I LOVE Queen's helicopter from the Magic Tour! It has some of the artwork from the "AKOM" album on it and is so cool!!!! When you see it in video footage and photos, flying over the stadium crowds, it sort of defines and helps create the electricity of Queen and that final tour.
Does anyone know WHO did the artwork on and for that helicopter?
What happened to that helicopter?
(seriously..if I was rich, and no I am NOT kidding)..that is one very special piece of memorabilia I DO want). Some people buy celebrities cars or boats...why not a chopper! I LOVE that thing. Brings up wonderful memories.
the helicopter was hired i'm not sure but i think it was noel edmonds company but i could be wrong lol i dnt know who did the graphics? but yea i agree it looks amazing passing over the crowd:)

Thanks...I have no idea how you trackked down this info..all aviation and licensing stuff. Cool. Shame they painted over the artwork from Queen and AKOM though, but I guess that was only for when Queen rented it out for the tour.
Like I said, had I been rich, back then, I would have bought it..with the artwork. Great and memorable piece of history!
Here's the Official Info. off Queen's Hollywood Records Website Biography!
"On August 9th, the band flew into Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire, in a specially repainted helicopter featuring the characters from the Kind of Magic album cover."
"It was the final date on the Magic Tour, and the biggest audience so far - estimated at well over 120,000 people. It caused one of the biggest traffic jams in history as everyone tried to arrive in plenty of time! Over ONE MILLION people saw Queen on that European Magic Tour - in excess of 400,000 in the UK alone."
I remember it so well. We dumped the car five miles away and walked to the gig.
My first memory of the sound was when they played Dire Straits Money For Nothing through the system and the ground shook.
My Lady went to the loo just before Queen came on and I didn't see her for five hours.
Oh Happy Days !!!

YOU went to Knebworth!!!! Lucky....If I had been with you...I Most definitely would NOT have disappeared for 5 hours. If I hade gone, I wish I could have been there before the crowsds arrived, and seen Queen arrive in their special helicopter and land!
In the video for TSMGO...they use a clip of this helicopter AT Knebworth...because like I said..it defined Queen in all of their Glory and majesty and the excitement of the Magic Tour! Makes me so excited and happy when I see this chopper! Happier days eh!!!!

The helicopter flew over the crowd and circled a few times when Queen arrived. We all knew who was onboard

I bet the 120,000 people cheered BIG time when they saw Queen in their chopper flying above. Oh I'm getting chills thinking about it!!!!!
If read that it was 120,000 people at Knebworth, and ive always read that it was 125,000, nd ive also read it was 200,000 people AND ive also read it was near 300,000 people. Does anyone know the actual number of the pople there? Ive always wanted to kow the actual number. It seems like about 200,000 to me from the small clip you see in the TSMGO video
I'll say for Knebworth there was not under 140,000 ppl, I have some pictures that I traded for a long time ago, just from the vastness, you could say around 180,000
Actually I was looking at the download photo of the chopper prior to the artwork...and I think you are right. Queen either added detailing or decals to the chopper. I also read the name of the artist who did the artwork on the Live At Wembley Stadium CD Liner notes, the cartoon illustrations...probably the same person I would think.
But geez...to own that chopper...with the original decals and all. That thing would sit in my own hanger and I'd stare at it with awe. Like I said some people buy celebrities and rock stars cars...I want that chopper..it just brings up wonderful...irreplacable memories.
