Guys, then my idea/wish that they could tour without any outsider was not too crazy after all, since everyone seems pleased it was basically a Queen only show and it worked out great!! I would have gone to the gigs if it had been only them. I'm sorry for Paul though. Hope it's nothing serious.... Fairy |
RMT 08.04.2005 05:08 |
According to another source BHM and RMT duetted on TATDOOL as well! What a show, but a bit of a surprise they didn't do NOBY? No offence to Paul, but if he has a bad throat more often I won't complain! |

RMT wrote: No offence to Paul, but if he has a bad throat more often I won't complain!Indeed. Paul's got a good voice but I wish he'd sing in time occassionally. He's all over the bloody place! |

Sounds great. Here's hoping Rodgers' sore throat flares up before Manchester... |
The Stealer 08.04.2005 06:43 |
Gosh what aweful thinking. If Brian and Roger did sing more they would probably have the same voice problems as Paul and the whole show would not sound as good. Listening to the LOML Rome Download Brian's voice (I have heard him live several times)seemed a bit stressed. The set list change is welcomed but not at the expense of the good health of PR, RMT and BHM. In any event, Perhaps they will be more confident now in doing the rolling set list that roger hinted at weeks back. |

I really wish they would put Hammer to Fall on the QOL downloads... They'll probably just put another LOML, though..:-o |

Never had any objections to Paul joining the band, and still think he is a brilliant singer. At the gig I attended (Paris), I was impressed how he hit all the notes perfectly, also in his ‘a capella’ singing. That said, I often regretted it when Brian or Roger stopped singing to hand the microphone over to Paul. "Imperfect" as their own voices may be. That’s just my personal opinion and perhaps it’s just nostalgia. |
Scirocco1977 08.04.2005 09:24 |
Hmmm, I think "very different" setlist is not the right expression. They re-arranged the song order, put in 'Say it's not true' and left out one or two of Paul's songs... I still would NOT count this as a "rolling setlist" as promised by Roger in the mentioned interview. |
Daburcor? 08.04.2005 09:33 |
I'm VERY jappy they did Say It's Not True. I Really do love that song. |

Bought the 46664 Album Long Walk to Freedom and was a little disappointed that Say It's not true is not featured on this one... |

Har har, Scirocco. Of COURSE I mean Japanese! ;) |

I think it’s not so much Paul’s adding “spaces” or ornaments to the melodies, but more the somewhat darker color of his voice we are not used to. And yes, his rather turgid interpretation. This, in combination with the "wall of sound" of the band (two guitars -- where’s the good old acoustic piano, by the way?), makes the music sound less refined, sometimes. But Brian and Roger were always into heavy rock, I guess, so perhaps this is just the way they like it. And many others like it too, obviously! |

you're telling me. There's no Miracle material, barely any Innuendo, and they took out Feel Like Makin' Love. They're just making things worse than they already may be. I'm not sure how bad it is or how bad it will get, but this isn't going in the right direction. I prefer tracks from The Miracle and Innuendo, because they couldn't perform them back in 89 or 91 because of Freddie's health, but now you can. Best of all, it can be the best tribute to Freddie if they sang songs like Was It All Worth It, Hang On In There, or Bijou. Imagine hearing those now. Yeah, it's good isn't it? |

PLLLLLLLLEASE stop saying silly considerations about the setlist. it's amazing, it rocks the audience every time and i have seen many people crying for the strong emotions in certain moments. Paul is not a bad singer, i like his voice and his NOT PRETENDING to be FREDDIE is completely playing in his favour. if someone wants to criticize brian voice should listen anymore lots of queen albms where he sings...and decide whetever keep them or make me a present - ok i'll pay shipping cost :P The truth is that this QUEEN TOUR is SUNG by FANS! fix it in your mind ;) |

How many more times can we enjoy hearing IWTBF, FBG, etc, before we go out of our minds? Paul isn't Freddie and I realise he isn't trying to be. This is a common comeback when people say they don't like Paul. I just don't think his interpretations are very good. He has a good voice technically but that's no good on its own. I've only heard LOML from this tour, and Brian's singing is awful. He can pull off a performance in the studio (I enjoy his songs) but on stage he's pretty poor (this is based on other live performances, too). To end on a positive note, I'll say again that Roger rocks! |
Knute 09.04.2005 19:47 |
What, would you rather have another 19 years of no setlists? I swear, Jesus Christ could return in a shaft of white light and people would criticize the clothes he was wearing. "I know it's the second coming and all, but OMG did you see those nasty shoes he had on!" |

Dear friends, set list modified or not, paul illness or not I WENT INTO A DREAM ! I write this topic right now 'cos I'm realizing tha in Florence I was there and there was QUEEN ! Two hours passed away in a moment, but that will break my life in two parts: Before april 7th and after that one. For us that were at the show the new of Paul illness was unknown and we'd supposed that all those pretty words about him could be a fable. After all the folks in Nelson Mandela Forum stole the voice to Paul; by the way Freddie wuold have been another story. Brian finded the way to appreciate us after '39 sayng "God Bless You" instead of "Pity me" Roger was evidently surprised by our way to follow the handclaps in Radio Ga Ga (in another song he lost one backet for a while.... !) My remember will be Brian at his top, Roger a little tyred and Paul like one of us. The show was "highlited" with the usual Queen trademark in Lighs (shifted "L"). I recorded some audios with poor results in the most "pumped" tracks, but with good soulds in the lighter ones. So look for us in the next. Bye guys Claudiox |

Claudio potresti mandarmi l'audio che hai di firenze? potremmo scambiare con qualche video e foto che ho!! fammi sapere!! ciao!! |

If only most people would even understand this concept, never mind bring it to fruition. But again, those are the words of Jesus that we've chosen to ignore. We've only focused on the egocentric words that bring us towards personal salvation, not small steps closer to worldwide justice and harmony. We're in a sad state. But back to the topic at hand... I'm glad to see the setlist is slowly changing a bit. I'm loving pretty much everything about this tour so far. |
Scirocco1977 13.04.2005 11:32 |
I am still saying that the setlist has hardly changed, and only because of Paul's poor voice problems! I do expect a little bit of variation tonight however! And even if they played the complete Wembley gig from 86, I am dead sure I would rock and roll on the 25th of April! |
Gezelle 13.04.2005 12:57 |
I would too! In fact, I'm gonna enjoy my first Queen show anyway, no matter what songs they play (or don't play)! Btw, nice signature! ;-) |
