I was recently complaining about the fact that Queen+PR aren't touring Australia.
Well the next best thing has happened...
There is a queen tribute band doing a show in sydney. This tribute band is highly acclaimed and sound close to the real thing.
expenxive tickets though. for me it's about $60. damn. looks like i is gonna do some serious begging from my mum.
This is too good!
I think I saw them a couple of years ago when they came to NZ...they were reasonably good but if it's the same one they only went to any kind of trouble with Freddie and Brian - their John in particular looked like a bouncer and had a long greying ponytail. And "Brian" mistook my Night at the Opera t-shirt for an A Day at the Races one. Still, it was a bit of fun and they did sound good.
They deliver a solid show. I'm going to see them again next month. They do a great job of getting the crowd involved, and the crowd I was in enjoyed every minute of it.
I saw these guys, and they were pretty good - the Freddie was outstanding. The guitarist was nothing like Brian May, though.
However, if I'm not mistaken, a fellow named Luke will be playing with the band in Australia... he's much more Brian-like.
Gary Mullen and his band are also great, but they seem to be more European based. link
They play mostly Magic Tour material, but did DSMN, too. I just think their drumset (snare+toms) sound strange.
Lights were quite realistic when they performed in a theater in Munich for 3 weeks.
