Kerry Ellis: No One But You link - alive & kicking
| John S Stuart 16.03.2005 18:47 |
New Edited Updated Version!!! 16 March 2005 - 23:52 UK. Oh bugger! Sorry - just noticed that this was posted by "innuendo1983" about 3 hours ago - in the "General Discussion" Forum. That's what I get for not reading those pages sooner! /queenzone/490811.html |
| Daburcor? 16.03.2005 19:29 |
As I said on Qol: "Wow!" |
| John S Stuart 16.03.2005 19:58 |
Dan: Seems that both the "Queen Online" - "Kerry Ellis: No One But You link - alive & kicking" thread - and the actual link itself, have been completely deleted from the "Lap Of The Gods" forum. |
| Daburcor? 16.03.2005 20:06 |
I just saw that! You done a BAAAAAAAD thing, Mr. Stewart. ;) |
| John S Stuart 16.03.2005 20:09 |
Dan Corson: "I just saw that! You done a BAAAAAAAD thing, Mr. Stewart..." No - it wasn't me - honest! It was those bigger boys at: /queenzone/490811.html who spotted this first!!! |
| Daburcor? 16.03.2005 20:19 |
Tsk, tsk... Shame, shame. Oh well! I liked it. And if QP is upset that some of us got it early, We'll just have to download it again on the proper day to ease their minds. ;) |
| John S Stuart 16.03.2005 20:29 |
I Wonder if it was supposed to be paid for? |
| Daburcor? 16.03.2005 20:52 |
I'm sure we'll know soon enough. |
| Adam Baboolal 16.03.2005 21:12 |
Of course it wasn't supposed to be paid for, otherwise why would Brian call it a free download and a gift, etc. It's their own fault for messing this up, so I say: Nelson Muntz - ha hahhh! Peace, Adam. |
| iGSM 16.03.2005 21:29 |
Sounds like Nelson is falling off a cliff. |
| John S Stuart 17.03.2005 07:30 |
Adam Baboolal: Of course it wasn't supposed to be paid for, otherwise why would Brian call it a free download and a gift, etc. That's EXACTLY what I thought. So why did they delete the link from "Queen Online"? It's not as if it robs them of any royalties or anything! |
| Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 17.03.2005 08:47 |
For those who listened to it: Is it the same Quenn+Eva Maria version with Kerry's vocals on? Cheers, Ogre- |
| Bohardy 17.03.2005 11:01 |
You can still download it Arnaldo. link My opinion, repeated here from the other post in General: It's Shit. Yes, with a capital S. The original was shit enough, and unsurprisingly this takes the excrement to a whole new level. This is the highlight of WWRY? Who are the plebs that enjoy watching/listening to this, and how can they possibly also like Queen II? Stage-school singers all need to be shot. Multiple times. And this girl needs to be at the head of the queue. What I find laughable is that Brian insists trite turgid tripe like this is 'rock and roll' and somehow embodies the spirit of Queen. Erm, how about no. |
| gr8kingrat 17.03.2005 11:31 |
its crap...sorry |
| Scirocco1977 17.03.2005 13:20 |
If it was not supposed to cost something, why did Brian make such a noise about it not being copyprotected??? |
| Adam Baboolal 17.03.2005 14:14 |
Scirocco1977 wrote: If it was not supposed to cost something, why did Brian make such a noise about it not being copyprotected???Brian has already voiced his disgust at certain Queen cd's being released with copy protection. Perhaps this is why... Are you lot paranoid? Why does everything Brian offers have to have something sinister behind it? Peace, Adam. |
| Scirocco1977 17.03.2005 14:29 |
But why copyprotect a FREE download? |
| Adam Baboolal 17.03.2005 14:44 |
Have you never heard of artists releasing songs that are copyprotected? They exist and they're no fun. I picked a song from an artist (legitimately) 4-5 years ago, yet I can't listen to it now because the server that would allow you to listen was pulled. Now it's just a waste of space on my backup cd. It's not rare - Do a web search. At least Brian cares not to share in this crap technological faffing with music files! Peace, Adam. EDIT: No, I didn't have to pay for it. |

