Carrots Of The Piratebean 04.03.2005 09:00 |
I'm at 140 so far |
The Fairy King 04.03.2005 14:10 |
156 out of 270 :D Muse aren't on it -.-" Milli Vanilli are o.0 soooo wrong! xD |
Lady Cool Cat 04.03.2005 18:24 |
Oh, well...I suck at these music quizzes... |
Bohardy 04.03.2005 21:14 |
173 so far. There's a fair few I know that I just can't remember the names of just yet. There's some quality blasts from the pasts there though. Alisha's Attic...Wilson-Phillips...Housemartins...The Communards... Random. |
wesi72 04.03.2005 21:16 |
Only 149...mind it's getting late here! Some blasts from the past...Black Lace, Sleeper, Dexys...happy days! |
Bohardy 04.03.2005 21:54 |
Black Lace! THAT'S who those 2 fucking muppets are! I've been wracking my brains for ages trying to remember that. I knew I knew them, and I knew they were twats. Anyway, I'm on 190 now. |
iron eagle 04.03.2005 23:12 |
i got 98 thus far toughie |
eggy 05.03.2005 05:13 |
Upto 182 now, a friend at work has 221, so i've gotta try a bit harder. Theres a few i know but the names just don't come to me until i'm walking around the town and go "that's it, the crash test fucking dummies". Boy do I look cool! |
Penetration_Guru 05.03.2005 10:05 |
When you've given up, give me a shout and I'll give you the answers |
Penetration_Guru 05.03.2005 10:41 |
And to be fair to IE, it's pretty UK-specific. |
Haystacks Calhoun 05.03.2005 11:37 |
Tough for us 31 year old Americans.... I've gotten 112 so far, without help.... But a lot of these I have simply no clue, as most look like they are 80's synth Gay Bar musicians....with a few 60's wanna be's, and the like. |
Bohardy 05.03.2005 14:31 |
211 now. Wait, let me find the Crast Test Dummies...212 now. Thanks eggster! |
Penetration_Guru 05.03.2005 15:59 |
Anyhting above that is pretty impressive. I got to about 190 before I cheated and found all the recent ones lower down that I was clueless about. Although I did get Outkast Dave Clarke Five deep purple and even flock of seagulls! but should really have got Living In A Box & Bad COmpany... |
Jjeroen 05.03.2005 16:50 |
Tsss... Nice, but not exactly right. But let's turn the creators' failure in something joyfull. Here's ROUND TWO just for you: *There is one picture in there from a TRIBUTE BAND!! Name the real band and get a special bonus for naming the band that is actually in the picture!* |
geeksandgeeks 05.03.2005 19:05 |
I got up to 107 before I had to leave. Don't think I was going to get too many more - I don't know what most of these guys look like. Though my score was better than my boyfriend's. 34. I knew he was a philistine, but I didn't know he was THAT bad. |
Bohardy 06.03.2005 13:37 |
220 now...must beat eggy's mate's record. For the tribute act question I reckon either #65 (no idea who they are, they just look wrong) or The Village People. |
Jjeroen 06.03.2005 14:08 |
Nope... hehehe But come on: they have a tribute band, which meens they will probably pretty well known! (And they ARE indeed ;-) One of these days I will tell. But I'm not going to spoil round two just yet. |
iron eagle 06.03.2005 14:43 |
i swear there is a pic of kashagoogoo there me knowing boy bands scared the *F* out of me |
wesi72 06.03.2005 15:18 |
I have bought a good few of no. 65's singles. I'm struggling a bit with this - got up to 172, but I know I should know at least another 20 or 30...the male groups with girl singers are causing some problems. Oh and it's Kajagoogoo, hope that helps, they are there! |
Penetration_Guru 06.03.2005 15:19 |
There is, you're just spelling it wrong. And the tribute band is obvious, once you know there is one. The bassist looks right, guitarist & drummer nobody ever recognises anyway, but the singer is too fat in the face. Am I right? |
Bohardy 06.03.2005 16:47 |
I've beaten eggy's mates record. I've got 222 now. And I reckon Kiss is the answer to jeroen's question. That and Kings Of The Nighttime World, or Kissnation. Proably the former. |
LiveAidQueen 06.03.2005 17:40 |
63, Aren't I a smarty... |
Jjeroen 06.03.2005 17:52 |
And we have a winner!!! The Guru strikes again. Congratulations PG! ;-) Indeed the Gene Simmons dude looks pretty good, but the other three gave themselves away in a split second (well, to me anyway). Hmmm... now I have to think of a prize, right? ;-) |
iron eagle 06.03.2005 21:40 |
i believe i am spelling it right...guess not same with 83 hmmmmmmmmm |
eggy 07.03.2005 05:23 |
Nearing 200 now (197). If only I wasn't busy over the weekend! Can't believe I only just recognised Squeeze. Given me hope there more to get anyway! |
wesi72 07.03.2005 16:21 |
Done it! Got about 200 by myself, the rest with help from mates!!! Now I can have my life back again ;-) |
The Real Wizard 08.03.2005 01:43 |
Wow, I'm amazed at how many of you have gotten over 100. I consider myself to be musically diverse, and I got 61 - but over half the stuff I listen to isn't pop. There's far too much brit-pop in the quiz for my tastes. How'd you learn so much anyway, Geeks? :P |

