Not sure if this is old news, but two of my favorite bands are going to do a cover of under pressure. Sounds exciting-- apparently they came onstage in a recent concert in New Jersey to do an encore with it. I think both bands have the stuff to do a cool job with it.
That's awesome !!! I really like My Chemical Romance even though I only know one song which is I'm not ok but i still think they are cool :D
so are any of em plannin on releasin it as a single ?
My revolver and a bullet in the brain are doing a cover of HOLY SHIT CANT THESE BANDS LEAVE GOOD SONGS ALONE AND LET THEM BASK IN THE GLORY THEY DESERVER. I swear to god, first the Atari's with Boys of Summer. NO THAT WASNT THEM, IT WAS DON FRCIKIN HENLY. If you have run out of so much creative energy that you steal others songs and turn them into crap, maybe its time you call it quits.
hmmm, so then freddie singing jailhouse rock is overrated?
i think that having new bands reinterpret classics is awesome, b/c it will cause a younger generation to get interested in queen. it will be fun, interesting, and i'll definitely want to hear it.
It doesnt necessarily get younger people interested in Queen. I use, once again, Boys of Summer as an example. I have yet to meet an Atari's fan who has atleast even heard the origanal version of the song. I dont care if people cover it, just dont change it. Songs were made how they were for a reason. Thats how the artist wanted them to sound. Play the songs all you like, just keep them in their origanal form.
A lot of covers suck. But then, there are some that are really awesome (i.e. Queen's rnr medleys). As long as both bands remain true to the song and try not to have drug-induced 'creative moments' we should be fine!
I think it's fairer to give the song a chance before dismissing it. Who knows, it might be awful, but if it gets more people to listen to and respect Queen's music, then how bad can it be?
just a quick update...i saw these guys do under pressure at a concert shown by mtv, & before the song they made a point to say, 'this song was originally recorded by david bowie & freddie mercury' and that the proceeds go to tsunami aid. and they did a great job too.
