I know a lot of you people say that Muse is heavily influenced by Queen, but since I know many of you guys like Muse where can I find interviews with Muse talking about Queen? |
The Fairy King 15.02.2005 10:51 |
Lots of times, Matthew(singer, songwriter, guitarist) talked about his admiration for Queen and respect, but also his fave song of all time is We Are The Champions. Just read some interviews or download some radioshows with them, it pops up a few times. |
Jjeroen 15.02.2005 10:59 |
I can't give you specific names of magazines or adresses for audio interviews, but Fairy above, is right. They mention Queen quite often! (You take it from an 'elite', right? ;-) |
The Fairy King 15.02.2005 11:04 |
oh yes, longtime fan xD luv em |

Does anyone else really like Muse's latest effort, Absolution? Personally, I think the music is really fantastic. I get a similar feeling that I have from listening to some Queen tracks. I rarely get that same feeling from Queen music, that I do from other bands I enjoy listening to. What do you think? Peace, Adam. |

Absolution? Very rarely I get stunned by an album as much as I did with Absolution. And believe me, both because of my personal passion as for my work, I hear A LOT of new (and old) albums! I have to admit though that I've been a big Muse fan ever since the first album. But on the other hand: my expectations for this album where very very very high and I was not dissappointed for one second! Contrairy; that album is even better then I expected. In the media I write for I voted Absolution album of the year in my editor's end-of-the-year top 10. But personally I still find it one of the best albums EVER made. Everything on it is totally right, up to the sleeve design and it will definately still be up there after a lot of years. A potential all-time classic, if you ask me. Did I already mention that Muse is one of the best live acts on the planet right now?? ;-) |

I totally agree with you, Jeroen. Before I buy music I usually listen to audio samples online and many times it takes me a while to finally decide whether I should buy an specific album or not. When I first heard 'Time Is Running Out' on the radio I was so blow away of how great that song was that I immediatly felt the urge to listen to what Muse had to offer, and not only I bought 'Absolution', but also 'Showbiz' and 'The Origin Of Symetry'. A lot of people might tell you that Muse sounds too much like Radiohead, and perhaps they might be some similarities between both bands, but Muse takes the whole thing a lot further by making it more experimental, louder, bolder, and enjoyable to listen. 'Absolution' is absolutely (no pun intended) the best album of the past 5 years, possibly the past 10. |

Queen Rock Planet Muse We Are The Cahmpions is number 1 on the list of songs that rock Muses planet. In an interview in the Rock magazine RIP & Burn the British rock band Muse stated in their interview that We Are The Champions is the number one song for them, here is the exact quote from the interview : "Because it's genius Queen weren't afraid to do anything. "I consider it a challange before the whole human race and I aint gonna Lose" - those are the best lyrics I've ever heard. chris from Muse Submitted by: Mala-Kot I've seen them live twice and they ROCK. |
Jjeroen 15.02.2005 14:05 |
Nice quote, Mala-kot! ;-) Actually, MrJingles, I was not too impressed when I heard Time Is Running Out for the first time on radio! I still find it the least good song on the album. My first favourite was Stockholm Syndrome (now it varies and I cannot realy decide). I truly believe that one day Muse will give us a new 'Bohemian Rhapsody' ;-) |

I'm very upset that I couldn't see Muse last November when they came here to NY. Somehow they have been promoted well enough here in the States and they're still only allowed to play clubs, which compared to the arenas that they play in Europe is nothing. However they still have a very strong cult fan base here in America, and it was thanks to them that their popularity here has grown fast. Hopefully the next time they tour the States I will finally be able to see them, and even better if they let them play larger venues. |
Jjeroen 15.02.2005 15:26 |
Yes, they became huge in no-time over here! But they have played almost EVERY festival almost EVERY year for the last five! Add to that the regular concerts and we get a chance to see them a lot. I've seen them nine times now and every single gig of them was truly awesome! I realy hope you get a chance to see them soon!! |
Penetration_Guru 15.02.2005 16:52 |
They are very good live....probably the odd live concert kicking around ebay... |

A few years ago my cousin was drumming in a band, and they supported Muse in a pretty low key gig locally. My cousin called me the next day and told me to watch out for a band called Muse cos they were going to be massive. I think they are one of a very few bands around at the minute that could still be around in 15/20 years. They are absolutely superb. Its very rare im without Absolution in my car!! I think there is alot of mutual respect between the 2 bands. |

Yes but the way they did is very different, with the megaphone n stuff. Original is by Nina Simone. |
Plengel 16.02.2005 10:42 |
They are quite good. "New Born" is my absolute favorite! I've heard/read that there influenced by Queen a lot of times, but I can't name a specific article or interview. |

I've just bought my first Muse albums - Origin of Symmetry & Absolution, & they are fantastic. I kinda had to buy them to see what all the hype was about, cos I hadn't heard that many singles (Plug in Baby & Feeling Good are the two that spring to mind) & I've not been disappointed. Not had a chance to listen to both all the way through yet, but Stockholm Syndrome stands out for me - what a track. Matt Bellamy's vocals are just stunning. Looking forward to discovering more of their stuff soon!! On another note, I saw them at Heathrow airport while I was going on a business trip in 2000, I had no idea who they were, but it was obvious they were a band. Saw them on TV a matter of days after them being on the same filght as me to Vienna! Weird!! |

from: link Their first two albums, Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry, had epic ambitions, but seemed to think that tunes were for oiks. Absolution confirms them as a band with potential for greatness, marrying the operatic splendour of Queen with the savagery and melodic suss of Nirvana. “I’ve always loved Queen,” says Bellamy. “The things we have in common with Queen are the things of which I’m really proud. We have a big sound, and we’re not afraid to put on a big show. Recently, the most famous English bands have seemed unnaturally self-conscious on stage. Their performances have been focused on breaking the barriers of rock stardom. It seems like they’re saying: ‘We are just normal people. ’ They strip away their individuality, and individuality is what makes for a great performance — the audience gets to see something that they don’t see in everyday life.” It's a great Muse site too, possibly better than the official site. I'd say it's the QueenZone of Muse sites. Theres also about 5GB of mp3, plenty of concerts worth downloading. |
