"Is This The World We Created" is proably my 2nd favorite Queen song. If the words were about trivial stuff I would love it simply because of its stunning melody, and Freddie's very understated but emotionally urgent vocals.
But this song was one of the first and most significant steps for Queen as songwriters (Here Freddie & Brian), writing a song that had a very heavy and meaningful message about social, economic, and political...injustice, in a world crying out.
But in no way is the song preachy or overly soppy. It makes it's point through gorgeous lyrics, instrumentals (Brian's exquisite guitar), and Freddie puts so much conviction into the lyrics...I fall in love with the song....every time I hear it.....
White Man was also very socially / politically aware, and was released many years before ITTWWC.
Not to demean ITTWWC at all - it's a truly beautiful song. It just wasn't Queen's first effort in such a direction.
Couldn't Las Palabras De Amor kind of be seen as political also? And Put Out The Fire may not have been truly political, but it is a message against guns.
And also "The Miracle".
I'm glad though that Queen never messed up too much with politics, and were never hypocrits, unlike certain artists. These messages are wonderful, right, and anyone agrees, no matter what party we belong to.
