Due to the possibility of having exclusive access to ticket purchase for the upcoming tour I decided to become an official member of the fan club.
So I wondered how many people here are members of the fan club, and how do you feel about it?
Been a member for getting on 30 years now! I guess I renew out of habit now, but during the late 70's through to the Tribute concert all my tickets were fan club reserved etc.
Stopped going to the conventions when the kids came along might start again though soon! All in all for what it costs its OK but it must be difficult keeping it fresh with all the new competition and its so much easier to get information nowadays!
Joined 1990 so 15 years for me. Managed to get tickets to the FM tribute concert and the current tour so I'm fairly happy with it although a few more benefits / fan club exclusives would be nice but its difficult to do that in the internet age.
I have been a member for 20 years. It has been over the last 5 years when I have really questioned sending off the renewal form. The internet age has made the fc redundant in some ways, forums such as this provide the latest news and discussion.
It is a bit of a perk getting to book tour tickets 24 hours in advance of the official 'online' fanclub and the general public. Unfortunately the club hasn't come out of this tour fiasco very well and has taken a fair bit of stick.
I go to the conventions and try to go to events such as the FM parties so being in the club still feels like being part of something. The pre booking of tour tickets gives a feeling of exclusivity even if the tickets aren't the best in 'the house' but then you have to ask 'why didn't we get front row?' etc!
The fan club may not be what it used to be but no doubt I will still rejoin again in December (after considering if it's worth it!) even if just to get 3 more magazines to add to the collection!
Yup, been a member since '86, and until the last couple of years it was definitely worth it, e.g. FM Tribute, Xmas Party (The Cross, Brian gigs etc...) solo tours advance tickets, in-store appearance news for The Cross and Roger) etc...
Once the internet started to relay news quicker than the QFC could get the magazines out, (and Brian got his website up and rnning), the fan club mag. has become a bit redundant (and only gets sent semi-regularly thse days for an increased subscription). It looked as though Jacky was going to get with the times with constant promises of member only parts to the QFC website with exclusive downloads etc...but after a few years of promise nothing seems to have come of this. Whereas before most members would grin and bear it and renew their membership, the Brixton ticket fiasco seems to have brought the problems to a head and could spell the end of them as I've never seen so many loyal QFC members become so (rightly) disgusted with how they've been treated.
Only time will tell...
Chris
Now regarding the new tour, has anyone (aside from the Brixton show) had any problem getting exclusive access for earlier ticket sales and seats closer to the stage?
