I love to see the picture gallary of Freddie. And I love to see his young day pictures, especially those with Mary Austin. I can't help thinking most of love songs he wrote were dedicated to her. I know his sexual tendency reflected in his music and style, but I am so much more interested in the time when he was with her, in other word when he was "straight".
But thats just the point - He wasnt exactly "straight" when he was with her either. According to a girlfriend of his previous to Mary, who now goes by the name of Rose Rose, Freddie was more and more interested in getting acquainted with a friend of hers, the film director Derek Jarman, and someother of her gay friends (if I remember rightly). She said this on the "This Morning" show broadcast in the UK not long after the "Freddie's Loves" program.

What exactly is this topic about? Do you mean era of music? style?
Because you seem to be talking about his sexuality...
I mean everything-music,lyric,style,look,fashion or whatever. His sexuality is just a hint to talk about his style. I like his music style in earlier stage and also the looks. It just happened those days are when he was with Mary.
I'm interested in everything about him, except some kinda trivial gossips which make people confused. But especially I'm interested in the era of pre-Queen and the early days of Queen before they reached the stardom. Much of those days have been rarely known to the public but I love to read the books and articles about them. I think I've leanred some essential things to try to be what we want to be by reading what he did to be the rock star. About music style, I prefer the era of '70s and about the stage style I go for the one from the ADATR tour to the NOTW tour especially.
Well... talking about his sexuality, I think he was already ambiguous or equivocal in his early twenties and imho his ambiguity (or equivocalness) was already reflected in some songs of early Queen...

I read Mary's interview on a magagine before. According to the article, Freddie confessed he was a bisexual(Mary corrected "I think you are a a gay") in 1980. Well does anyone think if his experience in the boarding school in India made him go that way?
Musically and the way Freddie looked, his costumes, his music etc., 2 eras..
I liked the early 1970's to about 1977-78, was Freddie's most artistic as a songwriter, evolving Queen as a band, and his many overall contributions to Queen in their growth and contributions to music and popular culture. He wrote his best songs. Bo Rhap, Somebody To Love, Love Of My Life, etc. I loved his exotic Zandra Rhodes costumes, his long hair, and his live & video performances then.
2nd period was around 1984-1986, best pop/rock songs he interpreted for Queen whether he wrote them or Roger, John, or Brian wrote them. Songs from "The Works" to "A Kind Of Magic" and "Live At Wembley Stadium" Years. Loved his regal yellow jacket costume, his royal ermine lined cape costume with crown, and his live & video performances then as well.

Yes...I prefer '70s style musically and in my case I prefer the era from '76 to '78 visually when he wore harlequin leotards. IMHO, in those days he seemd to embody his unique, artistic sensibility with a sort of pride and it seems as if he was an actor playing the leading part at the theater, playing sometimes comedy sometimes tragedy.Which made Queen stages very special, one and only...
