I know that some of you might have heard a lot more concerts than others i'm just intrigued to know which one is your favourite and why? My favourite is Earls court 77 for the great setlist great sound and the overall concert i general. There's a good vibe between the band and in my opinion catching them on top form my fave song from it was "white queen" just brilliant. |
MercuryArts 14.02.2005 16:34 |
I can't believe I am answering this but, mine would have to be 24 July 1982 at the Philadelphia Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA my very first concert and the last time I saw Queen. Everything else is a close second. |

Kalamazoo 1978 without a doubt |
nibznik 14.02.2005 18:16 |
Earls Court is pretty good, and from what I've heard so far (only listened to a likkle of it) Knebworth 86 is top notch as well. |
wstüssyb 14.02.2005 18:16 |
Kalamazoo 1978 without a doubt I actually drove a hour to Western Michigan Uni to to listen to a bootleg (ok sounding) from this show and see quite a few pictures that a college student who was hired via the school to help with the crew, the guy actully kept all the towels the band used and never washed them, about 9 in all. |

foxxy_moron 15.02.2005 02:23 |
Yes, live aid had me excited!!!!!!!!!! But actually, the one that excited me the most was the Tribute Concert... i dont know why though.. maybe because the crowd was really into it and everything |
My Melancholy Blues 15.02.2005 02:31 |
imo, EARL'S COURT in many ways, I looooove it! Its set list is pretty good and from the biginning to the end, all of the band performances are so fantastic. Freddie's vocal solo between White Man and Prophet's Song and Rock'n'Roll medley are awesome. Besides I love his banters of that day so much. I envy its audience and their warm rapport!!!(i.e. between Queen and them) Kampuchea Concert Hammy '79 is also awesome, imo. Freddie was so hot and especially he was rampageous during SHA. I was so astounded when I saw it first. |

My Melancholy Blues 15.02.2005 03:10 |
I also haven't seen any Queen concert, except on DVD or video...I do wish I had been born earlier and been there. I love both 'album Queen' and 'live Queen'. :) |

Wembley 86. And the Freddie Memorial Concert show. |
Jjeroen 15.02.2005 07:16 |
Sao Paolo 1981!!! A chemistry that evening that was rare, even for Queen. All members are right on top and Freddie has one of his best nights. And he KNOWS it! Imagine Milton Keynes with just a little even móre. |
nino trovato 15.02.2005 08:15 |
My favorite shows were the two I attended in Providence, RI in 1978 and again in 1980. As far as bootlegs? I love Montreal, Toronto and Chicago from December of 78. They were in the middle of the tour and you can tell by those shows they were really on fire at that point. Outstanding performances!!! |
Mean Mistreater 15.02.2005 08:41 |
The Rainbow and Earl's Court are my favs |
Fenderek 15.02.2005 08:44 |
Sao Paulo (pity Brian fucked up solo in STL- that would be the best version EVER!) Hammersmith'79 Golders Green is also great, especially for such a young band Wembley Arena'80 (MUSTAPHA is amazing!!!) |
Queenliz 15.02.2005 11:06 |
My favourite live is the show at the Hammersmith Odeon in 75 for Christmas, I also like tha show at the rainbow in 74. |

well, i havent'seen much Queen as others, but i think form what i ve seen VHS(not DVD´s jaja) here in Peru is enough to say THEy were the Best band, I like Live at Rainbow 1974, aand Montreal 1982(We Will Rock You), BUdapest 1986, but i havent seen any Conceert from the post BOhemian Era until Montreal, just sonn footages and some songs,I have some amateur video recording, maybe some of you could helpy descifrate whicc concert is it, in this 6 yearas of listening to queen im stillamazed, and im only 17, and all ia want is dissapear, theres a lot of space beetween my ears,....Bye |

either Milton Keynes 1982 or Rainbow 20/11/1974.....Copenhagen 1978 & Earls Court 06/06/1977 are good too |

BlueRock wrote: Hammersmith, Odeon '75 was brilliant, probably the best show ever filmed...That's what I think too. It was such a special chemistry between them, even both Freddie andBrian were suffering of bad flu (you can even hear Freddie's voice is a bit nasal, but it doesn't matter), the whole show's like a musical celebration. It's awesome... and I guess it's the best guitar solo (Brighton Rock) I've ever heard Brian playing. Live Aid is also a jewel, especially Crazy Little Thing Called Love - so much vital energy... Perhaps the band's finest 20 mins. In what concerns Live At the Rainbow'74, if there are no overdubs, then it's indeed Brian's best gig. The guitar is simply awesome. Earl's Court'77 is a great show too. Especially Freddie's voice was in excelent shape (just listen to the White Man / Prophet's Song medley and you'll know what I mean)... and he was so sweet while talking to the audience! |

I'm so jealous of those that got to see Queen live. Myself, I've only been able to enjoy official releases and bootlegs but my favorite of those would be a tie between Earls Court '77 and Vienna '78. |

i haven´t seen or heared queen live, but from records/videos/dvd-s, my favourites are: -earls court 1977. -rainbow 1974. -montreal 1981. -milton keynes 1982. -budapest 1986. |
Bizon 16.02.2005 19:06 |
copenhagen 13/04/1978 i haven't heard many shows... maybe 20 or so but this is definitely my favourite and the best part of it is for me death on two legs/killer queen/loverboy/i'm in love with my car/get down/waltz/best friend.... i can skip the rest of it (although it's also great) and listen just to this part of the show over and over again... amazing... |
~Blue_Acid~ 16.02.2005 19:25 |
I would have to say Earls Court'77 because there is so much early stuff like the prophets song and white man and freddies vocal performances in between are awesome. Also brians three blind mice appearance in the brighton rock solo is awesome. But the highlight is white queen. The solo is diffrent then the studio and sounds awesome. I also like wembely'86. |

