Does anybody else thinks that 'What Are We Made Of?' is one of most underrated Brian's songs? It's one his best ones, IMO, but since it wasn't on any of his solo albums the song isn't much popular for Queen fans. I didn't see this one on any lists and polls on this site! I really would preffer WAWMO on Another World instead of Slow Down.
For the guys who doesn't know what song I'm talking about: in 1996 Brian recorded two tracks for The Adventures of Pinocchio original motion picture soundtrack: "Il Colosso" (a collaboration with Emmy Award-winning composer Lee Holdridge, Brian wrote lyrics and music, sang for 'massed peasant chorus & chambelain' and 'Just William' as The Hero - his voice was changed and it sounds as a little boy's vocal, and arranged) and "What Are We Made Of?" - performed by Brian with Norwegian star Sissel. Tracks were recorded at Allerton Hill stuido. WAWMO is really worth to find track if you haven't heard this.
Serry i think the same!I'ts a lot we don't talk about this song. Sissel was the female singer.
Do you also think that the Furia Soundtrack is a little big masterpiece?

Yes I do, there are some great the Red Special sounds on it and of course one of greatest Brian's ballads 'Dream Of Thee'!
Thank you for the link, DArk!
the world MUST know this song
Serry congratulations for your music taste!too bad that the Furia movie never arrived here in Italy :/ only the soundtrack!
and...our prime minister always says that "russians are friends of us" ;)

You're welcome.
And btw. wasn't "Furia" a French film?
Furia was a french/british production.
Never released at cinema here in italy for what i know. it is not popular even in France i think :|
They made some scenes in Africa, Thomas.
Dan Corson wrote: Isn't there a version of Il Colosso that Brian sings lead on?
He sings lead on all versions actually. But his voice was changed in the way like it's singing by young boy. For 'real' Brian's voice check link - there's mp3.
Furia, a masterpiece? I listened yesterday while commuting to work and it is absolutely boring. However, a 6 minutes edit of the entire CD would be one of the best Brian's tracks!
your job was boring!...:P
seriously...
the repetition of the main theme in different ways is typical of soundtracks, cos they tend to underline some feelings and emotions. There are two tracks different from the main theme anyway, the tango and the reggae. I refer Furia as a masterpiece cos Brian was able to create a very good atmosphere, he composed a touching ballad and he was able to arrange the songs in a very good way imho
all in one
:)
Seriously.......listen to 'Furia', and then watch 'Young Frankenstein'.
Brian damn near carbon-copied what Cloris Leachman and Marty Feldman played on violin during that movie made in '74.
Not one of Brian's most original works. Crunched down to under ten minutes, it's OK.
Oh well, keeping in mind that soundtracks are repetitive, it is not too bad. But Pinocchio (Il colosso + What Are We Made Of) is way, way better!! Perhaps the best BM after Freddie's death. A must for every Queen and BM fan.
I have to admit- I'm not crazy about it... I love DREAM OF THEE0 now that's a masterpiece! Il Colloso has it's WONDERFUL moments, but I can't "swallow" What are We Made Of for some strange reason...
