I'm also a great Queen fan.
I had also my expectations.
It's wonderful Queen is touring again after so many years. Talking about the setlist I'm a little disappointed.
Why only their greatest hits. I can imagine there are songs which have to be sung.
But is it fair to the die hard queen fans?
I have read the setlist and there's not any song which has never been performed. All songs are performed before.
Please, give some songs a chance. Thinking about: Princes of the universe, Breakthru, Innuendo, Las palabras de amor, The miracle and so on.
What do you think?
They played their hit songs. That is the most important standard to select songs that would be played on their concerts. They just played the songs that people like.
Breathru, Innuendo and Miracle are Greatest Hits, unless I got a different CD to everyone else on the planet. And since when were Tie Your Mother Down, ‘39, Love Of My Life, I’m In Love With My Car and Last Horizon Greatest Hits?

Ah but they are songs that haven't been done before live, unless you count Mr Plant's cat impression!
I agree, they should try doing things which haven't been done live before, or things from the early years. Love to see Roger drum 'Stone Cold Crazy' now, or even the fast version of 'We Will Rock You'
But to do songs that only the fan knows could spoil the atmosphere.....
And how would Queen / Paul Rodgers then be ableto get new fans to buy their back catalogue.

The majority of people going to see Queen wont be die hard Queen fans. The miracle wont work live IMO. Innuendo didn't. Las Palabras, don't think so. Princes, not good enough. Breakthru, LETS SEE IT!!
I think the tour will change eventually. And you Americans will definatly have a differant setlist I think. Besides. this will not be the last time they tour. Next tour will be a differant setlist. This is the first one, let them get used to it again.
Personally, as this will be the 1st time I get to see 'them' live, I'm happy they'll play the greatest hits - i've only just got into buying the studio albums so i'll know the hits best
"Queen" aren't a struggling, up & coming band - they are long established.... they have no reason to tour their greatest hits with a guest singer. They aren't trying to win over new fans - the manjority of tickets for the UK tour went to fan club & QOL members.... go figure! Maybe if they had given themselves ample time to rehearse we would have seen a better setlist - for a start, there is a more material that would be BETTER suited to Paul Rodgers vocals than A Kind Of Magic!

Tie Your Mother Down, '39, and I'm In Love With My Car got radio airplay in the US...Breakthru, The Miracle and Innuendo didn't (well maybe very rarely). And people in other countries obviously know Love Of My Life even though it wasn't a single, judging by the singalongs at concerts.
That's what is bad about the Greatest Hits albums: they're skewing the history of what were actually hits and what weren't based on whether songs were released as singles. You CAN have radio hits that aren't singles (most of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd's songs for example).

What the fuck are you talking about? Most tickets for the U.K tour did not go to fan club members. The majority of people going to these concerts are fans of Queen, but not like us. We love Queen. They think Queen are quite good. My sister's favourite band is Queen. But she isnt into all this internet message board shit. She would have gone to see Queen had the Manchester show not sold out. She is never a die hard Queen fan though. She owns Greatest Hits I and II and The Works album. Thats it. These people will be the majority of people that are going. Especially to the open air shows.
What the fuck am I on about? What the fuck are YOU on about? Most of the tickets were snapped up in the pre-sale. Anyone that is willing to pay £55 for a ticket for a band they don't actually know is pretty stupid and a band that caters for its fairweather fans is pretty stupid too.