I was asked to be designated driver for a friend's 18th birthday celebration. They told me they had tickets for Bob Seger. When asked who the warmup band was, they told me Seger, with Queen as the headliner. uh....well, I accepted, hesitantly of course... Damn, that was 29 years ago today. I recently listened to an audience recording of Frankfurt 1980 for the first time. That was great! Freddie was extremely energetic and sung very well that day. It's a pity that the audience is so loud on the recording, sometimes they sing louder than the band. But it must have been a hell of a party! Newcastle 79 is awesome, too, but it suffers from the relatively poor sound quality. Hammersmith 79 is my favourite though, maybe just because of the better sound quality. |
Sherwood Forest 08.01.2006 14:40 |

Still waiting for the whole show to fall on my doormat though, so for now it remains H77. And Zoom 79. And Zoom 76. And Kopenhagen...shit, there are so many great shows..... |

This is interesting, and unfortunately I missed it when it was originally posted. Greg Brooks says Jailhouse Rock was played on October 29th 1978, but someone who attended the show says Hound Dog was played. Is this yet another fable of Greg's? But also, can we simply take the word of a Queenzone post? If it's true, then this is a big find in the history of Queen live. If not, then we are left to take the word of Greg, something which many of us hesitate to do all too often. Greg said Elvis died in 1978. I rest my case. |

Yeah, they played Providence on 11/14/78 and again 8/26/80. That was their last time in Rhode Island but they did play there a few times on earlier tours. Freddie was amazing in 1980. If you have the bootleg from that show you can tell his voice was in great shape that night. I just restored all the photos from those shows recently and they look so much better with the color saturation. |

@Rik They recorded every concert from 1974 until the Magic tour professionally. So there is a soundboard recording of Newcastle 1979. Don't ask me anything about multitracks. To be honest: The Crazy Tour was, I think, their best tour ever, if you talk about performance wise (light effects, entertaining, singing). Freddie's voice was in superb shape! |

I first saw Queen in February 1977, at Madison Square Garden. Thin Lizzy opened. This was the single loudest show I ever attended. But most of all I loved how Queen was invisible through the first half of the first song (Tie Your Mother Down) because of all of the smoke. All you saw was the occasional limb emerging from the cloud. That was just too, too cool. |

Houston 1977 by a longshot. Was almost same setlist as Earls Court except for additions of WWRY(slow tape)/Races Intro, We Will Rock You(fast), Love of My Life, My Melancholy Blues, We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions. Also, Brighton Rock was shortened plus Death On Two Legs, I'm In Love With My Car and Get Down Make Love were added to the medley, Brian's guitar solo was after Freddie's vocal solo which was after White Man and Brian's solo segued into Now I'm Here. Also, Sheer Heart Attack was done as a medley with Jailhouse Rock. I loved the extended Liar here with Brian's guitar malfunction. |

Today I listened to the Frankfurt 1980 bootleg again and I really got carried away by its power. If it just had better sound quality, it definitely would be my favourite then. IMO it's Freddie's best vocal performance ever, even ahead of Newcastle 1979. He hits all the high notes without straining his voice and feels very comfortable with his singing. The bluesy audience singalong in Now I'm Here is absolutely awesome! He sings Death On Two Legs exactly like the album version, with the original high melody, same with Killer Queen, LMEY and NIH. And it's not only which notes he reaches, it's the way he does – clear and clean, almost effortless, with some wonderful "ornaments". He never did it that good before and after. The audience go crazy at each song's opening chord, Mustapha and WWRY (fast) are almost taken over by them. This concert definitely would be worth a professionally mixed release. |

I just listened recently to Phoenix 1980 bootleg... What a pity it's not complete! They were really on fire- so relaxed! It is a bit shaky at times but I was blown by the energy! And when Fred started singing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" during Jailhouse Rock or "Another One Bites The Dust" when reprising Now I'm Here... MAGIC! Probably the only gig when "You're My Best Friend" didn't sound exacly like at any other gig... and a great version of Mustapha if I remember well... What a pity it's not complete and in a bit better quality! |

It is an unbelievable gig, great crowd enthusiasm, the band is on fire, and Freddie is in great shape. As you say, the crowd is sometimes too loud :D. Anyways, speaking vocally, I would still say Newcastle takes it. Freddie's voice sounds cleaner there, and he reaches like 3 high C's (the note on BoRhap), with more power than ever. Plus, his voice never breaks on Newcastle, the second night. So I think Newcastle is my favorite (the second night), even though the quality isn't great, just OK. Frankfurt rocks though. Other shows I like are Live At The Rainbow, Hammersmith 75 & 79, and Edinburg 76. |

@kiko39: Incidently, I've listened to Newcastle 1979 today on my way to work. Now reading your post, I would – partly – say, you're right. Technically, Freddie's voice is slightly better in Newcastle. But in Frankfurt he seems more enthusiastic from the beginning, maybe it's the audience that supports him there. In the beginning of the Newcastle gig he doesn't seem to be in the same spirit yet, but during the medley it clearly gets better. And in NIH he blows the listener away with his performance. I can't really explain it, but despite of the technically slightly worse performance in Frankfurt I still like it better. But anyway, it's a real pity that there are no better sounding versions of those concerts. |
