I'm also a great Queen fan.
I had also my expectations.
It's wonderful Queen is touring again after so many years. Talking about the setlist I'm a little disappointed.
Why only their greatest hits. I can imagine there are songs which have to be sung.
But is it fair to the die hard queen fans?
I have read the setlist and there's not any song which has never been performed. All songs are performed before.
Please, give some songs a chance. Thinking about: Princes of the universe, Breakthru, Innuendo, Las palabras de amor, The miracle and so on.
What do you think?
The songs I mentioned above were also hits long time ago.
So if they perform these they don't play for die hard fans'.
They play for die hard fans if they play:
- Ogre battle
- All God's people
- The night comes down
- Was it all worth it
- and so on.....
On the contrary. Not all the songs they're performing are their greatest hits. While Paul Rodgers is using his greatest hits from Free & Bad Company, the setlist does not contain just the hits.
I'm In Love With My Car, '39, Last Horizon, songs like those are okay, and they fit well on the setlist. More RT songs would be good though IMO.
But the majority of tours by all groups is onl;y a greatest hits tour.
One reason for touring is to get more revenue from CDs, DVDS etc. If the band played obscure songs it would separate the crowd from fans and casual listeners and there would create such a big atmosphere.
