I would recommend against seeing it. I'm a huge Queen fan (of course) and I love musicals, but I hated WWRY. It's badly written IMO, its music isn't memorable (yes, I know its Queen but unlike with 'Mamma Mia' where I loved the performances of the songs and remembered them long after, I didn't with WWY) and I went home feeling extremely disappointed. I in fact consider WWRY to be one of Queen's three biggest mistakes. A strong call, but I don't think it has helped Queen's post-Freddie reputation. Plus, I went with my partner, who's not a huge Queen fan anyway, and it deterred her from investigating Queen further after seeing the musical.
I traveled three hours to see the "Canadian version" of this stage play and it was well worth the trip. The music was incredible and the actors deserved their standing ovation.
I'm thinking a play that has been around since 2002 and still going speaks volumes!!
You be the judge...
A friend of mine and his girlfriend went to see the We Will Rock You musical in London last weekend.
He said they both enjoyed it very much - and they aren't especialy fond of Queen,,,
