Wat was his original dexterity? In olden days in boarding schools and such they discouraged using the left hand and switching to the right |

Most guys use the right anyway. |

Sorry, I don't know his original dexterity and so I think I can't reply properly, but look back upon his stages, Live Aid or MK concert and so on...especially the way he held mic stand. He used to hold it both in his right hand and in his left hand. As far as I know, in earlier '70s he usually held it in his right one and sometimes in his left one. But from late '70s, he held mic stand in his left hand much more often than he did in earlier days and he posed in various ways with his right one. |
Harpo_the_taylorette 23.03.2005 12:54 |
I've seen pictures of him from the 70s writing with his right hand... And from the 80s. |
vanush 23.03.2005 15:39 |
Left handers have a tendency to be more artistic and visual, with hints of genius, and be more prone to turn out gay. That's just Freddie Mercury. |

Musician's Institute of California estimate that 82% of musicians that are left handed, play their instrument right handed. So that theory above stated was said by a non-musician. My father, best friend, and cousin...all lefties, that play guitar right. I'm right , play right. While its true, on average.....left handed people are 27% are more likely to be homosexual....left handed people on average also die an average of 11 years earlier than righties. You have a 11% greater chance of having AIDS if you are male, if you are left handed. So those stats posted above are confirmed. All this info is aval. on the web. |
Scott_Mercury 06.04.2005 09:23 |
While the percentage of left hand geniues per population is higher in left handed people. It is still estimated that the number of right handed geniues to left handed is still 7 to 1. Simply because there is more right handed people is this reason. |

If considering Freddeie's cultural background, even if he was innately left handed, parents tried to encourage him to use right. ( you see left hands are usually used at toilet in that region :) In my opinion he was more likely a left hander but was trained to use both. |

I love to see him hold his mic stand in his left hand with champagne glass in his right hand while he is telling cheers to the audience, or with tambourine in his right hand when he is singing "Keep Yourself Alive" and "Liar"! :D |

vanush wrote: Wat was his original dexterity? In olden days in boarding schools and such they discouraged using the left hand and switching to the rightFreddie Mercury started out left handed. But since it is taboo in India to be left handed....stupid parents try to make their kids learn to use their right hand. Such a thing happened to poor left handed Freddie Mercury. The poor guy naturally gravitated toward the "left" in everything. HAH!! :D I don't know I just associate creativity and "genius" to left handedness. My cousin is left handed. He's also a genius, and an artist. Most left handed people are WEIRD. Not all of them, but most. They don't fit in with the average crowd. So was Freddie. |

im ambedextrous. its actually tougher to handle things, cuz some days i cant figure out which is more comfortable. my left hand will try to do what the right hand does, and vice versa. i play guitars right handed, but paint with my left, write with both, and when i was little it was discouraged to use your left hand. i dont know why either. people are prejudice against the lefties! XD some of it has to do with how you are taught. if i were taught guitar with my left hand i wouldnt have known better. i dont know what that says about me being a 'genius' or whatever, but amby people are more of a minority than lefties. anyway, as for freddie, i woudlnt be shocked if he was actually amby too. it explains his piano precision. im curious to know if he had a level of dyslexia? |

If you look at the 1970's pics with the long hair and black fingernails, the hand with the painted nails is his left, maybe he was right handed and the 'Mercury and Me' pics one his was in a restaurant, his fork was in his, I think left hand, but when you see video and pics of him writing he's right handed. Ambidextrous? Maybe. |
Stoner 18.12.2007 05:29 |

Right hand |
Stoner 18.12.2007 23:17 |
Ok whatever. Since he was originally left handed but when he was forced to write with his right hand as a kid, you naturally write better with your right hand. If you practice enough writing with your right hand you will get better at it. If you get your right hand cut off or permanently injured, which hand do you have to write with? Yes it has been proven over and over that people who must switch handedness suddenly for whatever reason eventually learn to use that hand just as well as the other one. Remember handedness is just a preference it's not concrete. And it doesn't screw your brain up as has been suggested. |

If you go and find the picture of Freddie autographing the stripper's ass in the late 70's you'll see he's writing with his right hand - personally, if I was already a millionaire international rock superstar, I'd have shed my boarding school habits by that point and be writing with whatever hand I felt natural. Therefore, I believe he was certainly right-handed. |
Stoner 23.12.2007 03:35 |
Im right handed, but I cannot use my PC mouse with my right hand. The reason is because my dad taught me to use it left handed since I was small because HE is lefthanded so I always just grabbed the mouse with my left hand. Now, if I try to use a mouse with my right hand, it's impossible because I'm not used to it, lol. |
