The two main contributors to this for me are Brian May obviously and Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Both can craft great solo's that make the hairs stand on the back of your neck. For Brian it has to be the 2 solo's in "show must go on" and for rocking its "I want it all". Gilmour is excellent also with "Comfortably Numb" and "High Hopes". What to others think ? ?

For me it would naturally be Brian with his solo
in 'Who Wants To Live Forever' finishing on the power chord and the 'Hammer To Fall' live 2nd solo when he finishes with the 3 stage echo. Goose bumps of death !
There are many fantastic guitarists out there that I admire like Joe Perry from Aerosmith and
Slash of GnR but nothing puts the hair up on my arms like the warm tones of the Red Special.
I agree with you on that one on "who wants to live forever" at the end with Brians trademark raising arm. Im also very partial to my Guns N Roses especially the array of solo's in November Rain absolute class guitarist and a big May fan i believe. Went to see him with his new band still a legend.
Yeah Velvet Revolver is his new band which basicaly is GNR without Axel Rose. Instead they have the lead singer from Stone Temple Pilots. An odd chap but it all certainly rocks. I wager Brian is a big big fan.
I think Eddie Van Halen takes alot of beating also. Hearing Brian & Eddie within Blues Braker on the B Side of Starfleet totally melted my brain. A great jam !!
The lead singer is Scott Weiland, he uses an odd tactic of singing through a megafone absolute nutcase. They still play the odd GnR song aswell. Hopefully they can help bring rock back
How can any talk about great guitar solos without talking about the ALMIGHTY terror twins - Steve Clark and Phil Collen. Armageddon It, Hysteria, Switch 625 and THE best song EVER - Photograph all prove who were the best.
