can people please stop putting officially released
widely available stuff for download?
it's a breach of copyright, it's theft, and it will gte the site owners into all kinds of shit!
a simple rule of thumb - if you got it off a CD that has an official record company logo on the back then it's official - so don't put it on here
i think that if they got stuff from Kazza (or any peer-to-peer) then it's fairly safe to assume it was stolen from somewhere in the first place
so here's another thought: if you got it off a cd or downloaded it without paying for it, or if someone else sent you it on a "compilation cdrom" then don't share it

I guess that means that songs sampled from vinyl are fair game... ;)
Sure I would like to have the original records, but in some cases it just isn't reasonable. Personally I would draw the line on songs that are currently available on brand new cds all around the world.

Not really coz the tracks on it are still available on CD.
I have to agree with Brenski. The amount of idiots posting legally available stuff is getting beyond a joke now (the 46664 audio thread for instance). Its time these wasters were sorted out once and for all before this site starts getting hit with all sort of legal stuff.
I totally agree with you... but you know what the problem is.... All music (not just Queen) on official cd's is so fucking expensive!
For example, I would love to buy Roger's Happiness? but if I want to... I want to know what I'm buying... so first... I need to hear those songs...
And second... it's so expensive... and I have to order it in the shop first, before they even got it for me to listen to.... I would feel sorry for the salesman if I listened to a cd that he specially ordered for me... and then not like it.. and not buy it...
So... if I want to listen to the entire song first.... I'll have to download it somewhere... because you always get these small 10 second samples.... I can't judge a song after hearing 10 lousy seconds...
That's why I would download songs.... from limewire or something like that.... If I like those... I'll buy the cd.. but not before I've heard the entire album...
And to be honest with you... if I've downloaded the entire album for free... why would I buy it... and not burn it myself?
But for Queen cd's.... I just want to have the official cd, because I know I'll like it anyway.... so don't worry... ;)

I have delted all my links off the Backing Karaoke thread and am delteing those off 46664, iv have relised the inconveniance it makes with some of you and therefore dont want to make any more enemies. All material i post will be checked before postage to see if they are official or not.

but it's not about inconvenience - it's about theft
if someone took your work without paying for it you'd be (justifiably) upset - there's no difference here. but nonetheless - well done on removing those links
Hmmm I partly agree with the most of you. In some cases fof instance that Brian May track I don't want nobody teasin around with me, is officialy released in Japan, so I would have to buy an expesive import CD for the one and only track I wanted to have. I wanna testify is an official released track once so that one can't be shared also? I agree if it's about the normal CD tracks but rare or odd B sides or only released versions in Japan or so, well share it. Besides that don't you think that there is copyright at bootlegs, odd demo's and so on......???The ownership is still at Queen and not of the people who got there hands on it on purpose (wich is also theft) of by accident.
do some of you have bootlegs? did you money go to queen or to bootlegers? what's the difference between downloading and buying bootles? everyone have bootlegs!
yeah but they're on about where people have illegaly recieved items from people like i did, i'll admit that and shared them with others, without anyone payin a penny, so in a way it was stealing from Queen and the charities involved. so by other people downloading wot was up they therefore stole money away from the charities aswell. if u know wot i mean.
Enough already!
The way some of you guys talk, I'd swear you get a percentage of Queen's sales. Sure, we should buy the cd's, but that's all! Nobody here seems to care when officially released songs of Queen collaborating with other artists get posted. Those artists are losing money, too, and Jeffrey Osbourne and Holly Johnson need all the money they can get right now :-) All the bitching about Queen losing money on Jewels II because one track was posted here!?! Queen aren't losing money on that CD, they're stealing from us by making us buy tracks we've already paid for in the past. CD singles and compilations are nothing more than the record company trying to shaft us out of our money. Roger even said recently that Queen definately don't need the money (tour reference) so don't worry about it! Just buy the albums and nothing else because it's not worth it. The record company is laughing at us every time they release something with "1 NEW Exclusive Track". Save your money. Put it towards something you really need! If I make enemies off this response, I don't care. If it upsets you that much, you must work for the corporate record companies.
Besides, I can't see this site getting shut down because of it. Timelily's been posting for years and they're still going strong. Relax, everyone, and just enjoy the music :-)
Bootlegs and pirate copies are different things.
Buy a bootleg, the band don't lose a sale.
Buy a pirate copy/download material without paying, the band lose sales.
ANd would any of you apologists like to explain to me the justification for a thread called "DOWNLOAD: Extra Magical Ingredients"?
Scumbags, leeches, tossers, the lot of you...
Buy a bootleg, the band don't lose a sale.
Buy a pirate copy/download material without paying, the band lose sales.
Or alternatively...
Buy a bootleg, and pay the thieves for stealing other people's material.
Download for free from the internet, and don't pay the thieves for something they don't own!
Personally, out of those two choices I think buying bootlegs is the worse option. :/
