link You can see it on QOL too. I think it's a good thing, now you can see this is not the same Queen as before, it's really another band. This will probably feature prominently on the merchandise I guess... |

its a whole new Queen as it were, the old Queen unforunatly died off in 1991, thats when the new Queen came into play, slowly building upto the tour we have coming up this year! Woo im stoked! |

Even if I Loved Paul Rodgers..or any singer, musician who joins Queen...they should leave the logo alone!!!! It's like when Coca Cola changed and "updated" things. Well it sucked. And they went back to good old classic Coca Cola. It's like a prestigious brand name & seal, you know. Some things are in fact, a classic. I have no problem that this is 2005, a New Millenium, what have you,...so get a new singer, whatever...but the Queen logo is a Signature of everything that Queen stands for, of pride, dignity, honor, regal splendor, old...and New. Don't mess with an Original, Classic. And why not change and update the Union Jack while you're at it (sarcasm!) It's oudated, a dinosaur. (extreme sarcasm) |

There WERE 2 Logos for Coca Cola too, Classic Coke, and "New" Coke, and that's only a stupid soda..and people were buying the wrong thing, getting confused, etc. What's going to happen here? They should keep the original crest..but put the WORDS Queen+PR next to it, or put the NEW crest next to it stating Tour 2005. When The Allman Brothers Band reunited in 1989, with alot of NEW members, in their case permanent, to replace Duane Allman & Berry Oakley, they KEPT the ORIGINAL logo, but for each year's tour, as the lineup has changed, repeatedly throught the years, they change the year and sometimes put a Separate Tour logo--Next To the Original Logo. I have most of the tour shirts and posters from 1989-present. I like that idea...Brian & Roger should put the Original Crest logo on everything...with something like a logo of 2005 Tour Queen+PR next to it. |

arlene wrote: Well, While I am intelligent enough to know there are 2 crests and that this is the one for the current tour...alot of people are going to be awfuly confused and think that this IS the Queen crest.Well, for one thing fans do know what the original crest of Queen is/was. For those who do not know they probably even don't care how the crest did look like and probably don't pay attention to those details. Remember that crest was a symbol of 4 Queen memebrs and their zodiac signs. So, changing it now from that point of view makes sense. The change was probably initiated by band members or someone from their marketing. |

There is a bird on top of that all - Phoenix. However, due to the meaning of the Phoenix itself you can't look at that as exclusive to the first logo. As FM said in one interview "I got my diploma from Baling College of Art, in graphics and illustration. You know, I designed the Queen crest. I simply combined all the creatures that represent our star signs-and I don't even believe in astrology.". To understand meaning of Phoenix one must know that this was designed before they did a first album. Idea was that 4 zodiac creatures around Q are now coming to get you with their music (as they all have been involved in music before Queen and this time they would arise - as Phoenix did). After that sign has been applied for ANATO and ADATR album sleeves. Phoenix in 2005 means come back of certain Queen members and their sound - it is symbolic figure as it was 34 years ago. |

Phoenix is a symbol and crest itself should really be seen without Phoenix. If you check all bio documents and interviews in the past you will get that picture without any problems. Just so you know here in Maryland a man designed a crest for The Baltimore Ravens Football Team when the team 1st came to Maryland and they were taking open solicitations for artwork for their crest. The artist/man submitted a raven with a football helmet. The Ravens management sent it back to him with a rejection letter stating they didn't like it and no thanks. Few months later, when The Ravens "Debuted" their logo that they said their own "In house artist" had designed, it looked suspiciously familiar. Now don't get me wrong. The raven is a common bird and so it would seem a common everyday idea. Well a court here didn't think so. The artist who had originally designed the crest that was "rejected" sued The Baltimore Ravens for plagerism and won a multi-million dollar lawsuit, plus copyright infringement. So, I hope if there are any lawyers in heaven, (oh yeah, I forgot all lawyers go to HELL!!!), acting on Freddie's behalf, that they send a spirit to haunt whoever designed the Queen+PR crest. |

Yes, when I listen to Original Queen music by the Original Band (which can be NEW mind you, just the Original members), as well as music by many of my other favorite music artists who still hold their name and legacy with pride and dignity, even if they move forward into the future. And going to fantastic concerts, watching great films, TV, reading great books, enjoying the great outdoors, sunshine, vacations, shall I go on. |