Fucking hell, I think you were being too kind Bohardy. I like the musical and all, but no no, just no to this! My ears couldn't take any more just before the four minute mark. |
| Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 17.03.2005 15:55 |
Thank you, Bohardy. Just downloaded it but I'll only be able to listen later at home, since I'm at the office. Anyway, I didn't like the Eva Maria version. Don't know about this one. Nevertheless, I have to confess that when I was at the musical I cried when this was sung. And yes, Queen II is my favourite album (I'm Ogre-, after all). :) I just think the "there's a face at the window" line is creepy and sad to the extreme. I get the shivers just to think of it. Cheers, Ogre- |

Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira wrote: For those who listened to it: Is it the same Quenn+Eva Maria version with Kerry's vocals on? Cheers, Ogre-Indeed it is. I kinda like the Eva Maria Cortes version better than this, but this one's nice too |

I love Brian's music, but despite the obvious talent of all involved, that's muzak for housewives. I thought the original was about Brian's worst lyrical effort of all time, but it was sincere, and the last chorus key change was a nice touch. This is dreadful, if that's what the musical is like I'm glad I saved my cash when in Vegas last week. |
| inu-liger 17.03.2005 17:18 |
No, the rest of the musical is much better, based on what I've heard on my cast soundtrack CD (though it's a shame that there's very few spoken dialogue left in the CD, as some of the lines are hilarious! But that's good in some ways, cos it gives me more reason to go see the musical) |
| Hank H. 17.03.2005 18:22 |
Funny comments. I think now I have to download it tomorrow, but after reading your opinions I am a bit afraid. Orchestral version? Musical? I am worried. If it sounds like Brian's "artwork" looks, listening to it may be a bad idea. How generous to offer a free download without copy-protection. Hurrah! Hurrah! Hurrah! Lol. |
| Penetration_Guru 18.03.2005 15:52 |
She has a powerful voice. The drumming is really good. I've heard worse lyrics. It was free. Always look on the bright side of life... |
| Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 18.03.2005 16:49 |
Now that I've listened to it, well... nothing new or exciting in there. Let's hope the new tune it is rumoured that they wrote with Paul Rodgers is more like "Say it's not true" or the good bits of "Invincible hope", or at least doens't look like this orchestral version or "The call" at all. Cheers, Ogre- |

Bugger me! The link is now "officially" live - but at a cost of 99p. Seems that we were supposed to pay for this free gift after all!! link "...the Kerry Ellis "No-One But You" track is ready for download on Saturday... it's free..." link |
| Rien 19.03.2005 07:47 |
My guess is that there's something wrong! Free is free isn't it? |
| dbruce 19.03.2005 09:57 |
I got the download when it was still "free", and have given it quite a few listens now. The track is definitely unique. It's not really comparable to any Queen song (except perhaps WWTLF), and it's also not typical of the musical. I don't have my soundtrack handy, but the version I remember was definitely more like the original version than the orchestral one. While the soundtrack is great, it doesn't do the live performance of the musical or seeing Kerry (or the other Meats) doing NOBY enough justice Basically, don't think of this as a track from the musical. It's more of a "side project". Also, I think this is as far distant as it gets from the kind of songs they'll be writing with Paul. David |
| Adam Baboolal 19.03.2005 10:49 |
Good post, dbruce. Now, what the hell is with the 99p thing?? Yesterday, I was surprised Brian had put up a link before Saturday for the actual file and it was still free then. But now it's Saturday and they've changed the pages so that you have to buy it?? What is going on? Brian has been saying it's free for so long, so what gives? QP? Peace, Adam. |
| iGSM 19.03.2005 11:56 |
Suckers. Anything free is good. |
| Scirocco1977 20.03.2005 14:40 |
The way I see it: The artwork is free! And I am not kidding this time. Since Brian made such a fuss about this artwork being created by himself and everyone should download it, too, he added "it's free". And I would like to remind all of you that I wrote somewhere else that this copy-protected comment did hint to the fact that it would cost something! |
