Hahaha, I await Brian's annoyed soapbox post about everyone getting this too early and him cancelling the tour out of anger.
That doesn't mean I didn't download it, of course!
I always get a kick out of orchestral arrangements on Queen songs. Nice voice. But I don't think she captures the right mood. It's like she's singing it for the sake of it. Not to say she didn't do a good job, though!

Exactly. It's a nice performance, but for some reason I don't like performances of any songs where the vocals just totally overwhelm everything, and the vocalist draws eveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy word out for effect. It just seems to make the song go by a whole lot slower - I notice this with people who sing on American Idol, whenever I watch it (which isn't often).
There's really nothing like the emotion of the original recording, so I'll just say that I liked this version, but one listen is enough for me. Brian did a good job on bass, though! (yeah I know, of all the things I could've complimented...)
uhm uhm uhm
if they made us pay for it you all would be less critics with this beautiful orchestral version. This woman has a stunning voice...i'd say better than Brian for this song (but...what's happening with her voice on the word "wiIiIiIiIndow"? :P )
it takes time to arrange the song in this way, great quality version.
Congratulations and THANK YOU!
It's perfect as soundtrack to some movie running for 10-13 oscars and winning at least one for "best soundtrack" or whatever they call it :D
No one said it was shit, and I'm sure that if I'd paid to download this, I'd still have the same opinion. I'm not disputing that it's a lovely recording, because it is, and I think we all appreciate the time and effort that went into this.
OK Lester...my words were maybe too polemical for what i meant.
I think it's a very inspired version, both the music and the voice.
that's all
...but the first one who says that it's shit will be kicked... :P
It's Shit. Yes, with a capital S.
The original was shit enough, and unsurprisingly this takes the excrement to a whole new level. This is the highlight of WWRY? Who are the plebs that enjoy watching/listening to this, and how can they possibly also like Queen II?
Stage-school singers all need to be shot. Multiple times. And this girl needs to be at the head of the queue.
What I find laughable is that Brian insists trite turgid tripe like this is 'rock and roll' and somehow embodies the spirit of Queen. Erm, how about no.
This version is completely different to the one in the WWRY show. Just in-case people were wondering. And when I heard her sing this back in 03' it sounded fantastic.
Peace,
Adam.
IMO, and this has to be said: this is the least "Queenly" collaboration that Queen have ever worked on...and especially on one of their greatest ballads too.
I love Brian's music, but despite the obvious talent of all involved, that's muzak for housewives. I thought the original was about Brian's worst lyrical effort of all time, but it was sincere, and the last chorus key change was a nice touch. This is dreadful. Celine Dion's maudlin territory has been invaded.
This is EXACTLY why "Queenzone" is BETTER than "Queen Online".
First: If JasonMack (or others) believe "this sucks donkey willy." - they CAN say so, without fear of being lynched.
Second: Whilst this thread has remained intact since it was first launched (Posted: 3/16/2005 3:25:33 PM), at least TWO similar threads have been completely deleted without trace (or excuse) over on the other side.

Bugger me!
The link is now "officially" live - but at a cost of 99p. Seems that we were supposed to pay for this free gift after all!! link
"...the Kerry Ellis "No-One But You" track is ready for download on Saturday... it's free..." link
Okay - this is crazy!
The way "bri" has been going on for ages about this it appeared it was an exclusive online treat for fans. Now they want 99p for it!!!
I give up.
Mr Deacon - my hat is off to you.
