I became a huge fan of Queen 5 years ago when i watched the wembley 86 concert in tv and from that day i bought every album of them and i think i listen every song of them(rares,demos)..There are so much hits that well-known like Bohemian R. TSMG, WWRY,WATC etc..My friends all bored Queen songs because of me!!.i listen them everyday..but one thing i realize that none of them didnt bored from You Dont Fool Me.. All of them listens different style of music like RnB,pop,hip-hop but all like You Don't Fool Me and they tell me everytime that YDFM is the most listenable and one of the best songs of Queen .. What do you think?Which song you think that the most listenable? by the way is YDFM on the setlist? |
Ozzy Queen 01.04.2005 20:56 |
I think YDFM is a great song. It is quite listenable but i wouldn't say the most listenable. Here's a few which i think are very listenable: -Las Palabras de amor -let me live -spread your wings -Good Old-fashioned L.B. -Nervermore -March of the B.Q. -Play the game As i said these are just a few |
dontrysuicide 01.04.2005 21:17 |
Of course these are listenable as well but these songs is too Queen..we are queen fan and generally we like most songs of them so they look like listenable for us but for someone who listens different style its different they can get bored from such amazing songs like MOTBQ,spread your wings also TSMGO and I want it all...I think YDFM sounds a little more pop and has a great melody that takes you away....NA NANANANA!!!! Who wrote its lyrics??and music??? |

I'm not sure if You Don't Fool Me is one of their best songs (the guitar solo is amazing, though!) but I agree that it is more listenable than others. It's so catchy and it's got a great beat. I think a lot of us fans overlook it, but I can definitely see it being an accessible song to newer fans. |

A fantastic song with a catchy NA NA NA NA NA section that you just can't get out of your head and a fantastic solo from brian one of their best in my opinion. |
TheProphet 02.04.2005 05:06 |
I dont like the song. I´ts too poppy for me. |
mike hunt 02.04.2005 14:56 |
i agree, YDFM is a solid song, not their best by any means. the guitar solo really makes that song work and roger's drums are solid. i think 'made in heaven' as a whole is underated. a very consistent album. |

It sounds listenable to me (as well as other tracks actually) and the guitar solo is one of the best ever played by Brian, IMO. All songs from GH1&2 are listenable for non-Queen fans I think. |
Daburcor? 02.04.2005 17:53 |
"You Don't Fool Me" is pretty high up on my list. |

Yep, I like it... alot! |
nasty_queenie 03.04.2005 00:32 |
Really really don't like it. Too repetitive. |
djaef 03.04.2005 01:14 |
It always sounded like a reworked track from Mr Bad Guy to me.... But it does have an awesome solo, and is very listenable, just not my favourite Queen track. |

I like the track, but I also think that it has Brian's best guitar solo ever. Absolutley amazing. |
dontrysuicide 03.04.2005 10:00 |
anyone knows who wrote the lyrics?..YDFM was a demo from 80's period..who finished the whole song?!i read somewhere that roger taylor worked so much on this song is it right?? |

YDFM is one of my favourites from MIH. Very underrated song. My friends who aren't Queen fans just love it. And Brian's solo... Amazing! |

Yes, I also wonder how people who don't listen Queen like that song and why is it like that? Don't know how to explain that phenomen.I also have one example of that situation. |

i doubt it. I mean now you mention it, I notice the similarity, but im sure neither party thought about it. if you want similarity...listen to "crazy nights" by KISS,then "i believe in a thing called love" by the darkness, those are so damned similar...wouldnt surprise me if the darkness ripped them off |
KingMercury 03.04.2005 14:03 |
i dont like it i dont know why, but IMO, it's the worst song from MIH it's just an opinion; surely there is people who like it so much but i dont like it; it doesnt sound like a queen song |

bigc wrote: i doubt it. I mean now you mention it, I notice the similarity, but im sure neither party thought about it.Well, but still... Weren't the early 80s also the time that Queen - or at least Freddie - was working with Michael Jackson? I still find the similarity striking. |

I think You Don't Fool Me originates from the MIH sessions, correct me if I'm wrong. Freddie's vocals are very 'of the period': quite low and croaky, a la IGSM and Ride the Wild Wind. YDFM is one of my favourite Queen tracks. The beat is infectous and Brian's solo is superb. |

It would surprise me if it were from the MIH sessions, but hey, I'm easily surprised. |

Edit: Too bad written YDFM (Originally written for the Hot Space album) is an ok song, but i'm sure the song could be better, cous the baseline is quite good. The version on the MIH album, is from the MIH sessions. Have there ever been any overview of which songs that comes directly from the MIH sessions? |
Tipsy Dino 05.04.2005 06:44 |
Here it is stated that the song would date from the "Hot Space" period: link |
GreatKingSam 05.04.2005 07:39 |
but the vocals for the final verison of YDFM are from the last sessions, there is no denying that |
dontrysuicide 05.04.2005 14:06 |
I read in the Greatest hits 3 catalog that the song was from 80',"hot space" period..may be its vocal part is from MIH period because it is quite like from this period.. Wonderful song!!have some anger(you dont have to teach me things i know!!) in it after the brian's solo part i like that part!... |
