What religion? Or does it have to be a specific one?

you can apply nearly any song to religion if you try hard enough. I went to Catholic school and once one of my teachers used the Bob Marley song "Don't Worry, Be Happy" to talk about how god takes care of people and we all know the song really isn't about that.
Be creative with it. Stretch your applications that way you will at least have fun with it.
How about 'Where Peaceful Waters Flow' by Chris De Burgh. Google it to find the lyrics, it's a beautiful song. Substitute the word 'Love' for 'God' and I reckon that'll work pretty well.
We have to have a catholic type song but the prayer we are doing is both catholic and buddhist we decided on either 2 steps behind by def leppard or show me the way by peter frampton
Depends on what the theme of the service is. When I was in grade 11 I sang a solo at the Grade 12's graduation mass called "By My Side" which was a song from the musical Godspell (or was it Jesus Christ Superstar?) which was quite appropriate. The next year when we had our first school mass for the year as Grade 12's we picked "The Homecoming" by Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler as the entry procession piece. Again, very cool!
