I own a Burns Signature but I always wanted a second Brian May Replica from another brand--- Which one do you prefer? I love the Burns sound, but I want to have a second one!
Thx ;-)
Guild are now getting to be collectors items, keep looking on e-bay is the only advice I can give. Guyton are probably the best you can get at the moment. There are also the new copies (Burns no longer make them) being made with Brians input ...
Break,
have a look at: link

and you will have a nice surprise
1984 Guild Brian May Signature Red, exc, Original Hard, $2,495.00
Have a look, it's a beauty
I read in Guitar Buyer Brian wasn't completely happy with the Guild design, plus they reissued it later after the initial run in some seriously odd pickup configurations quite different from Brian's original three single coil arrangement. Look before you leap.
Steve,
Later the Guilds have the knife edge
First run's have the Floyd.
In 1984, everything that was selling had a Floyd, and a Floyd was much easier then recreating Brians tremelo.
The 84s are awesome guitars. To this date they are the preferred "backup" to the actual Red Special... Brian's been having his rare sunburst 84' as a backup since I last worked for him in October 2002... he bought it for $3500 from a collector out in Los Angeles about a year prior using it in Lynn Sailor's single where he did all the guitar work back then. Sounded awesome, of course! Oh! And the trem on the 84s are Kahler's not Floyds... big difference. Feel free to write me anytime.. I have over 20 Guild Red Specials that I love dearly... all the best! Michael J. Kramer 2o3.375.33o6 home/cell MJKAudioVisuals@optonline.net
You can choose from several Red Special guitars… check the web for RS Guitars, Fryer, KZ, Guyton, Dillion or Star.
Ebay does offer a Guild, from time to time, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open.
The main difference between a ’84 Guild and a ’93 Guild is the lack of sound chambers in the ’84 version and the tremolo.
As stated above, there are some different versions available with different pick-up configurations and with stop-tail bridges, so you’ll have to watch out… check the Red Special forum (link for the different Red Specials.
