"Teo Torriate" was dedicated to the Japanese intern at KDHX here in St. Louis as she was leaving to go home the next day. Because of her, I became a Queen fan. How's that for sharing? Maiko, you rock! --Llewy, a faithful listener |

Adam Baboolal: How do you mean standalone versions? Does that just mean their intros and outros are edited? No - they are not TRUE stand alone versions. They just start at a more convenient point in the recording - which any segued-seperated track should on a multi-tracked CD. For example: during the initial strident piano chord of "Love Of My Life" (Jewels II version), it is still possible to hear the very tail-end of the "Prophet's Song/Love Of My Heart" harp sound - if you listen out for it. It is a "good edit" in that the song starts at a more logical point than the "Night At The Opera CD version", but at the same time - it is still the same track (ignoring the above post) but with a more precise starting point - ie the first TRUE "Love Of My Life" Piano Chord. However, it is nothing which could not be achieved at home with a mini-disc player and a lot of patience! Having said that, Jewels II is still a worthwhile purchase. |

I'm glad my friend bought it for me... |

Good words there, Alex. Btw. I'm jealous that you're going to Japan. Here's some Japanese words fer ya in the meantime: Ohayo Gozaimasu! - Good Morning! Konbanwa - Good evening Oyasumi nasai - Good night "Watashi wa Alex Solan desu" - "My name is Alex Solan" Ja ne - See you later Sayonara - Goodbye Genki deska? - How are you? Genki desu! - I'm fine! Hajimemashte - Pleasure/nice to meet you (used when meeting someone for the first time only) I'll list some more as they come to memory Btw. What's going on in Argentina? |

This Teo Torriate download is analagous to an after-hours bank heist: "Uh ... da bankers don't need da money - der filty rich. Come on - No one gets hert. da govament insures all da money anyway." This download repeatedly steals from QP (over 100 downloads???). This is massive fraud. I will admit that I obtained illegal copies of the Queen Rocks Videos (never available in NTSC format) and Made in Heaven - The Films, but my thievery is miniscule compared to the blatent, massive and very public fraud perpetrated by Dark. I am sure that if Queenzone or The Queen Hub get harrassed by legal authorities, that there will be many here at Queenzone that would rightfully blame Dark. I urge all those who have not yet downloaded from Dark, to refrain from doing so. A slight remix is not worth stealing, especially when a massive fraud like this plays into the hands of the RIAA who continue to crack down on pirates and customers rather than look inward to improve music industry. |
inu-liger 01.03.2005 11:08 |
Rippy, there's no point saying anything now. The damage is done, and there's hardly anyone left who hasn't asked me for a copy (bar the people like John, P_G, YV, and you, who obviously will never ask me for a copy, being the Stepfords you all are) |

(YV, on the other hand, COULD get in trouble should the proper authorities/lawyers take action, since SHE owns and runs it, after all) And besides, I've only offered ONE MP3 compared to numerous others that people have offered over the past few years (did anyone complain when all the re-makes of WWRY and WATC got put up online, even though they were ON SHELF?? NO!!) |

Good point, Inu. There's a hate campaign against you and it's really disgusting. There have been and currently still are plenty of downloads that have come through Queenzone in one way or another. Many other individuals and groups are involved. I wouldn't say you're part of the problem. Heck, we've all uploaded songs/videos we shouldn't have. Demos, b-sides, tv recordings, etc. etc. And these are no different from uploading/downloading a single track such as Teo Torriatte. Even some of Rien's innocent uploads on his site are copyrighted works. RVB, if you really care about the whole illegal downloads thing and aren't trying to put it all on Inu, you'll stop downloading tracks from this site altogether. Otherwise, you're doing the exact same thing as Inu. We're all in the same boat... Peace, Adam. |
John S Stuart 01.03.2005 12:14 |
I have to agree with Rip Van Winkle: "This is massive fraud." Furthermore, each one of those downloads has the potential to spawn more illegal distributions. What ...(a.k.a. Bum's Storm-pooper) fails to realise is that the proper authorites are specifically searching for this sort of abuse, and when caught, not only can he be fined for the distributed copies, BUT the POTENTIAL earnings of all the replicated downloads ALSO. All electronic equipment in the building can be confiscated and destroyed, and finally, a prison sentence CAN also be enforced - thereafter (a.k.a. Bum's Torn-Pooper). Unfortunately, there is NO legal defence. Rather than viewing me as "the enemy" in actual fact, I have been trying to protect you, and stop you from making a complete tw*t of yourself, because "...a massive fraud like this plays into the hands of the RIAA..." |
John S Stuart 01.03.2005 12:31 |
Adam: Can I point out there is no "disgusting" "hate campaign against" anyone. Although "There have been... plenty of downloads which have come through Queenzone...", NONE have been store-purchaseable products or MASS distributions, and while the hub remains essentially nameless, (a.k.a. Bum's Torn-Pooper) has tagged every copy he has distributed. Personally, I don't think the RIAA are interested in minor infringements, and I am sure that the odd swap from ONE source to another is NOT worth their attention. However, the cavalier MASS scale replication we have witnessed in here of late, WILL be ringing alarm-bells SOMEWHERE, and when old Dark-boy ends up on Canada's most wanted, it will be fun to watch all his newly acquired friends disapear as quickly as snow off a dyke. |

