect if Feel Like Making Love is reintroduced. Just one month for Belfast ....... |

I was somehow annoyed by the sound, but I think you can't do much about it in Olympiahalle. It was not designed for concerts. I really liked PR singing Reaching Out (just before the wall of sound started to build up). RT obviously doesn't play the 16th notes on HiHat in "Radio Gaga" anymore. Here are some pictures: link |

I download some pics from the concert from link 1 think I noticed: roger replaced the print on his bassdrum for a better one! instead of a white background with Queen written in black on it, it's now black with new phoenix logo with Queen printed through it! ALSO: I downloaded already yesterday, only 1 day after the gig, the complete show in exellent quality!! |

"In Munich they rehearsed only very briefly and they still played Another One Bites The Dust on the soundcheck! So don't tell me they don't remember old songs or that they don't have time to rehearse them. " ' Brian and Roger played it in Queen Spike played it in Amsterdam and i think also with his band Jamie also played it in amsterdam and I think he's also in spikes band. Danny plays in the musical so he also knows how to play it. No need to rehearse, maybe they were just fooling around and played it during the soundcheck, that doesn't mean they have to play it in concerts. Queen also played Immigrant Song most times during soundchecks in the early days. But they also didn't play it |

As I haven't been online for the last few days, I write now some impressions about last week. Within four days I saw Queen three times. Basel/Vienna/Munich. Vienna was IMO the best show. Brian's Blue Danube-rendition was really a nice surprise, as this song is Austria's inofficial anthem. I didn't now they would play the full version of I Want It All, as in Basel after verse two the amps had gone. Paul and Roger tried to keep the song going and when the amps went on again, they quickly played the final accords to bring the number to its end. In Vienna I was really impressed by this song - which I don't like that much - it's a real rocker and certainly one of the highlights. After three concerts I must say: Paul is absolutely great. To all sceptics out there who haven't seen him yet: Paul delivers the songs with much power and emotions. His bluesy interpretations are consistently worth listening and he has as singer nothing to do with Freddie - he doesn't dress, move, sing, like Freddie and he knows very well that this is a Queen-show. He is a great supporter and doesn't pretend to be the centre part of the evening. Moreover he's very charismatic and likeable. The setlist: Bear in mind that 95 percent of the audience are people who like Queen-music or who are just interested in seeing a Queen-show maybe for the first time. These people are into the Greatest Hits-catalogue at best, but not more. It would be false and probably fatal for Queen to play songs like White Man or The Hitman, cause nobody knows these songs. When Brian plays Last Horizon, there's barely any reaction althought it's a nice surprise for us fans to play a song from Brian's solo-catalogue. Compare it with Live At Wembley: When they start In The Lap Of The Gods, the reactions are quite decent, whereas when Freddie intonates A Kind Of Magic, there's a big roar. So they have to play mainly the big hits, cause in this dimensions with attendances of 10000 and more, this cannot be a fan-event. And moreover: No one would have expected to see Queen live again on stage. Now some "fans" complain inter alia about the setlist. That's not only ungratful, it's somehow unfair. Finally some Munich-details for all you freaks out there: - Roger changed his bass-drum-skin - Roger lost during his drum-solo one stick (!!) - I saw it very clearly - but he managed to grab it quickly, so you could not hear the slightest mistake - Brian seems to have problems with Love Of My Life. In Basel, Vienna and Munich he made the same mistake during the instrumental part. Exceptional for Dr. Brian ... - During Bohemian Rhapsody (rock part) Paul was for one second out of text - a quick look at the monitor and he continued with great routine - During Bohemian Rhapsody the Freddie-video was totally out of sync. Freddie's voice was ok, but the picture was for maybe 1,5 seconds delayed. - Brian threw a drum-stick in the middle of the show in the audience, so did Roger at the end of the show (during God Save The Queen they came for the first time all back on the catwalk to take their bows) - Both times the stick flew maybe a half metre beside me and I didn't manage to grab one. grrrrrrrrrr I feel very thankful to see this resurrection. All of you who can't wait anymore to see them: Look foward to it! One more: Budapest! Thanks and cheers! |