The only thing that matters is music. Queen is just a drop in the sea of the really good music. But it's huge drop. Crest? Who gives fuck? It's a fucking logo with bird which has crown (and it looks like Phoenix which is fine) and in front it says Queen+PR. It has nothing to do with old crest. I can understand there would be always people who will find something wrong with Queen+PR whatever they do. If they didn't change the logo someone would bitch about that. Now they changed it and someone won't like it. I believe we can talk if we like it or not (to me old one looks much better), but rationally there are no similarities between two. This is just a tour logo and nothing else. Tour logos changes from year to year. You are either too serious about this whole thing or playing fun with us :) Anyway, time to go to my bed. Good night. |

FairyKing 25.03.2005 04:31 |
first of all.... it's a lovely crest, but JUST a crest! are we going to the concerts to see a crest? do we buy records for the sleeve artwork or the cover design? do we buy books for their covers? come on guys, freddie did it - ok, it was brilliant and i love it. but HE DID IT FOR QUEEN, so brian and roger HAVE any right to keep it for the present tour, but they thought this tour meant something new and slight different so they decided to have a new one! This is not important, but it's a right decision to me. no plagiarism, freddie did it for queen... ...and there are 2 members of queen here. freddie surely didn't mind, maybe he'd just laugh on us..we're givin' it too much meaning. and freddie didn't invent the phoenix...i mean the idea, the concept. and just look the Marlboro logo: an oval in the centre...a crown on it and 2 animals on the left and right...does anything clicks? there are a lotta logos and crests like that and freddie was not that original, though he made what i consider the coolest, the best crest i ever saw. but it's just a crest.... |

"I never said I "speak to dead people..that would be the child actor Haley Osmet in the film "The Sixth Sense"! I meant that IF Freddie were here, he would say Bullocks." - So arlene, did you ever meet Freddie? Did you ever have a conversation with Freddie? Did you ever come within five feet of Freddie? No? So how is it you know how he would feel about this situation? Oh you really have absolutely no clue what he would think? Okay, gotcha. The crest is brand new. I doubt Freddie would have sued his friends/fellow band members for creating a crest that is, at best, similar to his design. As ever, some of you Queen fans *cough* arlene and sharon G. *cough* have nothing better to do but be negative about something that should be positive. I guess we don't like progression in the Queen world, cos a lot of you fans only want to stay in the past and to deem Queen "dead." Sorry, people, Queen is very much alive and no matter how much reminding that you do that Freddie and Queen are dead, Queen and Paul are going to carry on anyway. And Sharon G.: why are you accusing people of being ignorant for wanting to see Queen live? I should think you could come up with a better snide comment than that. But you know, everyone's retort back to you will be along these lines: I'm going to enjoy seeing Queen live and you are not, because Queen is dead. That's what you say anyway. |

I have the Queen Crest tattooed on my left arm, the color as in the small booklet that came with the Made in Heaven LP. Thats the original Queen crest, just because Brian and Roger are still calling themselves Queen doesnt mean that Im going to go get a tattoo of the new crest because with the phoenix or not on the new crest, the idea was freddie's. If he hadnt put the phoenix on the original crest, I dont think that the new "Queen + PR" crest would even have a phoenix to begin with. |

First of all, Freddie did not invent the Queen logo out of the blue, it's a parody of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom as you can see here link I never heard that the "other Queen" ever complained about plagiarism of her crest, it takes a couple of deranged "Queen fans" to get all wound up about alleged theft of Freddie's artistic property. |

whether it matters, but the man who won the lawsuit against the Baltimore Ravens in regards to the logo copyright, received no monetary damages, not millions as someone erroneously posted earlier. so much for research maybe Mahler said they did. The one thing that struck me about this redesigned tour logo at this late hour is the symbolic difference in size between the large word QUEEN and very small words 'Paul Rodgers.' Indicative of an emphatic power play won by our boys. Brian wanted the phoenix. Paul wanted a 'HUMMINGbird' because he can't remember the lyrics... |

Freddie's Queen logo makes me think Ferrari, the new logo seems Trans Am-ish. Which is not bad at all if you soup up the engine and give it a targa roof and take out the 8-track and put in a cd player. And spinner rims and custom leather interior, y'all know what I mean, just please pimp this ride Brian Roger Paul! |
Freddie-B 26.03.2005 09:59 |
I think it's good that they've changed it, because it shows that they're not kidding themselves into thinking they're Queen. After all, the original logo had symbols for all 4 members, and now two of them aren't there so of course it's not Queen and I think it's nice that they've kept the idea of the logo but changed it accordingly. I'm not really sure if I support the whole thing so far, but this is a good step to converting me! |
