For those of you fortunate enough NOT to receive ITV, believe me you are missing NOTHING. They are soon to air 'Queen Mania' which they've done before with Abba and Grease. It is cringeworthy to the extreme on the UK's most cheesiest, cheapskate TV channels ever. If anyone ever tells you that the UK do the best TV in the world..DON'T BELIEVE EM, it aint true (maybe 20 years ago it was!) It'll consist of soap stars and B list celebs doing covers of Queen songs in fancy dress prancing around a TV studio, 'performing' to the lyrics literally like Pans People dancers used to do on TOTP in the 70s! PLEASE...NON UK fans DO NOT ask for copies of this to be uploaded or put on DVD. I can tell you now even before it's been aired it WILL be bad, VERY BAD and cringey. I'm just surprised that Queen gave them their permission. I suppose it's all publicity for their tour. It's typical of such a cowboy oufit like ITV to put out something naf like this when over recent years the BBC and channel 4 have done some real good quality Queen docs. |

so if you don't like it, don't watch it. i think it'll be a lot of fun - i'm not going to watch it to see Queen songs performed to perfection, but as a medium for getting the music 'out there' to the masses, this is a great idea. |

According to Brian's site: QUEEN MANIA ITV1 on 9 April 2005 9.15pm - 10.15pm. |

Weren't we all offered tickets for this? |
Queen05 22.03.2005 15:10 |
I'll watch it just to c if they're more awful at singing queen songs than me! |

A quick Reminder. Its on tonight 9.10 pm repeated tomorrow night on ITV 2 as well as a documentary called "Queen Mania: The Show must go on" which promises to show archive footage (which we've seen a zillion times before!) |

ITV a cowboy outfit? hahaha! Nice one mate. |
Russian Headlong 09.04.2005 16:56 |
The show is fucking awful, especially that Toyah Wilcox, the worst cover ever! Lesley Garett has amazing tits though. |
slightly mad 22 09.04.2005 17:14 |
against my better judgement i watched it!!! yes i was disappointed only the chick from m-people(though she bottled trying the big note)and myleen(however you spell it) was any good and that was only cos she was the only artist who actually played an instrument and changed the song to suit her(a wise move) |

Queen Mania: Unreleased, ITV, Queen Mania ITV 9 April 2005, Queen Tribute show introduced by Zoe Ball. One Vision (Mel C), Barcelona (Leslie Garret & G4), I Want To Break Free (Corrie Queens), Somebody To Love (Heather Small), Don’t Stop Me Now (Toya Wilcox), Too Much Love Will Kill You (Myleene Klass), Who Wants To Live Forever (Russell Watson), You’re My Best Friend (Tony Christie), Bohemian Rhapsody (G4) So who was the best (of a bad bunch) version? Poor Freddie is now facing Australia! As for the New CD "Now That's What I Call Underwhelming!" Edited: Corrected version |

Just as I envisaged.... ABSOLUTLEY AWFUL. Both progs were quite simply the WORST 'Queen TV Progs' you ever likely to see. All non UK Queen fans...You don't know how lucky you are NOT to receive such CRAP on yours TV on a Sat night. DON'T even think about asking for a copy on DVD or on The Hub, it should be banned from the TV and NET forever. QP will do anything for a bit of publicity for the tour. If Cornation St wasn't so popular I'm sure ITV would have their Brodcast license revoked. They must be the worst TV station on the planet churning out endless, cheap, 'throwaway' TV. |

Well for me it was Myleene Klass. |

Surely it's "Don't Thtop Me Now"? "...I'm a thex mathine, ready to ekthplode, like a thuperthtar..." good choice... |

I'm with ya, Kevo: ITV is the absolute pits. |
John S Stuart 09.04.2005 18:03 |
Sixpence: Yes, you are correct - it was "One Vision", my mistake sorry. I've edited accordingly. I also noticed that I couldn't spell Milene either! By the way 6P - I knew your father - 6D. He was once a friend of mine! |