And besides, I've only offered ONE MP3 compared to numerous others that people have offered over the past few years (did anyone complain when all the re-makes of WWRY and WATC got put up online, even though they were ON SHELF?? NO!!)It has to do with your attitude in all of this. You are illegally distributing one song that can be purchased legally, which other QZers have also done in the past (Annie Crummer, John Farnham, Five, Robbie Williams, all come immediately to mind). Is it fair that they were largely ignored while you are not? Perhaps. But did they start six different threads announcing what they were doing, reply at least five times that to said threads, call those who disagree with them "fucktards" and "stepfords," and blame others for all of this? Personally, I think this is overblown. It's one track on a CD that is only available in one country; it's probably not enough to get QP to prosecute anyone. But don't kid yourself, Dark. You are still offering something illegally and are advertising it on a very public noticeboard. And I suspect this has more to do with ego than altruism. |
YourValentine 01.03.2005 12:39 |
First of all, I don't own and run the hub, get your facts straight, Dark. Secondly, since when am I a Stepford because I did not ask you for an mp3? If you don't mind, I collect the way I find it right and that is sure not asking you of all people for anything. And that is not a hate campaign, it's just my own private decision. I did not say anything about your spreading the song except that Queenzone is not responsible for it. |

Similar to Dark here, one user often posted a link to download these items. I can remember two users specifically who distributed Crummer's AOBTD remix and Farnham's WWRY. Who knows how many actually downloaded them at that time. However, the cavalier MASS scale replication we have witnessed in here of late, WILL be ringing alarms some-place, and when old Dark-boy ends up on Canada's most wanted, it will be fun to watch all his newly acquired friends disapear as quickly as snow off a dyke.I agree that that is the problem. Zeni: What duck!!!? I agree with your point, and perhaps I have painted my picture a little too bleakly. However, theft is mainly about percentages. Steal one can of Coke from a store, and your chances of being caught are slim. Steal 24 cans every hour, over the next six weeks, and your chances of getting away with it, become even slimmer. The difference here is not the crime, but the frequency and magnitude. If Dark was a little subtler, his chances of getting away with it - may similarly fit into the categories you mentioned, but his arrogant over-confidence MAY yet be his own undoing. He has also left behind a trail of electronic crumbs, so if caught, the whole "leeching family" are going to topple along with him! |

Peace, Adam.EXACTLY!! And I was just going to post about right away! Deacon Fan CLEARLY put out those Karaoke tracks when they came out, and they are STILL available from Japan on CD! You (John) WERE on Queenzone at that time, yet YOU didn't say anything about these tracks being put online, even though they were in PLAIN SIGHT. Fuck you, John Stewardess. Deny all you want, but you have a vendetta against me, and you used this opportunity to wage an anti-Dark/Inu war against me. I think most of the people here WILL agree with me. And what's worse, is that P_G just HAD to take the opportunity to take part in your HEROIC war! And let's NOT forget those who uploaded the following tracks on Queenzone from time to time, most of which ARE still available on the shelf - those who did not have to suffer the same kind of hate war I'm suffering right now: Queen + 5ive - We Will Rock You 2000 (currently available on 5ive's Greatest Hits album...which is a good CD, btw.!) Queen + Robbie Williams - We Are The Champions (currently available on A Knight's Tale - Original Soundtrack) Queen + Vanguard - Flash (Original 2002 remix - released as the Extended Mix on the CD-Single of the same name; discontinued; this was shared publicly on QZ even before the CD-Single came out!) Queen + John Farnham - We Will Rock You 2003 (currently available on JF's "The Voice - Greatest Hits" album; exclusive to Australia; this one I remember was uploaded by either Mr. Scully at the time, which he recorded OFF THE RADIO; and don't anyone bullshit me that he didn't do this, he DID!) And let's not forget the 46664 performances, for which Brian lashed out at certain "leechers" for distributing online. No-one here got blamed for it, so I'll leave it be for that count. And then, there were people other than myself who let the convention 2000 tracks leak out freely online (which I had no part in, obviously) Need I list more? |
inu-liger 01.03.2005 15:45 |
And by the way, in case no-one reads the other thread I have on this song... To everyone, I am not honouring anymore requests for this song, due to me wanting some more free time for myself. This has nothing to do with Mr. John S Stuart's war against me. I am making this decision on my own. I would like to see at least SOME people buying the Jewels II CD from Japan. There ARE some slightly affordable copies out there online (depending on one's budget, and where one looks). I will be uploading a sample teaser later today to try and get people interested in this CD. Anyways, thought I'd let everyone know. Regards, Richard Guilbault |

