Cliff, you slay me mate. The above post ( what about it? ) just had to make me laugh...bet you did too ! In a nutshell folks: the Brix Tix lottery is a complete and utter disaster as far as organization, execution, and completion goes. For more indepth info regarding the Saga to end all Sagas, check out the huge 40+ page thread on Queen Online titled "Brixton Lotter: Anyone won yet?" in the Tour Section of the Message Forum. Every fan should know about how this is being handled....and not handled!! COngrats go out to the few winners though that have come forward. The Gods have indeed blessed you! |

Ha Ha LOL |

The last thing I'm going to do is wade through a forty page thread on QOL (or indeed anywhere), plus I have to confess that I assumed it would be twenty pages of "has anyone heard yet" that then disappeared off at a tangent. ANy chance of a summary? I know some have "won" (well, just me to be honest), and I saw that a short timescale to use your "win" before losing it might create problems given the postal service, btu other than that...? |
RohemianBapsody 17.02.2005 17:52 |
I won, but through QOL, not the fan club ..... hurrah :) |
Jjeroen 17.02.2005 18:22 |
Same here... long live QOL... :-/ But WhAT a disgrace!! |
Voice of Reason 2018 18.02.2005 03:46 |
I haven't heard a thing as to whether I've won or not - I'm in the fan club and registered at QOL. Do you think it's time for me to start making alternative plans for the Easter weekend? |
Tero 18.02.2005 04:33 |
You know Cliff, some people could say that it is the fan club's fault that the Brixton lottery was such a failure... Neither the band nor the fan club promised any exclusive rights to any tickets, but since somebody was polite enough to make a special exception to the members of the private and unofficial fan club as an afterthought, they had to try and incorporate all those people with regular mail addresses in the draw as well. You could say that the way it was planned, it was supposed to only include those people who had an e-mail account and could be reached within a matter of days. Therefore they could have easily had the time for those six rounds you think they were supposed to have to sell all the tickets, and there would have been no negative feedback. Except from you of course, who seem to complain about it constantly. (Or at least until you win. That is what it's all about, isn't it?) |

(rediciolous, but all things round this lottery is rediciolous...) |

Even if I win I shall continue with the "battle"! In fact if I win I might not even let on. |

"Well, I dunno, but some people have suggested that (by mistake) being both a member of the fanclub as QOL counts a double entry and will therefore be found invalid by the computer and thus kicked out of the lottery!" This can only happen when a FC member entered the lottery through the QOL link - that would be a double entry. |
Voice of Reason 2018 18.02.2005 13:12 |
I didn't do anything. I knew I was in the fan club and on QOL so I thought I was covered. |

Who says the draw has been a failure?I won a ticket but don't expect to see the ticket until a couple of weeks before the concert.I go to many concerts and that is the normal procedure. This forum and the Queen-online forum represent only a tiny percentage of Queen fans. |
Jjeroen 19.02.2005 07:57 |
D@vid, if you think this lottery has gone standard procedure (well...'has'... it is still not over -which says enough on itself-) you realy should read the 40-page thing on Queenonline!! Convince yourself! Cause the way this is going is all BUT standard! And that has nothing to do with who has won and who hasn't. Neither with the ticket5s only arriving 3 weeks prior to the geg, cause that indeed is standatd procedure. But they make mistake after mistake in that procedure, organisation. I'm going to Brixton too, so I don't care in that matter, but this lottery is a disgrace! |
Jjeroen 19.02.2005 09:48 |
When you go to the website you get to choose between standing or seated tickets! In case of standing tickets there is never going to be a 'bad' ticket, for they are all the same. Seated? Well... who-ever choses this option should not complain when he/she ends up in the back row! That's a risk with any seats for any show. |
D@VID 19.02.2005 12:17 |
I booked standing tickets.I am one of the lucky ones I admit, but it seems to have run okay to me.A second draw for the the refused tickets seems sensible to me.You're right about the moaners. I had e-mail conformation immediatley and confirmation of the QFC so my experience has been good. If you haven't won that does not represent bad management. |

The way it was originally planned was a scandal with no QFC members. So only people signed upto QOL before 12 Dec were going to be eligible, what about the 100's of QFC members who have been members for 20+ years who don't bother with websites. QOL should be ashamed of themselves, there organisation c***, they should have left it upto Jacky at the fan club to sort. QOL is just a website, no fees to pay & is relatively new. QFC has been going for nearly 30 years. OK so its independant now officially, but it is still called the OFFICIAL international QFC. |

I do agree that the fan club should have gotten a better chance at this. My impression is that the lottery was designed for QOL and to be conducted online, thus leaving the ever loyal fan club and its members out in the cold. |

And more importantly, were you actually promised anything before you signed up, or are you just bitter because somebody gets the same benefits without paying the £15? The latest Queen release I have (Live At The Bowl) says that it is the INTERNATIONAL Queen fan club. There is no mention of official. And even that international is debatable since most of the benefits (like the presale tickets) only apply to UK. Another piece on information you have been conveniently ignoring is that there have been two persons on QOL who have joined the fan club AFTER hearing about the tour, and still receiving their presale opportunity... And the other one even won a Brixton ticket! If that's how desparate the fan club is to get new members and fuck their existing ones up the arse, is it really any better than the QOL you have been constantly critisising? |

"what about the 100's of QFC members who have been members for 20+ years who don't bother with websites. And what about the 100's of real fans who prefer internet (21st century, you know?) and don't bother with some fan club? You really won't win any points if you keep on protesting against fans who are VERY loyal to the band but simply don't care about the fan club. The lottery is fucked up but please don't tell me you have a "moral" right to be in Brixton unlike me - only because you pay 15 pounds per year to two ladies and I don't. If the lottery thing was left up to Jacky, it would be April and the winners wouldn't be announced yet because the winter 2004 magazine would be delayed to June 2005... |

Mr. Scully 21.02.2005 04:00 |
OK, I agree with you about that - the QOL members certainly shouldn't have more privileges than the FC members (and vice versa!). |
Voice of Reason 2018 21.02.2005 08:40 |
I think I was really wondering if I'm going to get a notification that I HAVEN'T won? Did you guys get one? |
Benn 21.02.2005 11:22 |
Once again, the Fan Club has lead fans to believe something other than what ACTUALLY happens - this isn't the first time, so I'm quite surprised that everyone seems to be so shocked about issues like this. In the future, take what you hear from the people at OIQFC with extremely large pinches of salt and then decide on the "likelihood" of it happening........ Thay=t way, you won't be too disappointed.... |
