--What a quandry. Since Freddie to me is perhaps the greatest vocalist, male or female in modern music in the last century, I think that had he had more time....and put thought into the creative, artistic, business, promotional end,
what with what projects he chose to work on, etc.-
--that he could have a solo career the likes of each of the members of the Beatles once they split, or Clapton after he left The Yardbirds, or Sting once he left the Police or Phil Collins once he left Genesis.--
--Alot of how well the standout talent/vocalist does when they pursue a solo career is like I said, choice of material, artistic direction, great record deal/manager/business team who can get them the material, recognition, boost of image, art, profile they deserve.--
--Look at Stevie Nicks. I have followed (and adore)her solo career and she had like I was discussing in my forum post about boosting Queen's image, guess who--
--Led Zeppelin's former Press Agent--
--Danny Goldberg--who had just turned Record Mogul/Manager, behind her in the early 1980's when she was--
--understandably--concerned--that her solo career would flounder outside of Fleetwood Mac. Danny and Stevie set out to get the right Producer--
--(who wouldn't mess with her artistic vision),-------------Most IMPORTANT-------
--the right record A&R people, and when they could NOT find a record label to properly support and develop her...---
--She and Danny, with Music Mogul Paul Fishkin, formed their OWN record label--just for her and her music called Modern Records.--
--I think if Freddie had been as fortunate with the right team backing him up, he could have been a superstar, and easily gotten bigger that Sting or Clapton or Phil Collins, etc.--
--Freddie was already smartly pursuing artistic directions and projects completely different than the music of Queen.--
--He did film and theater soundtrack work, with "Metropolis" and "Time". He did "Barcelona" of course since opera was one of the loves of his life. Can you imagine what the stars/fate could have held for him and his artistic career?--
--Here's one for all of you. With respect to actor Christopher Lambert, I always wondered and thought why Freddie didn't consider acting and read for the lead role in "Highlander". --Which I think he would have been....miles...better at...--
--being such a natural showman who pretty much acted at all of the Queen concerts to entertain his fans to the absolute maximum effect and quality.--
--For the time period of the film in the middle ages, Freddie could easily have worn his hair long like in Queen's 1970 days, then for the modern time part of the film, I mean seriously have you seen Freddie in a tailored suit and wearing both, a black bow tie, and a white bow tie. --
---What a proper Gentleman for "Highlander" and I'm sure any film he could have acted in , drama or comedy, period piece, you name it.--
--And I truly belive with Freddie being such a showman, that he could and would have been a fine (Oscar caliber) actor. Tons of singers from Streisand and Sinatra to David Bowie have garnered tons of critical acclaim for their acting work....and Freddie well he was a natural and so gifted.--
--With his background in ballet, I think he would have done wonderful things choreographing dance works, musicals, and even dancing on the stage.--
--Freddie was so multi talented he could have done and taken on almost any realm of the arts and I'm sure....taken all of our breath away, critics and fans alike.--
How the hell do you personally know Freddie couldn't act, are you his acting coach, a Hollywood big wig.. You're making a statement without any substantiation, as Freddie never tried acting.
Also what's an accent go to do with anything?
Me thinks I hear a spoiled sport!!!