Yet another thread has opened in the "Queen" forum advertising even further free samples from "Queen Jewels II". What more does Dark want, a neon sign and a three page advert in the "Guardian"? This sort of behaviour from a PUBLIC forum will NOT go un-noticed. (Please let's stop pretending otherwise). What is so hard to understand about that, and calling for a little bit of constraint and common sense? This is NOT a war. It is an APPEAL for universal calm before the sh*te hits the fan. Surely that is in everyone's best interests? After all, breaking the law - is still breaking the law - however you wish to cut it, and no amount of justification will dig you out of that hole. I think someone's medication needs turning up... SO, on the one hand we have, it appears, me & John saying "er hang on this isn't legal is it" On the other hand we have Dark saying "fuck off you stepford fucktards" In between we have dozens of people saying "gimme gimme gimme" Btw, nice grasp of geography there. And you call us fucktards. Whatever one of those is. |
Penetration_Guru 02.03.2005 13:47 |
My previous response was based on the second page. As for the first page.... Alex Solan - at what point does a band become rich enough where it becomes ok to steal their recordings? You say that U2 etc are fair game, but presumably small bands are not. Where do you draw the line? The answer is you can't. And therefore the loud and proud "I am stealing this" copyright theft going on here remains illegal. now, moving on to Dark. I agree that it is personal between me and Dark, and for a reason. BUT the only difference that makes is in the phrasing of my responses. The underlying point remains the same as it would be if anyone else did the same. I'd also refer you all to my first post on this subject, which is in no way abusive. In fact, I repeat the question. HAVE you asked Brian how he feels about you ripping him off? Secondly, would Dark like to define "Stepford" for us? As I believe it's yet another word (see also humility, theft, irony, copyright, respect, manners) that he doesn't know the meaning of. If he is able to offer the correct definition, perhaps he could then explain how YV, JSS & myself pointing out that his activity is illegal falls within that definition? I guarantee he can't do that, because it's a complete non sequitir. In fact, he's just using it as (in his mind) the worst insult he could throw at us, irrespective of accuracy or relevance. Six months ago he'd have called us "ass-bandits" or some such, although whether this constitutes progress is not a debate I can be bothered to enter into. Thirdly (and finally, I promise (at least in this post)), if he's so confident about this issue, why has he stopped, and edited the posts? "Need more free time"??????? DO ME A FAVOUR! If you have the mp3 on your system it takes a minute to type in the email addresses to send it to, 10 seconds to attach it, and 3 minutes to upload it, during which time you can browse the net in another window. So, let's have the truth, Dark. Why stop if you're convinced we're wrong about this? |

So, let's have the truth, Dark. Why stop if you're convinced we're wrong about this?1) Queenzone e-mail does not permit over 10MB for attachments 2) Even if I did what you suggested, I'd have another batch of requests to fulfill, hence the reason I uploaded it to 1 server and merely distributed the links 3) By "free time", I mean more time for me to do other better things online, instead of having to check my e-mail every 5 minutes (seriously, at the rate that's been going on!) That's why I stopped responding to requests. My decision was not influenced at all by John S Stuart's "anti-piracy/Dark" war comments. If I had taken into thought completely what John had said (not saying that I didn't realize what I was doing was wrong - I did, but as you can see, I could care less, as it is the ONLY official download I will ever offer), I wouldn't have distributed the MP3/FLAC files at all. I'm merely, by doing this, trying to get people interested in Queen's products, and also once the ADATR DVD-A comes out (this year?), if the mix is on there (which is likely, based on what Justin Shirley-Smith told me), people will definitely get the DVD-A for that then. After all the responses I've gotten for this mix, in which there were only 1 or 2 complaints about the mix itself (both made on this board), I don't see why people won't buy the ADATR DVD-A for the track in 5.1 once it comes out. Anyways, I'm not feeling well mentally, so I do not wish to write more at the moment, as even what I'm writing seems to be confusing me. When I'm feeling better and more relaxed (as I also very stressed out for other reasons), I'll write some more on this matter. I hope you can see in the meantime where I'm getting at. |
