It's a question I've asked myself infrequently over the years. I remember his appearance on 'Smith and Jones' many moons ago when I was simply known as A. Leach. OK he was a bit stilted and looked very uncomfortable upon his entrance but hell he was better than the two comedians who wrote the sketch (Maike it a double then - priceless).
However, whilst watching the Brits a couple of weeks ago (I know I'm topical but I have got a life - Oh no you haven't - ED) our hairy axe god told Chris Evans that he wouldn't get him (Brian) doing comedy.
Now while the jokers out there will shout 'Haven't you seen the musical it's one big comedy!', my reply is 'Yes I have seen the musical, twice infact and I can assure you there's nothing to laugh at'.
I digress. I think it's a right royal shame that Brian doesn't dabble in the world of mirth and joshing. We all know Freddie had some classic one liners, Roger makes me laugh with his 'everybody gets better rooms than me and I@ve still got that jacket' attitude and John just has to show his face and I'm in stitches.
If you're reading this Brian please don't hesitate to contact my goodself or that other rotter Flashman for some tips. We'll be at Manchester so look out for us.
Have you got any examples Sir Archie? - Ed
Only a couple off the top of my head and I'm afraid Flashman must take most of the credit for these little beauties.
During the Bohemian Rhapsody story they showed various photographs of all four bandmembers. What Brian should have made them do is pan along just Brian, Roger and Freddie and miss John out or alternatively if John was in the middle of the photograph speed past him with no namecheck.
It's a pity John couldn't get involved in the said same programme because they could have had John disappearing constantly during the filming and showing Brian constantly collecting him from lapdancing clubs.
I'm sorry but that sounds like you're having a go at John - Ed
Ok how about the scene when Brian and Roger start jamming and playing 'Tear It Up' in the studio when they should be talking about and playing 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. The next shot should have been them flying through the air onto the floor after getting kicked out by the owner, followed by their instruments.
Ok forget the comedy Brian, but if you want to make a lot of people smile give Paul Rodgers a push off the stage as he breaks into 'Alright Now'.
Love but no kisses
Sir Archie
Brian has a wonderful, natural sense for comedy. Haven't you seen his ventriloquist act? You obviously aren't attending the right parties. It's a knockout. He calls his puppet Deacy, and the following routine had me in stitches:-
Brian: What's your favourite musical, Deacy?
Deacy: Mama Mia!
Brian: Mama Mia let me go!
Deacy: I would if you didn't have your hand up my arse.
Priceless.
