It appears that releasing a three c.d. compilation set called "The Platinum Collection" is being copied by other artists after Queen did there own as well. Genesis are releasing or have released one in Europe (I don't think the U.S. and I don't know if it will get released here or not) and now it say on link that David Bowie is doing one as well. I do admit I like all of them by all of these artists though! I will be ready for Queen to delete there's though as I think a better more appropriate could be done in the years ahead...
yep just read this myself:
"'Under Pressure' is to feature as track 1 on CD3 of the David Bowie 'Platinum Collection'.
The 59-track set is scheduled for a July release. The set will contain previously released compilations 'The Best Of David Bowie 1969/1974' and 'The Best Of David Bowie 1974/1979' as disc's one and two and then a newly compiled third disc of 'The Best Of David Bowie 1980/1987'. 'Under Pressure' will appear on the new disc alongside other Bowie classics such as 'Let's Dance', 'Ashes To Ashes', 'China Girl', 'Fashion' and 'Scary Monsters'."
Seeing as how I've already ot the second disc and the bulk of the tracks from the 1969/1974 album, I hope that the 3rd disc will be done separately !
That is interesting (about other artists releasing the Platinum Collection). I have the Queen one. How do we know, though, that these artists haven't been working on these things for a while now? Then again, they are coming out just NOW, right? Queen's came out when... sometime last year? I got it for Christmas of last year, so it must have been before November or December.
Just read that they are releasing a comprehensive collection of Billy Holiday's remastered works tomorrow, and they had the decency to call it something similar...but still different...
"The Ultimate Collection".

The original releasedate was September 18th 2001. So it's out a couple of years now. I can't care if other bands use "The Platinum Collection", if they want, well then just do.
I don't own Queen's version (have all the GH Albums as stand alone version, but I do own Genesis' Platinum Collection, which is really amazing IMO, especially disc 3.
TPC woz first released in 2000, at least my copy is from 2000 when it first came out and i bought it in 2001 :)

Yes, but I was not so much in talking about the titles as the idea of doing a three c.d. compilation set! Holy smokes that is a large set for not being a box set! There are few artists that I know that have done three c.d. sets that were not boxed sets.
Great then say who they are. Oh and by the way I guess I was not very direct when explaining myself in that in particular I really was refering to big selling rock acts from the past forty years or so of which I noticed no one is on from your list which backs up what all I have said earlier.
