HI the dedicated to..... is the management before who basically did queen out of a lot of money in the early days, freddie was having his revenge in the best way possible if i'm right and other queenzoners will correct me it's dedicated to jack nelson? or maybe the sheffield brothers?.
Brenda is correct! The song was written about the Sheffield brothers. In fact, when they found out what and who the song was about they sued Queen. But from what I know of the story it was settled out of court. If you listen to some of the Jazz tour bootlegs, Freddie often describes Norman Sheffield as a "real mother fucker of a person." But never mentions him by name.

That's right. Freddie was so infuriated with Norman Sheffield that in a interviews I have read..with Freddie and with others, Freddie's throat was literally bleeding when he sang the song in the recording studio, because his voice was full of such anger and venom at Sheffield for screwing Queen so bad. I had heard that Sheffield threatened to sue, but did NOT follow through, if Freddie and the band would make sure people "Knew" the song "really" wasn't about Norman. So Queen sort of had to "pretend" and not name names. I read one interview where Freddie said he originally sung the lyrics you suck my *bleep* instead of blood, then he changed it to blood.
If you have the Q/Mojo Queen Magazine out now, I read an interview with Freddie about this, and another interview or article by someone else as well that elaborates on this.

It seems that Freddie suffered so much in the making of Death On Two Legs. I've read that not only was his throat bleeding while he sang, he also had his earphones so loud, in order to achieve the perfect notes, that his ears started to bleed.
Well, atleast it produced a most brilliant savage song, the effect he wanted!
I'm sure if Freddie's throat or ears started to bleed, the album never would've been completed as he would've been in the hospital for quite some time.
1: FAQ = Do some HOMEWORK.
2: Dust Biter: "...he also had his earphones so loud, in order to achieve the perfect notes, that his ears started to bleed."
Such claims are urban myths. The only thing that could make ears bleed like that would be very sharp knitting needles - all one would hear is a very painful pop - then nothing - ever!
So why did Freddie actually tell people that his throat and ears bled...which Freddie DID do in interviews.
...Knowing Freddie..I would think Freddie said that for "dramatic affect". No I am not kidding. Maybe if Freddie was "embellishing" and "coloring" the facts, it was to drive his point home to Sheffield and to everyone about how much he detested Sheffield, it was a way to show Sheffield how much bitterness, he (Freddie) was feeling when recording the song...and how much he hated Sheffield.
Mr. Stewart is correct!!! If Freddie DID tell people his voice bled during those sessions it most certainly had to be an exagerration. Like John Stuart said, urban myths.

As I said above...knowing Freddie, who actually DID say in interviews that both his throat and his ears bled...again as I was saying...Freddie obviously "embellished" the truth because of his anger & hatred for how badly Sheffield had treated Queen.
But I also read, that Freddie was a person who did not easily let off the hook, people who had done him wrong. That he would take people who had burned him and Queen very personally to heart, and could hold a grudge (which I think is fine if the person in question is a dirtbag like Sheffield), who from what I understand, even when Sheffield let Queen out of their contract, he still made Queen as part of the break in their contract...responsible for STILL giving a certain amount of Queen's record royalties, AFTER their break with Sheffield..to Sheffield and Trident),
So Queen were still partially financially and legally leashed to Sheffield even AFTER Queen was released from their contract.
Can you imagine, having to STILL pay your former company...when you are no longer with them..and the whole reason you left, is BECAUSE they ripped you off in the first place.
Yeah...I am not surprised at all that Freddie held such hatred for Sheffield. Queen must have felt Sheffield was nothing more than a slavemaster, still reaping profits off of them.
mmm, yeh as said above. The reason they merely put 'dedicated to...' was to avoid any name mentioning which could probably have got them into further predicaments... and of course it adds that mysteriousness which is obviously still effective today as we are all pondering upon it :P exactly what they wanted i bet hehe