Just not my musical taste in this list (way to much soul/hip-hop/r&b stuff from the 60/70/80's) |

It's very UK-biased, GH. There's a lot of shit bands there that were one-hit-wonder types. Anyway, I'm on 225 and pretty much calling it a day. What do I win?... Oh, and who's number 65 then Wesi? |

Couple of old ones doing my head in!! I've got #65. Calling it a day unless someone can give me some of the answers or tips:- #9,10,23,26,47,54,67,68,73,84,86,88,89,90,94,102,107,112,130,137,138,139,140,147,152,153,158,169, 192,194,196,197, 202,203,204,206,207,209,212,215,219,221,222,223, 227,230,234,236,237,241,247,254,258,260,263,264, 265. IE: in the UK we spell 'travelling' with 2 l's... W-A-T-C: 9 = L,B 10 = L,P 26 = S,S,C 47 = T,D 54 = B,B 264 = J,B,A,T,M There's a few hints for starters. How about you help me on 27,31,41,49,65 and 97? I'm guessing you're of an older generation than I as you seem to not know most of the newer bands... You seem to have all the ones I haven't got, and I seem to have all the ones you haven't. Between us I reckon we'd complete this. |
iron eagle 08.03.2005 17:25 |
agh! 49- hard to give a hint without giving it away-- instrument in picture--70s band the others are ones i have not figured out yet either... |
Mr.Jingles 08.03.2005 17:41 |
77 so far I feel so ashamed, but there's too many Brit pop acts that are not well known in America. That makes it harder. |
eggy 08.03.2005 18:05 |
Bohardy - 31 read my previous post 49 - Mr Blue Sky my friend has 65. I'll tell you that tomorrow 210 now. main ones pissing me off are 12 and 16! |

Hints: 27 F, A 31 Hug someone (too easy) 41 80's band...had a hit with an American bomber plane. 49 70/80,s band from Birmingham. Think Ludwig Van. 65 F,P 97 Famous bassist last name and colour. Any problems let me know. There are some on there where I haven't a clue!!! |

86 - Had a hit with 'Mr Jones'. 90 - Eddie Vedder's band 112 - There's a young George Ivan Morrison there... 130 - From Bradford I think. Rock music, but biggest hit was 'Tequila'. 169 - Mid 80s band. Harked back to doo-wop, soul and Motown. Choreographed dance moves and tight musicianship. 206 - Lead singer Bobby Gillespie. Had an album called 'Screamadelica'. 209 - Never heard of them. 215 - Very recent one-hit-wonders from 219 - One of their members famously chucked a bucket of water over John Prescott at some function. I think it's spelt wrong. 234 - Can't tell you a lot about them, except they're early 90s, and have a stupid name about someone's nuclear waste receptacle. 237 - As above, but this time they're named after after someone who's a perpetual shagging engine. 241 - The US equivalent of Hear'Say. 250 - I know bugger-all about them. 258 - US all-girl grunge shockers. Famous for chucking a used tampon into the crowd at Reading Festival. When PG posted his thread with all the answers I gave in to temptation and filled in the blanks. I still win though! |
