Ok, this site used to be a good source of information but now it is all jokes and argument and personal stuff. Please can anyone tell me where I can go and discuss seriously? Please send it to jomex@web.de so no-one silly can follow.... cheers |

i'v been over this numerous times, the reason we disagree is simply the age difference between most of us, it's hard to see things the same way as a teenager. i'm in my early thirties so it's hard to chat about music with a 15 year old, you get my drift. why do i continue to cum hear, it's pretty simple, it's my of love for queen. |
Daveboy35 07.02.2005 16:46 |
Hey a queen fan the same age or there abouts about time i've nothing aganist younger people but having people on here over 30 makes me feel a lot better. |

I personally think this board has improved greatly since some changes have taken place. |

I'm 40, and grew up with Queen (not literally of course) I waited and hounded record shops on the days leading up to a new album/cd release asking "have you got it yet?". A lot of "fans" here, only became fans very late in the band's career or after they "finished" So, I agree age does play a large part, but is all the flaming really necessary? |

I have to admit, I've been visiting QZ for two years, previously as RainMustFall, and it has gone a bit downhill with really strange topics and endlessly repeated questions. I think Sebastian's site going under construction had some long range effects on the Queen online community! |

Isn't okay just have a little fun once in a while? Huh? Joma? |
Joma 07.02.2005 21:12 |
Yeah, having fun is alright, I don't want to spoil that. I was just really angry about that Brenda guy... Maybe I will calm down again. One day. |

It's rather difficult to discuss or get proper informations especially about archival topics with the fan site like this where many people of different ages are coming. But I enjoy Queenzone...sometimes feel tired of jokes being repeated, otoh sometimes feel we need jokes... So...why don't you continue to come here like mike hunt... :-) |

BRENDA wrote: Hey a queen fan the same age or there abouts about time i've nothing aganist younger people but having people on here over 30 makes me feel a lot better.I'm over 40 myself and enjoy mature and constructive debate. However, you can't stop young people/teenagers posting on these threads. The age limit is 13 isn't it? I usually ignore immature..call it what you like...comments, profanity where I feel I have to. People can obviously relate to others who are of the same age group I guess and besides, young people grow up much quicker these days!! |

Some of your comments are interesting, though surprising. It's the serious arguments I can't stand - where people tell each other to fuck off and try to arrange meeting to fight. I mentioned this to my brother and he said the same thing happens on the soccer website he uses! |

Usually, age isn’t the issue, it’s maturity. Then again, Linda, you do like to argue with people. Maybe take a break from swearing at everyone who disagrees with you and prove you can be mature by not fighting back? |

Just to clear up any misunderstanding what i meant was people the same age as me would be better to get relevant information like for example "do you remember when the magic tour was announced and the press coverage at that time was all queen and how exciting it was back then",no offence but anyone under a certain age wouldn't know. I for one are really chuffed there's so many teenagers and young adults loving queen and finding something out about them with the same enthusiasm as i would imagine us older guys and gals did years before. |

I have always made it a point in the years that I have frequented this board to try to treat people online with the same respect and courtesy that I would in everyday life. If I wouldn't say something to someone's face, I wouldn't say it here. Its very easy to hide behind a keyboard and hurl insults at people while you're safely anonymous. But I daresay that about 90% of the insults exchanged here wouldn't be repeated if the parties involved were standing face to face. I don't think it has anything to do with age either. As much tripe is posted by older posters as it is the youngsters. Just my feelings on the topic of this thread... |

Well, if you older more wise people (not to sound mean) want us, the younger people to know more about the greatest band in all of music existance, then help us out. Give us more info. You guys put the topics on the board. I really would like to learn from someone who has grown up with Queen. Just think about this though, most of us younger people have not had the privalege to live in the 70's and the all of the 80's, so give us a chance and please, I'm asking you as a friend to please give us a break. We sadly don't know everything. Help us out and then maybe, you won't be irratated about recieving the facts that we know. (I hope i did not seem angry)=) |
Gunpowder Gelatine 08.02.2005 19:29 |
Honestly, we're all Queen fans, right? Why should it matter who's been a fan the longest or who knows the most random trivia about the band? If anything, the music should unify us, not put us all against each other and cause all this catfighting. |

Maybe I misunderstood what you are trying to say, but it sounds a bit offending. Yes, I'm very sorry I didn't get to hound the record shops for months, I'm very sorry I didn't see the start of the Magic Tour, I'm very sorry I'll never be able to see Freddie singing live... but does that make me half a fan? Do you think that the feeling you had when you finally bought the records was much different of what I felt when I listened to the first album I bought or to the ones I searched for during whole months or maybe years? No, it wasn't. It was just the same emotions and joy, the same delight to hear it... Do you know what I feel for Queen, how much I listen to them, how much I care? Do you really think that I'm not a real fan just b/c I'm 18? Do you think I love them less than you do?mike hunt wrote: i'v been over this numerous times, the reason we disagree is simply the age difference between most of us, it's hard to see things the same way as a teenager. i'm in my early thirties so it's hard to chat about music with a 15 year old, you get my drift. why do i continue to cum hear, it's pretty simple, it's my of love for queen.I agree Mike. i think mabe brianmay75 misunderstood a bit. i'm only saying that your taste in muscic changes as you get older, so alot of the stuff some of the fans are calling crap and utter garbege will most likely grow on you as you get older. i know when i was 15 or 18 years old everything had to be a certain way, either hard rock or heavy metal, but now that's not the case, i now see where queen were comming from when they recorded 'hot space' or 'magic' not everything was meant to sound like bo rap and stone cold crazy, meaning i have more of a open mind to music than i did back then. |

I'm exactly 18 and was 15 when I got into Queen. And before I discovered them, I used to listen to Mozart, so I guess I was open minded even then, I never expected Queen to sound always like Bo Rhap or Stone Cold Crazy, in fact that was exactly what attracted me, the fact they sounded so different on various albums. I love their hard rock feel on the early albums, but also the poetry of Innuendo and the funky rhythms of Hot Space. My fav song is A Kind Of Magic, btw, even if the album I mostly appreciate is A Night At The Opera, despite the fact they're so different. If I'm young, it doesn't mean I'm not open minded or that I think 80s Queen is crap. I never did and I remember defending the 80s albums on this forums, when they were called crap... So I guess age doesn't matter so much in here, all that matters is musical taste and this has not much to do with age. Often it does, but not everytime and I can tell you I know other fans of my age with the same musical taste. |

People get below the belt w/ their insults to where it's no longer funny. (If it ever was). That said... i'm 16. And placing the blame for the degridation of this site on the younger generation just makes the problems worse. |
