I need your help. Are there 2 versions of the video of "These Are The Days Of Our Lives"?
I hear all of you talk about the black & white version of "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" which I also think I heard only has Queen performing in it.
The ONLY version I have seen, is a Color version, with Queen and of course Freddie performing, with exquisite...animation intersperced throughout the video, cutting back & forth to Queen & Freddie,
and back & forth to the animation which is (for adults..not children). The animation is very serious and tells the lyrics' story showing the history of 2 lovers and also the lyric's tale of reflecting back on life and the meaningful focal points of it,
and uses symbolism about life including images of a butterfly and a merry go round..with a living horse...running wild beside the carousel, and shows the lovers (yes all via animation), making love to Brian's guitar solo, near the end.
So are there 2 versions and which do you prefer if so?

Can you tell me about the black & white version w/ Queen all the way through?
Also, which one do you think is better?
The animated one shows different footage of the band as well. It's not just the other one with animation over the top. It's all from the same shoot, but it's a different cut. Maybe it's all identical footage just rearranged, or maybe they just did a different edit with extra (different) footage. I'd like to watch them side by side, but I don't think that's possible on the computer... Hmmm...
Personally I prefer the straight one, as Freddie is 'on stage' for the very last time in this clip. It is his parting shot, and he knows it and shows it. There is a funny bit when he sings 'the rest of my life has been a show' and he displays this stupid grin, as to confirm that. I love the animation one as well, but I haven't got a very good copy of it. It is cut at the start and it seems a lot darker.
well the one with Queen all the way thru i think was shot in one go, wot u see is Freddie actually singin, and the one with the animations has footage from that original video and has been edited into the animated one, in my oinion, the original is much more emotional as u see all the band members expressions, u can see they know its not long, and u can see Freddie is really deteriating, the best i think is the original.
I just watched them together on the screen at the same time. Very interesting. I had it totally synced. (Media player and VLC player)
I certainly prefer the original black and white one. The animated version is really nice though, but only if you don't know what you're missing :)
The black and white one is freely available on the queen hub. If you can't get hold of it arlene, drop me a line at djaef@hotmail.com and we'll arrange something.

That one is edited too, as Brian wasn't present and had to be edited in later.
Thanks tons! for the help. I went on this website and see there are---4----versions of the "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" video, including 2 promos and where to find everything.
Unfortunatly this website won't let me WATCH the videos...which I really wanted to do.
I also love this entire website because it tells you that a ton of Queen's videos had various versions and more than 1 version, not just the video for TATDOOL and the Differences or added features or missing features in each version.(Virgin me! Forgive me!...I didn't know!...) Super informative & cool!
But does anyone know a website where I can Watch...in Microsoft Explorer Version 6, Windows Media Player, the Black & White version with Queen throughout the video of TATDOOL?
Thanks guys!!!!
In fact there are 3 versions of the TATDOOL,the disney cartoon, the black & white, and one directed by Andy Morahan which shows Queen playing that song but in purple colors and also shows images from concerts and videos of Queen, just like The Show Must Go On video. I've only seen this video broadcasted on MTV.
The one I've seen has Queen through a purple filter, with full color shadings thru the purple filter. The band, is intersperced like I said with the animation, and one lovely part, cuts back & forth to clips of love scenes from black & white live actual films with actors, with the animation as well, and shots of Brian playing an incredibly sublime and elegiac guitar solo.
The version I've seen shows Freddie physically gesturing along with all of the lyrics...including when Freddie sings the very last lyrics of the song:
Quote:
Those were the days of our lives - yeah
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true
When I look and I find (Freddie dramatically and emotionally reaches outwards with his arm & hand).
I still love you (Freddie dramatically and even more emotionally looks at the camera).
(Freddie tilts his head up and very softly speaks the last words at the camera.. with a look of bittersweet sadness & happiness in his eyes)...
I still love you
Very little of Queen is edited out from what I've seen, except for the part you all mention where you see Freddie exit and Roger still drumming.
I have NEVER seen those 2 parts, but, you do see the band interacting with one another. I never knew that Brian was Edited...IN...so the Director must have cued John to smile to I guess maybe a blue screen, and for Brian to smile I guess at a blue screen....
cause one of my favorite things in the version I've seen is how John & Brian smile at one another when Freddie is singing the lyrics about how important people & love in your life are...and it adds to the genuineness of that this is not just a video, but the band showing their affection and admiration for one another, just as they and Freddie are paying their farewell to this chapter in the band and to their fans, etc.
The video also begins with Roger playing percussion, congas actually...and cuts back to him alot, especially looking at Freddie....
The video ends, after Freddie speaks "I Still Love You" with the animated lovers walking a path..back..to one another, as you hear Roger playing the congas....very dramatic, effective, moving, stunning...you all get the point...
I know I go off about this song and video...but to me it's Queen's masterpiece, and as a final musical legacy...they really did steal the show...