She alwayth chootheth thongs that have thix or theven ethith in every thentence. On a more serious note, I thought Leslie Garret was excellent doing her little bit. Now come on people!! This was a tribute to the band, nothing more. The music would never sound the same in a million years because it's not Queen, so why watch it if you know it's not gonna live up to your expectations.???? I enjoyed it anyway, even if there was one or two artithts that cant even thing. |
David Jones 09.04.2005 18:51 |
Only worth watching to see Mylene Klass and Michael le Vell in drag... Crap choice of songs, where was Rock You and Champions? Mainly full of arseholes too... |
syncursor 09.04.2005 23:17 |
I think I'll be the "asshole" here and ask that someone upload this. I can't imagine it being that bad. At least there's a variety of "washed up" artists ruining Queen songs. It can't be any more painful than 1 "washed up" artist ruining an entire Queen tour and making you pay to see it. |
jamh2000 10.04.2005 04:21 |
Yeah it was fairly deathly- individually: One Vision- very luckluster backing , didn't really rock, singing from mel c pretty good. Barcelona- professional and excellent from leslie- a bit embarrassing from G4. I want to break free- the song is so good it actually pushed through the sillyness of the corination st thing! Don't stop me now- backing quite good, awful singing- what happened to her voice? She couldnt sing a clear tone and didn't hit a single note in tune. Who wants to live forever? Not bad- he is obviously an excellent singer, but it wasn't very exciting. You're my best friend- ghastly- horrid arrangement with some altered chords, terrible singing, didn't sing the right tune in the chorus. Bohemian rhapsody- shouldn't really be spoken of- those synth violins that come in instead of electric guitar are enough to make you want to jump off a bridge! |
slightly mad 22 10.04.2005 05:23 |
mylene class was the only decent one on there, only cos she changed the style of the song to suit her and actually played an instrument |
Banquo 10.04.2005 05:39 |
Just watched on tape I go out on a Saturday night on account of having a life. God Toyah was awful, Mel C for Crap. Heather Small was awful. The only creditable ones were Myleen Klass, G4 and Lesley Garret, Russell Watson and Tony Christie's lounge version of Your My Best Friend. Zoe Ball is still the fittest girl on TV though. Them leather pants. Phew |
Mayboy 10.04.2005 07:21 |
Best bits were clips of the real Queen between the performances, if it wasnt for that i would have switched off |
Terence 10.04.2005 12:44 |
Mel c i give 7 out of 10, g4 and leslie garret 7 out of 10,but the lead singer can only sing one note, theres only one tone to his voice, horrible. i want to break free 2 out of 10, heather small was horrific, jesus if freddie was buried he would be turning in his grave. 0 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!! toyah was also dreadful 1 out of 10, myleene class 7 out of 10, russell watson 7 out of 10, tony christie was dreadful 1 out of 10, g4 0 ut of 10 because they were singing their version of the classic and missing bits out just to please themselves, overall a poor show 4/10 the show must go on on itv2 was a little better but too many wanabee queen fans thinking they know something, dave berry????? calling freddies fashion sense!two idiot djs calling freddies teeth???itv2 can pick em. |

Bo Rhap was like that live _ or did you not ever see queen live? if not you must've heard a live bootleg...bo rhap was ALWAYS played live in an edited form - in some of the bootlegs i have, there's at least five differing live versions. please by all means dis the performance, but ffs don't dis G4 editing it in a similar way to how queen did live. 2. and who ARE YOU to call people "wannabee queen fans"??? who says they are any lesser fans than you? just because they are celebs it doesn't mean they can't be genuine fans |

They were there for their own agendas - new album (Mel C) new face (Toyah) new found celeb status (Tony Christie) etc etc. But he is right that they were definitely NOT Queen fans. If you listened to their interviews, most knew very little about the band - Freddie writing all the songs etc. And lets face it if they had been fans they would not have allowed themselves to get up on the stage and do such bl**dy awful renditions, which left most of us severely traumatised. Why the band allowed the show to happen in the first place I really can't understand. |
