The leotard was stolen from Freddie's dressing room following a gig in 1978.
I think the guy who stole it is a big Formula 1 fan as I have seen him waving it around towards the end of several races. The police however refuse to take me seriously whenever I alert them to his presence.
fatty.
fatty, the authorities are in on it. No wonder they don't take you seriously. They don't seem to care when I report WATC being stolen and played at a lot of sports events. It's like every cop has something against Queen!
Hello All. I have a copy of Earl's Court 1977 and Freddie's not wearing the B/W outfit. Instead, it's an orange/white/green checkered leotard of the same diamond pattern. I am not sure when the Black and White one was worn...but i'm sure it's from the same era.
Ramses you ar eright, it is a orange, green one in that concert i checked it out. so any ideas where the black and white one is from? i know it must be 1978/79 era.
Correct. The black and white checks were worn for the US "News" tour. For the European tour he used the black and white stripes. I recently saw the stiped one on ebay up for sale.
Sorry, they were so similar that it's easy to get mixed up!

I know that he wore a green, red and white leotard during Earls Court and in later 1977 i think he wore the b/w one more. Also i think he wore the silver shiny one. That wasn't a diamond design one just a normal shiny silver one. Does anyone know how many times this was worn and when he wore it. I've only seen a cliup of him wearing it during Sheer Heart Attack inj late 1977 poss early 1978.
I don't know exactly how many times he wore the silver shiny outfit. ( I think noone could count it actually...) But as far as I know he wore it for the encore as we can see it in the video of Earls Court and the official rare live video. Depending on his mood, he changed the costumes three or four times during one stage around the era of such costumes.
Well...I think he wore those Nijinsky-type ( or harequin type) outfits from UK shows in september '76 including Hyde Park...for I have a photo book reporting the concert of Edinburgh '76 (before Hyde Park) where he wore the white leotard and a kimono. In those days he reappeared in a kimono with red-striped shorts beneath it for the encore...I also think he still wore a kimono around the early '77 and then, he began to wear the shiny outfit for the encore usually instead of wearing a kimono...cuz he always pursued lots of variety.

I have the opposite problem! Didn't Freddie also wear the black and white checks under a leather jacket in the don't stop me now video? I'll check it tonight, but I'm pretty sure he did...
Yep, I got that one in my closet somewhere. It's my fave outfit, so I had one made to the tune of about $600.00 and it's fun to wear. Only problem, no trap door for uh, uh I gotta go to the you know where. But yes, Fred did wear that in Dec. 77 show in Ft.Worth Tx. My first concert ever! Rock on!!!

He also wore a shinny red sequined leotard during the Japan tours of 79. It had long sleeves like the silver one but it had short pants instead of the long legs down to his ankles. He came out on the shoulders of a roadie in that Superman costume. Not his best outfit onstage. You think the roadie got bonus pay for dressing like that?
