When I first seen the 1982 Milton Keyes DVD that was released recently, I was blown away by the perfermance, and how great Freddie's voice sounds.
Today in the mail, I received my double cd of the same show, and I popped it in the cd system at the business I work at, it was a slower day today...so I could give it some volume.
My co-workers couldn't believe how great the cd sounded... then when I told them it was a live show from 1982, they couldn't believe it.
As we were standing there, I realized just how great the tracks from Hot Space are live...
I know.. I know...
Some people on here think that if you are a guy, who likes anything from the Hot Space album, then you must tease your ass hairs with anal beads before bed every night...
But whatever, "Action This Day" and "Staying Power" from Milton Keyes kick total ass...
What do you guys think?

Many people, myself included, think the album versions are piss poor, yet the live versions are quite good. I would go as far as to say that the Hot Space tour in general is more exciting than the Works or Magic tours.
Still, your use of metaphor is touching...
I actually like the album versions of the Hot Space songs better. The live ones are great as well, however. They are different. More energy, but they lose a lot of their charm. It suits a live setting that way, however.
I think they're better live too, can you tell me if you buy WWRY(fast version) like on an album (apart from the concert one) ? I really love the fast version ! xx xx xx xx xx :-D
I've always liked the album versions, but the energy at Milton Keynes was amazing. And I think the DVD helped people to discover Hot Space songs again and realize that they're not that bad.
I totally agree i posted a similar topic not so long back and funnily enough i was playing the cd just yesterday the hot space tracks sound different and better live even though the album versions are good as they were trying out some different sounds staying power especially is fantastic live.
I agree the hot space tour is better than the the very thin and tinny sound of the works but the magic tour sounded brilliant fresh and loud.
Setlist wise, the Works tour was probably the most exciting tour of all. Many classics were brought back or even played for the first time on a regular basis, great new songs were introduced into the set. Unfortunately due to several reasons the performances weren´t that great.
During the Hot Space they didn´t play enough old songs in my opinion, at least on the U.S. leg where they even dropped Somebody to love and performed more Hot Space tracks than in Europe. However, the performances are really great and yes I think the Hot Space tracks sound much better in concert than on the album.

Plain and simple, Live versions of the hot space albums are much better! We Will Rock You Fast Version (i know, its not from hot space!), Action this day, staying power etc, It is the best live albuk iv ever heard, and iv got live killers, live magic, live at Wembley etc, this one though is the best yet!
I think myself that the Hot Space album is quite good but Staying Power, Action This Day, Under Pressure, Back Chat etc, are great live.
Not too keen on Body Language or Calling All Girls live though. Their not bad but not brilliant in my opinion.
yeah, whenever I watch MK concert DVD, I'm blown away. They are still brilliant in both heavy numbers and quiet ones, esp. The Hero, Action This day, Somebody To Love, Staying Power, Love Of My Life, Save Me, and Fat Bottomed Girl. QUEEN still rock!
p.s. About Action This Day, I like both studio version and live version. In studio version, Roger's voice sounds more effective in chorus part and I like that part a lot.
